Had a couple friends in for the weekend. After two days of fishing, we blasted into the City for a quick 'go round'. Ditched the truck in a garage and walked a few blocks to the site of the Twin Towers. Now, the 9/11 Memorial pools represent the footprint of where each Tower stood...
As we walked toward the Memorial pool of Tower #1, a very strange sensation came across me. A flush of goosebumps and tears flowed as we neared the pool, with the fountains of water cascading down into a marbled abyss. Feeling it again now, even as I type...

Tower #2 pool...

The names of those who died are etched around the perimeter of each pool. Some had flags slipped between a letter of a name, and some had flowers. A sobering reminder of how many loved ones visit to pay their respects.
This white rose couldn't last long in the Summer heat, must've been just placed. Looking back to the north, with the Freedom Tower shining above the Memorial...

Glad to have my buddies visit and have a blast on the boats. And definitely glad they suggested a trip to NYC to see the Memorial. So, just figured to share a couple pics with you all, as Life changed for all of us that day...

Thank you Fred. I don't post very much but I do check in on a daily basis. I have always wanted to ask you about the Memorial but was afraid it might open old wounds and memories so again Thank You.

Yes thanks for sharing. I've had some friends visit there and they had a very similar reaction. I've been to the OKC memorial a few times and the children's chair always gets me.

It truly changed us all.

The thought of the images from that day bring a flood of feelings in me. Mostly anger. I have pictures of my daughters and me standing atop one of the World Trade Center towers from when I was working back east.

Thanks for posting this. Very nice to see what came out of all of that chaos.

Glad to share, gents!!!

And my sentiments exactly, Moe!
Walked away from there FIRED UP & thinking again that there should be a "9/12 Memorial" glass plateau somewhere in the ME, courtesy of an ICBM.

After the attacks, the whole world braced for Hiroshima/Nagasaki, Episode III. But our pussified Exec branch wimped out. And that same delusional reasoning has only served to embolden those hateful goatfuckers...

Heard about this excursion elsewhere. Kinda wondered what your reaction was. Turns out, it was pretty much as I figured. Thank for the pics!
