I need some help from the folks who are more in-the-know on aftermarket gun parts.

I have a .257-300 WSM that's a main squeeze coyote rifle. It works great, except; it's built on an ADL Remington action and the blind magazine/spring set up sucks for the WSM cartridge. It helps if I only run it 2+1 and after any mileage jostling on a wheeler or the saddle scabbard, I have to "repack" the magazine so each cartridge is properly forward/back/lateral so it feeds smoothly once the action starts. It hasn't cost me any coyotes yet, but it's just an all around pain in the ass I'm sick of dealing with.

Googling shows other WSM folks experiencing similar issues and solving them by utilizing detachable box magazines. So..

What's the best detachable box magazine offering for the WSM's?

Can my current fiberglass ADL stock be inletted for the DBM and I only have to add the custom bottom metal, or does this modification require a whole new stock?

Thanks for the help.

Two options for WSM/SAUM based mags:

ACCURATE

ALPHA

I have a few of both.
The Alpha will allow for a bit more OAL, but CS seems to be 'spotty' with them.

They are both AICS based, therefore will work in any compatible DBM. If you're feeling inspired & handy, you can 'inlet' the DBM yourself. But, if you're wanting a nice clean job, have a 'smith do the fitting...

There is a company called CDI Precision who will inlet your stock for FREE with the purchase of their DBM. Just pay for shipping. GREAT deal, and something you might consider for 'one stop shopping'...

Good luck!

I didn't look at the links, but it seems to me that Winchester delt with a similar issue when they first came out with the new Model 70? We are talking the dark ages, mid sixties or so? They installed a spacer to the rear of the box magazine because they economized and used just the long action, for all chamberings. Cartridges such as the 225Winchester would otherwise be pretty sloppy. But, it worked, depending on your definition. A former partner had one; it wasn't the most handsome rifle I ever saw, but he liked it.

Hey if somebody does the install for free if you buy their gear, I'd jump on it.

Good hunting. El Bee

Another option is the wyatts dbm, you can run up to 3.6 oal.
Not the prettiest option but it works well on my 7 wsm.
