Topic: Sunglasses..for hunting

Here is a strange request...does anyone know of sunglasses that have a matte or non-reflective lenses on the outside? As in, wont spook animals with glare. Not up on sunglasses so dont know if thats a thing.

Interesting idea but I'm not sure how it would work? Most peeps opt for a visor instead.
Victor Carlson said something a long times ago, (and I do mean long) when he observed that if a coyote was going to be afraid of reflections he'd be running clean out of the country, without stopping. Or words to that effect. Point being, coyotes see flashes and reflections probably every day and just go <shrug> "so what?"
Not that a reflection is not a concern, but it's not like these animals haven't seen them before and aren't spending much time worrying about it. Even at night, counting everything out there, from moon and stars to house lights and vehicles going by on the highway, these critters see lights and reflections as a pretty normal part of the natural environment.
I read a lot about the glint off a rifle barrel or even the "kill flash" adapters screwed on optic objective lenses. These are for humans, not critters. If you have movement associated with your flashy poncho, then I say, it's a problem. Otherwise, I'm not going to get too concerned. If you feel the need for dark glasses, there's a tradeoff so be aware.
I guess you could sand blast your lenses? Let us know how that works.

Agree with all youve said, I call all summer long and have sort of gotten into the habit of wearing my shades on stand sometimes. not really concerned about glare, but was just pondering the situation.
I do normally just pull my hat down a little more and deal with it anyways.

You're not fooling anyone. You want them for the "kool" factor. Kalifornia, like nowhere else, you must look good doing it, whatever it is? Even a hick town like Porterville, which I admit, I have never been to; they must consider the kool factor when getting up to go to the bathroom, in the middle of the night.
The Fonz might be kool, in FLYOVER COUNTRY, but he's a dink compared to the average resident of Porterville. He's doing Reverse Mortgage commercials wearing a cardigan. He's hardly hip, anymore, even backwater Porterville laughs at him.
I'm pondering. How could I live in The People's Republic since 1956 and never managed to even pass through Porterville, it's that important!

Look. My wife was exactly the same way, and without an actual reason. Phoenix gets hot, period.
I ventured, but, but maybe you haven't seen everything AZ has to offer. Since I have visited every single dot on the map, the more remote, the better.
And, she said, "that's true, you never take me anywhere except to visit your relatives in and around Phoenix Valley".
All it took was one visit to Sedona and she started to think about the possibilities.
There is something for everybody in Arizona. Just go find what you are looking for. And, generally, women are reasonable people. If she sees something she likes, her attitude will change.
Don't thank me yet, much work remains to be done. Otherwise, can you say Porterville without laughing?

I tried to go to Porterville once & ended up in Taft ?????
When one goes to Taft the only thing to do is look around and ask "Why ??"
I was happy to escape without getting one of those 'speeding while sitting at a red light' tickets.

Taft. I've passed through there kind of by accident a couple times. They have the Elk Hills Naval oil reserve. It's amazing, row upon row of oil wells, reminds me of photos I have seen of Saudi Arabia.
I thought there would be coyotes lurking around there, but was in too much of a hurry to get home. It is a dink town, after all.
You know, we used to have meets at Beverly Hills High School. It always impressed me that they had an oil well on campus. And, a nice indoor 50 meter pool. We has a 25 yard pool, for instance; a distinct disadvantage. But, I have a couple medals (somewhere) won at the Beverly Hills Invitational.

Elk Hills, Carizzo Plains, lots more places that are/were hidden back in there. Lot of private ground I had access to then out there. South side 166 and its cat and fox paradise.
Ran around in all that in late 80's all thru the 90's. Pretty much all to myself, nobody was calling back then really and looked at you sideways when you told them what you were doing. Oil guys unlocked gates for me and it was pretty cool.
Right on top of the Sand Andreas fault line, dropping coyotes. One night, had a minor quake and the small dry creek bed I was camped next to split in half and moved 4 feet in opposite directions. A real eye opener. Left early the next morning!
Edit..its all pretty much fucked up out there nowdays. Ill probably never be out that way again.
