I want you to look at the jumbled piles of weapons, firearms and the ammunition, the only thing that is respectfully stacked up, and notice the 17 caliber. Hardly a revolutionary cache. Myself, I would be greatly pissed off to see my guns tossed in the driveway like that!

But, it's obviously just a collection. Extensive it may be, but where is the threat? Did he sell a revolver to an undercover ATF goon or what?

Don't know. The article says he was conducting illegal firearms transactions.

Maybe the police were tipped off by another dealer?

Possibly? Hard to say by the article and you know whatever they write, it won't have a favorable slant.

The thing is, if the guy was farting around with AR parts, the way they write laws in this state, there is much incentive to take matters into one's own hands, even if it's against their bullshit laws. Don't make it right, just understandable.

Still, having a hobby shop operation in the basement does not justify mishandling and scratching up the man's collection. And, it is OBVIOUSLY a honest collection of long duration. The rules now in place restrict you to (I forget) one or two firearms per month. How long would it take to accumulate that many?

So, how do you justify tossing all those nice guns out on the driveway? That's my complaint, and it's because that's the way the police look at private ownership, without much in the way of respect. I'm completely serious, I bet they scratched up 90% of what's laying there? It's uncalled for, no matter what chickenshit law the man broke.

My guys here have some respect for firearms.

Let's hope they go to a good home, and aren't melted down.

I understand what you say, 49.

But, you are assuming that whatever the guy did, well, his guns are in jeopardy, (he can kiss them good bye) and not his kitchen appliances and all the sheets in the linen closet, much less the inventory in his wine cellar. Some kind of vague statute involving a gun or some guns and there are thousands of valuable firearms just hauled away in a dumpster. The punishment hardly fits the crime, whatever it is? It's a knee jerk reaction, and I compare it to the man that has his granddaughter pay his bills and suddenly, the authorities declare him unfit to be in possession of any firearms! Why? umm, well, because! That's why!

The problem is the same every time. The majority imposes their will on the minority. It's not freedom and liberty, it's majority rule and that concept has been intrenched mindset for a long time and it's not only pathetic, it's wrong. The minority has rights! Just because some people are ignorant about firearms is no reason for them to vote that your guns should be confiscated for your own good and their peace of mind. That's just exactly like NAZI Germany, Soviet Russia, Red China and lately, Venezuela. Just as soon as they pass a bunch of "common sense" laws, like what that asshole Cory Booker wants to do, the police will begin knocking on my door at 3 A.M. in SWAT gear.

I have seen a very few hopeful signs that there is several county sheriffs in Colorado that are on record that they won't participate in seizures, but I'm convinced that most police and police agencies will enforce confiscation laws, up to and including the use of deadly force. And that will happen when some gun nut declares, "From my dead cold fingers!" And when you think about it, how many people get shot dead when their car is repossessed because they missed a payment?

I don't know? But, it's a slippery slope. And, there is no doubt that the concept of firearms is a trigger issue. Whatever is at issue, it gets ratcheted up several notches because it has something to do with guns, in other words, people go fucking nuts when there is a gun involved. And that's the part I have never understood. To me, I don't love guns. It's a damned tool, like a shovel or a rake, or a hedge trimmer. Yes, I appreciate a well made shovel and take care of it, but I don't collect shovels or firearms because I get off on handling them and cleaning them and using them on the range or in the garden.

I know, for a fact that the majority of police officers have an elevated heartbeat at the mere sight of a gun, and seldom when they see a well made shovel. Okay I'm getting ridiculous. I just think everybody gets too excited over guns.

end of rant
