People are going nuts around here, clearing the shelves ahead of the upcoming rationing, which I don't even know the extent and the actual laws involved except next month, citizens will only be allowed to purchase a certain amount, (number) of cartridges, and I don't know if it's per day, or week or per month, that's how ill informed I am. I just know it's coming and "they" are telling everyone to stock up now, or be sorry. Sounds about what to expect from a legislature that has a supermajority and can impose their will.

See, that has always been a goal, if gun control isn't effective "enough." Even more effective is to control ammunition, and here we are, in The People's Republik!

Good hunting. El Bee

edit: sooo, I just might go down and buy a bunch of shit I don't really need, mainly handgun ammunition because I handload for everything I own except rimfire, but components are not affected and I normally have only a few hundred cases for each caliber and many times that in powder, primers and bullets. It's the pistol brass that gets thrown all over the place and recovery is a pain in the ass, so that's what I will concentrate on. I'm thinking, at some point, it could be a medium of exchange, as well?

What a joke!

I had to grab a number. now serving #85 and I had #92. so I wait until I get called.

All the ammo is now behind locked sliding glass. Call me a bigot, but everything a wetback needs these days is locked up, all the hammers, trowels, basic construction hand tools. For 50 years, nobody thought of locking up ammunition and now we are all potential thieves. In the same way they strip search grandmothers and Mid eastern men of military age pass right through because they aren't allowed to profile anybody.

I spent $200 on a few random boxes, but you have to point to what you want and he unlocks and removes how many you want then relocks it and you go to a different slider. It was so painful that all I bought was centerfire, completely forgot to grab some 22's.

Then he takes it up to the island at the optics department, drops it on the floor and instructs me to go to the back of the line on the left. By this time, #85 was checking out and this asshole must have spent a thousand bucks! Why would I give a shit except it was a very tedious process.

After I got to the register, just ring it up and bag it. But when the new rules start, maybe you will need to show I.D. I never asked?

That's it from The People's Republik, coming your way next year.

Good hunting. El Bee

Yeah, I can see it coming; "We don't want to keep you from having ammo for hunting but you'll need to fill out an application for this 'military grade' ammo. "

Two hundred bucks bought 9 boxes, 9mm, 40S&W, and 45 ACP, 400 rounds. That’s it.

Yeah, and in the same veign and logic as “High Cspacity Magazines”, we might see restrictions on anything labeled; MAGNUM. You don’t need magnums to hunt deer. Have we ever figured out what an “Assault Weapon” is, other than black and scary looking?

Of course I told the Peanut Gallery a long time ago, lay off the AR 15’s for hunting! But did they listen?

Sad.
Questionable constitutional basis.See no significant public safety risk to the 'State' in storing ammo.
Sure it will trigger others to try the same though.

You think so? To you it's no longer scary, but does it have the pistol grip? Hand-guard? I'm sure Lefties are working tirelessly to counter your devious maneuver. They will have a solution involving strict regulations and punitive fines while touting "common sense" but don't expect logic.

I've been tempted for days to go to Turner's, the other chain we have in soCal. But maybe not because I get those points at BassPro Shops. But, what's really stopping me is that I envision take a number and lines. Not to mention that I'm being jerked around and panicked into buying what I don't even need.

I can handload every handgun caliber except 25Auto, and I never got around to buying those dies anyway. So, since bullets, propellant and primers are not CONTROLLED, for some reason, I'm really not affected by ammo restrictions, so why stock up? I'm not kidding, I probably have a 20 year supply of everything I currently own and shoot. For some reason, I have never been somebody that is thrilled by shooting at the range. In the past, I normally do load work up, but target shooting for target shooting's sake does not really blow my skirt up. Therefore, maybe I should waste my hard earned money on women instead of stacking the shelves.

Oh, that's something, don't know if I mentioned this but I actually had a damned shelf pull out of the wall and dump a lot of ammo on the floor, busted open a few boxes, but mostly bullets not factory loaded which held up pretty good. Still, these shelves have been sturdy enough for years until I started panic buying and stacking factory ammo to the damned ceiling.

Oh well, ammunition really does last forever, at least most of it will outlast me. I know what you are thinking, knee jerk California regulations don't affect me. Just wait 'til Kamala Harris send the FBI knocking on your door. At that point, Paul is on record, how he will go down in a blaze of glory.

Why worry, people can't be that stupid! Can they? Well, they once elected smooth talking Barry Obama. Wh not a flaming bug eyed radical like Cory Booker or Kamala Harris?

I just wanna be first to predict that when Leonard pitches a ghost, we'll likely get first word of it by a crawler on the bottom of the CNN screen talking about how he had an arsenal in his basement. On the flip side, every time we see news report of another California gun nut with an arsenal being taken out, we'll rush here to make sure Leonard is okay, assuming we don't forget our passwords and user names in all the kerfuffle.

Make no mistake, I am a certified dinosaur in The Land Of The Fruits And The Nuts. When they pass a Red Flag Law here, if they haven't already, I will be among the first to be SWATed.

So, now that we have this new law, restricting ammo sales, I have no idea how it works? Do we need to sit there at the counter waiting for a criminal background check, or come back in ten days, like when buying a gun in this fucked up state? Thanks, Liberals!

I have made the prediction that at some point a brick of .22 ammo will serve as a form of currency.
Unlike a 'government promissory note' a brick has real value. Can be used for defense, recreation, gathering food, or competition shoots. Where-as a dollar in Calif. is pretty much only good for use as rolling paper for whacky weed.

Build stronger shelves. [Razz]

Yes, reinforcing shelves was a priority for a couple days.

But, I just read an email from NRA. It says as of July 1, all hunting in California must be with lead free bullets! Just when you think the Climate Change bullshit can't get any more stupid, now, suddenly, lead is more radioactive than uranium. It's stupid, but it's easy to plant a seed and watch the hysteria grow. First it was a small area of the Sespi Wilderness along the coast because a couple condors died and the necropsy found remnants of fragments of lead from bullets. Conjecture said that these birds, while eating roadkill, which is what condors do, instead of nice juicy parts like liver and onions, they poke around and dine on those delicious bullet fragments in a dead rabbit or deer, or whatever. Because, defying logic, hunters shoot these critters and then leave them where they are easy to see from the air. Well, SOMETHING MUST BE DONE!

The idea took hold and now you can almost get arrested for using a lead sinker when there are much more expensive substitutes are available. Never mind that lead is an extremely common element in the environment and has been in the ground for a long time. Ask anybody with a metal detector about searching for gold nuggets and you will hear how common it is to find lead bullets scattered all over yonder. Suddenly we have a crisis and the Lefties know that you can't let those things go to waste.

It's knee jerk overreaction, but you can't be too careful with the environment. The extent of the overreaction is mind boggling. They cannot point to any significant danger or harm to wildlife or the environment, forget proof, use your head! Lead is poisonous, right? So, let's ban it, right?

You know, humans are getting more stupid every friggin' day! And, this lead free bullet ban for hunting is proof. By the way, in the hundreds of dollars in pistol ammo I have purchased lately, none of it is lead free.

I can see the day when SWAT will kick in my door at 3 A.M. and confiscate every last lead bullet I own because they are creating records of purchases and they know right where to look. Just like gun registration leading to gun confiscation just as night follows day.

Keep your powder dry!
Good hunting.

Yeah, right, Lance. Kansas is so special, a Liberal legislature could never pass an outrageous law like they do in The Land Of The Fruits And The Nuts. Right?

They could never be as stupid as those idiots in The People's Republik, huh?

Kinda the point - we don't allow liberal legislatures in Kansas. Governors? Yes. All in? Hell no.
