My Cur dog has been having eye trouble. I noticed that her eyes just didn't look right and she was acting weird. So I took her to the vet. After he examined her, he gave me the name of a eye specialist for canines. After an office visit about 10 X the price of my vet the eye dr tells me my dog has a detached retina with a hole in it in her right eye. Closest place that does surgery is in Chicago, but pretty much too late for it anyways. So she is blind in her right eye. Now for her left eye, it has also a partially detached retina, but she can still see out of it for now.

After asking how something like this can happen, he believes there may be an infection that is causing this. After I mentioned I take her to AZ occasionally, he says I need to have my vet do a blood workup on her and he should be informed of the "Valley Fever" possibility. We still don't know if Valley fever is the culprit or what actually is.

Have any of you guys ever heard of anything like this?

Tim Behle almost died twice from Valley Fever but his was a respiratory fungal infection. Don't know if it's the same disease or not.

Dan,
I have always been led to believe that Valley Fever was a fungal 'lung thing'.
After reading your post I Googled 'canine valley fever'. It took a wee bit of looking but apparently Valley Fever can also affect joints, organs and eyes.
Scary shit for dog owners.

Why, knowing about these things would I seriously consider moving to AZ?

Yeah, he almost died and apparently did not appreciate it, his run of luck. Ol' Tim just doesn't seem like the same guy we used to know?

Good hunting. El Bee

PS I have company for the weekend, a couple ladies, very respectable, of course.

But, because I knew they were coming, I didn't have my traditional Corned Beef and Cabbage on St. Patrick's Day like I normally would. So, we are having it today, in about 1 1/2 hours from now. And, I am so looking forward to it! I never had corned Beef until I knew Nancy, she being very Irish and all.

Since then, it is a tradition every year, even more important since she has passed away. Bon Appetite !

Valley Fever is common here in California Central Valley. Its a fungus. I know a bunch of people that have or have had it. A guy I work with had it 2 years ago and missed tons of work and almost died. Lungs fucked up and joints too. Another had 2 lung transplants, never really recovered and recently passed away. The most in shape, badass guy I knew. Dead.

They say we all have it here, its just gets some people sometimes and others it never does.

I was born with chronic asthma and have been here all my life, running around the deserts and breathing in all the good farm dirt locally..so Ill probly die soon.
Edit to say.. I meant my lungs are already screwed so I'm more susceptible.

Umm....yes, for me too! Never understood him dropping out like he did, I took it sort of personally?

I never have did/done Facebook. There's something a little too, "Central Planning Commune Directive" about the whole thing, and Zinzberg looks like a babyfaced, curly haired, liberal fagot, to me?

Thank you. Zuckerberg it is. This guy has an estate n Hawaii with high block walls about a mile long and the neighbors don't like it. But, it's like when the newbies move to McNeal and start locking gates that haven't been locked in fifty years.

Anyway, as I understand it, these walls obstruct the local's view of the Pacific Ocean, and (of course) we can't have that, as they drive by, you really do need to have an unobstructed view of the ocean and why doesn't this genius understand this?
