I just looked at FOX and noticed that my brisket is still 3 1/2 hours until finished.

No problem because the HYPE "Pre-Game" show is 4 1/2 hours long!

I heard the NFL is worried about Millennials and their short attention span. SO they are kicking around the idea of shortening the game.

Well, fuck that! Just eliminate all the "COMMERCIAL" time outs. That would be about half the damned time outs, more than that if the game was relatively penalty free.

While we are at it, a FOUR AND A HALF HOUR PREGAME SHOW is friggin' ridiculous! When I was a kid, wasn't pregame shows about an hour? I don't even remember a so called pregame show on Monday night Football? Do you? Just Hank Williams getting us ready for some football.

I'm with Vic!

I have watched a couple over the years, but I could count them on one hand. I haven't watched a regular season game ever, that I remember.

MMMMM... Brisket.

I love brisket, but haven't cooked one in quite a while. Maybe now the price of beef down some, I'll splurge on one.

How do you cook yours?

El Bee;
When you were a kid, pre-game shows were shorter because they hadn't invented electricity yet to power the amps.

Brisket is ready but we'll wait until halftime.

I marinaded it overnight in red wine vinegar and lemon juice with a splash of steak sauce. It went in the crockpot at 7:15 this morning, on low, covered in onion slices. After 6 hours, I drowned it in Lucile's BBQ sauce and I put it on "keeps warm" right at kickoff.

No grand recommendation, yet. I bought the cooker just before Christmas, so we shall see?

Important observation about the game: Lady GaGa shit all over Beyonce, in halftime shows.

Second, after the way they played in the NFC title game two weeks ago, I should have given them, (Falcons) more credit.

I guess Brady don't need any more rings?

Truthfully, I have never been real big on the Superbowl. I have spent many Sundays in some casino in northern Nevada, the main purpose of which to get some hot grub and watch part of the game, just a side show and an opportunity to get out of the cold. Pulling fur when it's that cold is brutal on your hands, makes it difficult to pick up your cards, too. Whatever, it's nice to just sit in a warm room for a bit.

I gotta say; that was a hell of a comeback! Some might say, it all came down to the coin toss, in overtime.

That was a hard game to lose, too.

Ryan took that sack late in the 4th, pushing the Falcons back to the edge of field goal range. Those extra 3pts woulda sealed the deal for them...
Once their defense started reeling, the Falcons just couldn't make plays.
Not a Pats fan, but gotta give it to 'em. They got shit done, under pressure...

Gaga was good, too.

The game was a study in contrasts. I've seen come from behind wins before but not in a game of this magnitude. Where'd the pompous verbiage come from, Boski?

First half, total Atlanta, second half owned by Boston and halftime dominated by Lady GaGa. That took some balls to be flying around like that. She really is talented.

The sudden death ending was just about as dramatic as you will ever see in a football game, and it was by inches. Personally, I didn't think they had a chance when Atlanta scored to start the second half. I think there were several records broken and set, and Brady is a hell of a quarterback. That's another thing: when they started that drive in overtime, I knew they would score....and so did Atlanta.

Was a very good game. Unfortunately, my cable provider lost the Fox feed right after the 3rd quarter, and it didn't come back on until right before the 2 minute warning in the 4th.

I despise Belichek, and do not like Brady due to some comments he made a couple of years ago about 'common' folk.

I have changed my mind a bit about Brady since I found out he and Trump are friends, and how he acted towards his mother. She has cancer, and the Super Bowl was the first game she has been able to attend this year.

You can tell a lot about the mettle of a man as to how he treats his mom.

I didn't have a dog in this fight since the damn Steelers beat my Chiefs several weeks ago... [Frown]

You know what, booger? The greedy teams have killed off fan loyalty as far as I am concerned. Therefore, I don't live and die for my team. In fact, I really don't give a shit, I just watch with an interest in the game of football.... and even that is tenuous.

It all started with the Rams and moving from the Coliseum to Anaheim. The city gave Georgia 360 prime acres in the middle of the city and she still scalloped Super Bowl tickets. Then, move to St Louis and now back to LA. And they expect fan loyalty? Well, fuck 'em!

Same with the Oakland Raiders and lately Las Vegas. It's all chasing a buck, or a few Billion $.

You could say the same thing about the players, they are whores, just like the owners. And again, we fans are supposed to give a shit? I thought I could transition to college ball but one word: Reggie Bush.

We are being played for suckers. Don't get me started on the NBA! Actually, except for Pete Rose, I still have hopes for Major League Baseball.

The whole spectacle called THE SUPERBOWL is wearing very thin. Geez, it's just a damned game, not WWIII. I really didn't care which team won, I leaned Boston 51%-49% Atlanta.

Professional sports is bait for minorities, Has anybody ever listened to any of them, all with a college education? It's pathetic, folks. Completely uneducated and they better save every dime while they are employed. So, they major in "communications" and think the networks are going to hire play by play announcers when they quit playing. So, that covers about a dozen lucky fellers and the rest will probably never have an honest job. It's like Professional Sports are a narcotic. Every black kid in junior high school wants to be a ball player. That's it.

If they don't make it, the 99%, for the next50 years they will buy overpriced jerseys and shoes and "look good".And, if they have a government job, they will pay exorbitant prices to follow and support their team. So, that's the fan base, inner city blacks will sweat blood for their home team. The ultimate Sucker!

End of Rant!

Good hunting. El Bee

Rich white folks are the fan base for teams around here. Hell, we don't really even have any "inner cities" and for don't have any "inner city blacks". Few poor Mexican illegals but I don't think the NFL is their thing?

Koko, that was called the XFL. Was pretty awesome, except the games mostly sucked. It had potential though.

I hit both half time and final scores on the $10 squares. $600 win. It was a good game.

LB,
I agree with you on the greediness of pro sports. I saw my first MLB game in 1973 when my folks went to see some relatives in Chicago. My mom's cousin's husband took my dad and I to a Cubs game at Wrigley Field.

I definitely remember what it cost to get in...$3.00 a head. Hot dogs were 75 cents and my dad thought that was highway robbery!!!

I believe the cheapest Super Bowl ticket this year was around $4,000, I think??

I do know that if my buddy and I want to go see just a baseball game together in Kansas City, it would cost us each around $100 by the time we factor in parking, our ticket, a couple of beers and a hot dog. Double that if you want to take in a Chief's football game.

I figure if there is a game I really want to watch, I can do so from my Lazy Boy at home!

Koko,
I agree on that! In 2015 when the Royals won the World Series, that was as close to a major league team playing the game like little leaguers that I have ever seen. They did the basics right, hitting, bunting, fielding and running the bases.

It was breath of fresh air since the pro game as morphed into who can hit the most home runs.

As a general rule, I would rather watch college baseball rather than the majors. Those guys play baseball the way it was meant to be played.
