Just thought Id post this up for fun. Bob Morris is a good guy and loves shotgunning coyotes. He lives over in Kern Co., and theres lots of coyotes on them big ranches.

Some cool kills in here, and some neat body language on a couple coyotes.

Wow, that was easy! Damn, I haven't watched a coyote video in years. But, I got into this one.

That was pretty good. Loved Bob's sit down 4 and 5 might be coming, that's a coyote hunter...

I hate to be negative, but / and I don't know Al Morris from Adam, but wasn't he overdoing the promotion? We are here in CA and Yeow! Might as well have been "Fried Chicken".

I don't know how many coyotes the guy has killed, maybe more than me, but seems to me you lose that wonderful thrill of 9 coyotes and triples, etc. Okay, I'm being picky. But, I don't do the end zone dance at the conclusion of every stand. It's unprofessional and phony, if you ask me? Okay, I never did, you got me there. But why do we need that kind of bullshit in a TV show about anything. Do grownups act like that? I prefer the Vic Carlson routine, which is almost undetectable, Mona Lisa style. [Smile]

Yeah I agree with that Leonard. I really don’t get worked up over killing a coyote not even a double or triple. I will say the only time I can think of when I got a little excited after a stand was a couple years ago. We had 7 Coyotes coming in all at once and by the time we were done we had six dead. Shotguns emptied and a couple rifle shots. After it was over I remember looking over at my Brother and saying “ holy shit what just happened”. And we both just started laughing our asses off. I didn’t even say “fried chicken”

I'm not immune to spectacular stuff like rolling a flat out coyote way out yonder; after he kicks it into high gear. I might say, good shot, or if my partner fucks up a chip shot, I might kid him about it. But this Spring Break Enthusiasm we see where what happened was the highlight of my adult life.... until the next stand, which it turns out, was even better! I guess it's all about selling Foxpros?

Sorry Lone Howl, thank you for the link, I enjoyed watching it. I'm just a contrary asshole.

I have talked to Al Morris a couple times at the World Contest. He’s a very likable guy. So is his partner Garvin Young.

After years of hunting coyote shows I have a hard time watching them without going yeah yeah yeah watching them as they are nothing but adds to sell FoxPro's Mojo whatevers or That Steve Criner fella selling something. And I have never in my 50 plus years of calling and killing coyotes I don't do any phoney dance or make crazy statements. Just doesn't seem quite right somehow. Yes it is exciting to call up 3,4,5,at one time and over in Idaho out in Arco while my cousin was going to nuke school for sub service we called in a dozen at one time out on the nuke reservation. They never heard a varmint call before so were pretty gullible. But then again out on my aunts ranch up by Tahachapi in Kern county we used to call in doubles, triples all the time. Same thing, they never heard a call before. But still no dance just for the sake of being on a show or is that what FoxPro scripts for them? I really have nothing against the Al Morrises or Steve Criners or whomever has a show, good for them, but do get sick of listening to them tell you the sell on a product. Whatever happened to good ol mouth calls and getting them right in your lap? Don't see that anymore and that is real calling. Once again , nothing against electronic gizmos that cost a weeks wages if that what blows your skirt up ambushing coyotes.

I don't like all the jumping up and down and the fried chicken bull that there putting out these days. Hell now the Criner guy thinks he's going to war, calls himself the dog soldier. Never was one to get all excited about killing a coyote, was taught to respect the game your hunting. Hunting shows now a days is all about selling stuff not hunting.
I will say that the old Randy Anderson show I liked, not all the bullshit just hunting.

The only reason any hunting show, any news broadcast, any show of any kind has EVER existed is to sell product.

I don't watch any of them. Have no idea what the heck is meant by "fried chicken". Is it worth asking to have it explained? I really have no idea what the fuck you guys are talking about.

Okay, Dave.

You know that Huntmasters has had a little campout for about a dozen years or so until people just drifted, and I got a little discouraged. Anyway, I first met Steve Criner at the Pichacho Peak campout and he was a raw rookie, at the time. I posted a photo of him afterwards and called him "Unknown" and it stuck for a short time. Anyway somehow somewhere, he got involved with Gerald Stewart and he began filming videos for the company that bought out the Johnny Stewart products. Steve has a lot of enthusiasium and after a kill he would do a fist pump or something and yell, "Fried Chicken"! I say this as someone that never cared for coyote hunting videos, to the point that I have unopened gifts that I have not seen so the Fried Chicken part is completely heresay. But, lots of people know it and have seen the videos so even I am aware of the bit.

So, that's it. Instant celebrity, like Byron South and a few others. Meanwhile, here we are, nothing's changed.

Good hunting. El Bee

PS I will say this, and it has nothing to do with Steve Criner, but of those that do videos, the only one I am sure is the real deal and a good guy is Les Johnson. Mark Zep is a good guy, too. I have videos gifted from both of them and haven't watched them, but they are appreciated. I can't explain my disinterest?

lol I like videos, I enjoy seeing what everyone else is doing and just keep up with what is happening in the hunting world.

Heres some Kelly Jackson for your enjoyment.

Can't really say that I even get an elevation in heart rate anymore. Kinda sad, I guess, but it doesn't mean I don't enjoy the experience. Instead of yelling "Chicken Dinner" after an especially violent stand, I'm usually thinking, "Aw shit. Now I have to carry these sonofabitches to the truck." Or, "Please be mangey. Please be mangey."

If and when we resort to a "catch phrase", it's usually after the nth dry hole, at which time I lookn at Kevin and simply say, "Sometimes, this shit don't work." Or, as a way of offending the sensitive, we occasionally yell, "Go Team Jesus!!!" then laugh our asses off. It's all about having fun.

that's some good action right there, and well filmed, which is one of the things that drove me nuts when I tried watching Les Johnsons footage, his brother apparently refused to use a tri-pod, and the footage just was not steady, ever. If you're going to be on TV, dang sure should be steady footage.

If you are selling a product it seems shameless and endless self promotion is the way , but not always look at some pro staffers such a Kelly always professional and always humble just glad to be huntin !

You are welcome, Dave.

I guess the moral of the story is that you can become a You Tube celebrity in a very short time. That photo of Steve that I mentioned above is of him proudly holding about half of a coyote's tail, which he had shot off that morning. I don't know if at that time he had never killed a coyote or maybe just a few, but as I understand it, he has his own production company now, I think he calls it "Dog Soldier", not associated with the company, is it called H&R? anyway, they make a lot of hunting products including the entire Johnny Stewart line of hand and electronic calls and lots of turkey and deer hunting gear.

It goes without saying that Steve is well known to the Predator Masters community. He's made a name for himself and if Leonard and Steve were to walk into one of those big rondes, he would be immediately recognized and would introduce his unknown friend, Leonard. ha ha!

That's why they self promote. Same in the trapping business side. If true numbers ever came out about what they killed they wouldn't be so popular. Guys like Cal and Kelly that are killing good numbers every year don't have time for that shit during the season. Their too busy killing coyotes. The one exception would have to be Les. He does have numbers and miles to back his shit up.
Another fine example is Victor. You don't want that guy in your back yard killing shit. He will cost you money.

I can personally vouch for VC. We went on 3 stands and called 3 coyotes. Then we went to lunch or such. All hail Vic, [Smile]

Ole Brent put some coyotes in front of me too. All hail Brent. [Smile]

I think those two are harder on coyotes than Parvo...

No argument from me. I also note your persistence in that catagory. Not many would drive from "Ohio" just to kill several dozen song dogs.
