Look closely at these Electoral College numbers

CLINTON/KAINE (86)
California (55) Massachusetts (11)
District Of Columbia (3) Hawaii (4)
Maryland (10) Vermont (3)

TRUMP/PENCE (63)
Alabama (9) Alaska (3)
Arkansas (6) Kentucky (8)
Idaho (4) Nebraska (4)
North Dakota (3) Oklahoma (7)
Tennessee (11) West Virginia (5)
Wyoming (3)

Then, notice that these are solid votes for each candidate.

In other words, winner take all in California, which awards 55 votes, all by itself. Meaning, without a proportional system. of the 35 million people in the state, maybe 15 million Republican votes are wasted! Hillary gets them all

And, Trump is secure in ELEVEN STATES, but he only gets 63 electoral votes out of that mess.

What would be nice is like in the state of Maine where it's not winner take all. if California was proportional and maybe Trump would get (?) 20 electoral votes versus 35 for the Bitch.

But, it doesn't work that way and Hillary can skate with 55 votes in California without lifting a finger. She is guaranteed 55 electoral votes courtesy of The People's Republik.

Anyway, it's going to take a miracle. Pray!

So, how & why was the Electoral Collage set up in the first place ??
Who decided on the rules & such ??
And, how the Hell did they come up with a system that one could win the 'popular' vote and still lose the election in the 'Electoral' vote ??

Good question! But, there are good reasons for how it was set up, in the first place. Way too involved to get into here, but I'm only pointing out a couple of glaring problems with a state that bundles up a wad of 55 EV, winner take all. It's a perpetual gift to the fuking Democrats, every election!

Same with Illinois and New York. Apparently, when you have a large population, they seem to gravitate to LIBERAL policies of "free stuff". That free stuff is courtesy of taxpayers in Red states.

You know, the Democrats think a lot like communists, want to outlaw certain things and speech they don't agree with. Like, they would probably outlaw the NRA, if they could? I'm all for outlawing the Democrat Party, and see how they like it?

In my lifetime, politics has become particularly polarized. You can't get anything through congress by negotiation. Hillary openly talks about Republicans as THE ENEMY! How can you get anything done, with an attitude like that? Obama is the worst. He couldn't negotiate with congress to save his life, he doesn't know how. His method is; My way, or the highway.

There apparently is no moderate position in politics any more? Hillary actually does consider Republicans as worse enemies than the Chinese or the Russians. No camaraderie, at all. It really stinks.

And, getting back to the vote, when the Democrats have minorities and the poor in their hip pocket, you can't fight it. Their solution has always been, tax the middle class and give free stuff to minorities. That's a big part of her plank, free college for everyone....except the middle-class, they have been selected to pay for all the giveaways.

You know, in my humble situation, it's ludicrous, at my age, and my modest income, that I still have to pay income tax, when illegal aliens get more free stuff and have accumulated income of more than I get, when you consider housing subsidies and food stamps and aid to dependent children. Something is wrong with that equation.

Liberals are wrecking the country!

Do a search on who set up the electoral college and why and you'll get your answer. It was the founders, BTW.

As far as my opinion is concerned. I don't have a problem with the Electoral College.

The problem is that huge chunk of California votes. It seems a little unreasonable that out of the 35 million citizens of this state, perhaps 15 million would not vote for Hillary but it doesn't matter, Hillary gets all the EV.

Point #2. I'm really hazy on the numbers, but I think in the whole Republican primaries, The vote total for all states in all the states that held a primary, there were only 14 million votes cast. I think? Somebody said it was the most primary votes ever?

Anyway, a lot of the states, in the primaries did have proportional votes, and some had winner take all. So, I think it could be changed, with a concentrated effort. Maybe they should think about it.

What I'd really like to see is this LIBERAL STATE divided into two, three or four separate states. Because only the heavily populated coast is Liberal. If there were an "Eastern California" it would be a RED STATE!

KoKo, the founding fathers set up the electoral college up because there was no mass communication back it the good ole days. People voted for a local electorial official that represented their beliefs. The elected officials then go to Washington and cast their vote. Each state receives one electoral vote for each Senator and Representative. All of the above was set in place by the founding fathers and is U.S. law.

The states run the elections. The states can set up a proportional system where the electoral vote will represent the percentage each candidate gets, or they can make it a winner takes all system which is what most states do. Since the Dems control kommyfornia's government, they want to be a winner take all state.

For more detailed information do what Moe suggests.
