From what I've read, the Corona Virus is pretty much the Flu's wimpy cousin, but it makes for good press, and you know the Mantra; "Never let a good crisis go to waste".
Italy is trying to figure out how to 'lockdown' 16 million people.
Washington State is considering 'mandatory measures'.
Travel restrictions are in place and bans on large public gatherings are being talked about.
Etcetera etcetera etcetera.
Seems like if our Constitutional Rights aren't being trampled, they're at least being stepped on.
For the public good, of course.
Would the Loony Left would love to use this to take over Health Care. ?????
And......... while they're at it, to confiscate or ban private ownership of guns to prevent rioting and looting. ??????
All for the Public Good, of course.
Nothing to see here folks. Move along.

Nothing to joke about. This corona virus is nowhere near as deadly as the annual flu variety but seems so much more sexy. CORONA VIRUS=FLU? Doesn't take a genius, especially since the flu has apparently killed 28,000 people so far this season and CORONA VIRUS hasn't hit 100 yet.

But, if Democrats can weaponize this disease and use it to damage Trump because "he isn't doing enough", then it's well worth the effort!

Liberals/Democrats are such assholes! Win, Baby! Lie, cheat, steal, whatever it takes....win dirty, dishonorably, disgustingly dishonestly, just win!

I guess people are hoarding toilet paper now ?

I don't follow your reasoning on that, ko ko? But, never mind.

What continues to amaze me is that we have all these fatal things going on, traffic accidents, heart attacks and strokes, and the flu! All of these conditions are racking up the body count but the BFD is corona virus, which is a pipsqueak in comparison.

I got two emails from my banks this morning, both virtually identical: they truly want to help in this crisis situation and recommend that I use online banking but if I go to the bank, be assured that they are using a stronger disinfectant now and have hand sanitizers all over the place. I'm getting "warm fuzzies" because they obviously, really care about me!

Got up to rain this morning, coming down fairly steady. I wasn't paying close attention last night but did hear something about it so I wasn't very surprised. I think they said to expect it until Sunday, which is (lemmie see?) several days from now! Just my luck! I tried to get a couple prescriptions yesterday afternoon and failed! Hmm? they close at 5 o'clock, not 5:30? So, I will have to brave the elements this morning!

What will Tillie do? She doesn't seem to have sense enough to stay out of the rain, under a perfectly adequate porch so she already smells like wet dog from when I let her out at 5:30. She has this habit of peeing on concrete, but not #2. My son said that one of his dogs does the same thing, he's not sure which one but the odds are, it could be hereditary because, excluding the Chihuahua, two of his four hounds are her parents. She's already bigger than her mom but it's doubtful she will get much bigger; her father is a brute @75 lbs. Oh yeah, I'm told that her father always licks the ice cream bowl, and amazingly, so does Tillie! There just might be something to this genetics stuff?

Good hunting. El Bee

edit: hoarding TP? In fact, I saw a clip of people swiping TP from another customer's cart while their backs were turned. Also, two plump ethnic ladies were filmed battling and pulling hair over the same thing. But why should that be a critical commodity due to "DEADLY DISEASE"? Beat's me?

Worried about being quarantined I guess ?

Posted by Leonard (Member # 2) on March 10, 2020, 09:48 AM:

Ah! Thank you! Had not occurred to me? What does Q say about possible quarantine?

Right now, here it's fuking AMMO! Went to Walmart yesterday to see if those 4 boxes of 22lr were still behind the glass. I was turned away 3 days ago because there wasn't a qualified sales person available for another hour, which I didn't want to screw around, so....

yesterday, I looked, and the sporting goods department is a ghost town, as it has been for a long time. I pushed the red button 4 times and finally a person showed up with a negative attitude before she even saw me and it progressed. She seemed to know that I didn't have the new drivers license and showed me the regulations where if I didn't, I had to have a background check, with a fee and produce a passport and 3 other documents that I don't remember? Anyway, that's why those cabinets appear not to have been opened in 3 days, nobody can crack the price of admission. But still, it was tempting, those 4 boxes sitting behind the glass for 2 dollars and although I sure as hell don't need them, around here, it's almost like money. That's another thing, when all the shortages began, a while back, I sold a brick of Winchester 22's to the pool guy and for twenty dollars, it was a little less than they had cost me, at least a year previous. Anyway, it's more now, seems like all ammunition is more expensive than last year?

The thing is, these cocksuckers in Sacramento have really interfered with my ability to purchase ammunition. As I understand, getting an appointment at DMV just to have issued the new bulletproof driver's license is almost insurmountable.

That's another thing. The clerk at Walmart told me it was in my best interest to bite the bullet, make an appointment and get the new driver's license. I won't be able to be abused by the TAA because that new license is required to board a fuking plane. All for my own good; and safety.

Oops! Just remembered! We are going to Hawaii in September so I need to get that done anyway. And, my damned passport is expired!

Don't laugh at me. It's coming your way! New York just passed the plastic bag law, and everybody is very happy about that!

What fucking country do you live in ! I can go to the hardware store and buy ammo !

Posted by Leonard (Member # 2) on March 11, 2020, 09:35 AM:

It's insane! Apparently, that ammo is just to look at? That department is remote, with a red button to push for assistance. Then, after a suitable waste of time, somebody will show up and tell you why it cannot be done. It's exasperating, and you people are laughing at me instead of commiserating!

Here's the thing. I already have 10-12 pounds of powder, thousands of bullets, and at least 15 thousand various primers. I'm set for the next 20 years on rifle and several pistol calibers, I have 25 or 26 sets of dies, rifle and handgun.

Okay? Besides that I have a couple thousand dollars worth of factory handgun ammunition. I don't have ANY factory rifle ammo, almost all of my rifles have never seen a factory round.

But, I have stocked up on handgun ammo the past couple of years....just because. I'm sure that I have a 20 or 30 year supply, not counting that I have the ability to reload the empty brass as needed, sometimes with premium bullets and sometimes with high performance and high velocity light for caliber bullets.

But still, even though I have no need for ANY ammunition, now or in the next few years, it bothers me what those cocksuckers in Sacramento have done! And, I'm not getting over it.

Good hunting. El Bee

edit: that's another thing. Along with shoplifting at Walmart, etc. BassProShops has discovered the need to enclose all the ammunition behind glass cases. You stand in line and then walk down the aisles and select what you want, the clerk unlocks that particular glass, selects your purchase, but you still can't touch it. He locks it up and you on down to the next slider and point. then he goes to a special register and enters all your data and all in all depending on how many are in line, it doesn't take much over an hour or so. Turner's has all ammo behind the counter, now. Nothing out where you can actually touch it before purchase. Brave New World!

Now there's an idea!

You know, I'd like to read a report sometime on interviews with homeless people, how the fuk they got that way? I can certainly see being thrown out of the house by a disgusted parent. But most of these people are well into adult status.

The theory I hear most often is it all started around the Reagan administration, when people were institutionalized for their own good/not enough sense to come in out of the rain, etc. So, instead of a "jail/lite" situation, you couldn't hold these people unless they agreed to it, and nobody agrees to being restricted....so, all these medical facilities closed shop and Liberals are self congratulating and LET FREEDOM RING, etc.

But now we have these marginally dangerous people that would accidentally set their house on fire if they had one? And, there are charitable organizations that offer free accommodations, but they have silly rules, like no smoking weed in bed and no throwing your empty wine bottles under the bed and the BIGGIE, no shooting up in bed and no peeing in bed and no destroying your bed looking for the DEA cameras, etc. Seems some people just can't tolerate all of those police state rules....so they decide to steal a shopping cart and live in an underpass where there is freedom from THE MAN!

And, that's basically the origin of these tent cities, so they say. Thanks to Liberals, we have crazy people walking the streets, instead of being locked up for their own good.

Okay, I think I'm a seer since I knew 30 years ago that sending all the manufacturing to China so that Walmart could sell cheap shit was misguided. The first thing I remember when everybody was going nuts over CB Radio, it came out that there wasn't a single radio or TV set made in the United States! I mean, what the fuck?

The plan has been, for decades, for the president, CEO, owner or the "Board" of all these American companies to transfer all the technology, and manufacturing expertise to be transferred to China. Add to that the vast amount of intellectual property they stole, how to make batteries and bootlegging Hollywood movies. The list goes on and on. China is Thugs, no respect for international law.

But, take any Red Blooded American Company you can think of, John Deer Tractors, Schwin bicycles, all that stuff. They lay off several thousand employees, same all that labor and one person gets rich, the CEO or owner or the Board of Directors. Then, all those laid off people are working for minimum wages at Walmart, no retirement, no thanks for building the company and no howdy do!

And, in the meantime, China become a world power on the backs of American citizens. Oh, and now they are threatening to withhold the drugs we need to combat corona virus! Brilliant idea, send all drug manufacturing to China! What could go wrong? Duh!

Paul! Attention, please!

Look, I went to the store yesterday. Parking was a wait until somebody was pulling out. No shopping carts in front of the store but I lucked into one without much trouble. First clue, the line at the first register was out and turned left half way down into the produce department. The rest of the check stands were all clogged to the point that I would rather go down most of the way and turn around rather than fight those people in the various lines.

Now, the shelves were about 50% bare. Things like beans and soup and other canned goods, prepared stuff, very picked over. No cabbage at all for St Patrick's Day Corned Beef & Cabbage. There were a few packages of corned beef, like 3 or 4. Some isles, like water, bare shelves, nothing!

The lady in front of me at the 15 items or less checkstand, she had 15 boxes of Kleenex, I assume because they were out of toilet paper, maybe that was one of the isles I didn't bother to go down because there wasn't anything on the shelves?

People are freaking out, panic buying stuff they probably don't need? A black woman pushed a cart that was PLUMB FULL of canned goods. I've never seen anything like it.

But, the sheep were orderly, no stealing from your cart while your back was turned, although I didn't really see any unguarded carts? I felt a little anxiety at checking out because I only bought 40 bucks worth, but how much can you spend and still qualify for 15 items or less?

I snapped a couple pictures and sent them to my daughter. This was at Stater Bro's. She, in turned sent me back 3 photos from Trader Joe's, same thing, empty shelves.

How exciting it was! Something to tell the grandkids about the good old days, for sure!

Stay outta KS. Anyone not already here, stay the phuck out. I still don't understand why you insist on staying there, LB, and dealing with all that bullshit. No background checks for ammo here. Buy all you want or can. Gun grabbing? LOL One day after the Greensburg tornado, an LEO tried to remove the guns from a severely damaged home in the name of "public safety", The shit hit the fan and what was left of the town erupted. Within days - DAYS - the state legislature enacted a law forbidding law enforcement or anyone else from seizing guns in crisis situations. All volunteers and responders to tornado-damaged locations are now instructed up front - and you have to be signed into the disaster zone, no looky-loos - that if/when you find a firearm, law enforcement is to be contacted immediately and their job is to do everything possible to locate the owner and get their gun back to them. We treat guns like lost children and consider them just as valuable.

As a proud prepper, I'm shaking my damned head at how average people are reacting to this, but not at all surprised. If things get so bad that I'm out of toilet paper, that garden hose out back will double as a fine redneck bidet.

Koko,

In today's mail stream, the only people (on average) who actually lay hands on any given piece of mail is three, maybe four - the sender, the carrier that gets it outta your mailbox, the clerk or carrier who delivers it to their PO box or mailbox, and the recipient.

You drop a letter in your mailbox, your carrier picks it up, it goes in a large hamper bin that goes on a truck. The hamper is dropped off at a processing center which dumps that bin into a larger bin which then sends the letters through machines that face the mail up and separate it by type of postage, all computerized. The mail is then faced and fed into another big assed machine which does an amazing job of reading even the most difficult handwriting, then it paints or places a sticker carrying a barcode which tells everything from start to stop about that letter's trip. That barcode then is read at numerous points along the journey as the letter is routed first into regional, then zone conveyances. Once at the destination distribution processing center, those letters are e-read again and everything is processed three times through computers that separate them into not just the city, and the route, but puts them into the exact sequence for every delivery route in that zip code - called DPS , or delivery point sequencing.

You touched it. Maybe your carrier touched it throwing it into their satchel or tub in their vehicle, the carrier or clerk at the other end touched it to put it in whatever you get your mail out of and then you touch it when you get your mail. In between all that, it's all computers and mile-long machines.

I've been in one Processing Center, Topeka, Kansas, and that place was relatively small compared to the big operations on the coasts. They had 26 sorting machines running, processing 75,000+ letters each hour, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. As inefficient as some people think the PO is, you only have to see that once to wonder how anything gets anywhere.
And yes, I have thought about all the people who handle and slobber all over their outgoing mail but I find comfort in thinking about ppl who are forced to handle cash, when I start thinking or ball/ butt/ booby sweat all over that. How often have you seen then guy standing in line at the Quicky Mart waiting to pay with a 20 in his hand wiping the snot balls off his nose after he just got done scratching shit you don't wanna think about?

I'd rather be elbows deep in coyote blood then have to actually touch most people anymore.

I must have missed something? Prescott is now the Big City, civilization, so to speak? Do they still have horse races at Prescott Downs? There's a sort of "Shotgun Bar" downtown, not far rom the park. One of those places, long and narrow where, when you pull the trigger, you will kill everybody inside. Beats Tombstone's OK Corral , which is kinda tame, Victor! Stafford is too Mormon for any excitement, whatsoever; I mean, besides BINGO. Is there a bar in town, yet? I think Stafford invented The Stepford Wives?

In my dreams, I can see myself ensconced within the lovely community of Dove Mountain. That will do nicely. Then, I just might return to the accursed game of golf, round #2.

You could say most doctor offices were ghost towns yesterday.
We were met at the door and screened before we were allowed in.
Seen the PAC and yesterday was the last day they would physically see patience. Today they were to start calling patience to tell them all elective surgeries are cancelled until farther notice. If you have problems they would try to help you over the phone. They wouldn't even give me a date for my one year checkup in Sept. They said they'd call.
Traffic was almost like 10-15 years ago. There were people out but nothing like the new norm.
Was at the lumber store a little while ago and a guy was wanting small latex gloves. Gal looked it up and it said there would be no restocking of latex gloves. They are stock piling all medical supplies in case this pandemic actually happens since there is or will be a major shortage of medical supplies.
All government employees have been sent home today and offices shut down. Be happy to stay home.
So I'm not sure if I still have an appointment with my GP on Thursday? Will have to check tomorrow.

I would gladly stay home and take a call but I really need a shot in my shoulder to calm it down. I get about 4-5 hours of good sleep a night then it's toss and roll and feel it screaming and throbbing the rest of the night. Usually when I get up it lets up because I can start moving it more. This morning it's still angry and telling me it's angry.

Will see what happens later today. I can take my own blood pressure too. No way for temp. But on Monday there wasn't a fever and BP was okay.

Perhaps it's like I said before, in a rare lucid moment. The severity and the crisis and the panic of this Chinese Virus is primarily because of our political affiliation. It's similar to Trump Derangement Syndrome. SOB Never Trumpers and Democrats of every stripe will play Chicken Little and claim the sky is falling based on virtually nothing. Conservatives, on the other hand, being a bit more intelligent than the average Liberal; they will take necessary precautions and avoid hysteria....for the most part. So, choose your poison and take sides. Perhaps it will make a difference?

If you never give humans much credit for brains, you won't be disappointed very often.

edit: PS I'm going to Walmart. When I get back expect a full report! Unless I'm arrested for not sheltering in place?

PPS but that would be rather rich. They are releasing murder suspects and arresting people that defy the quarantine ban?

Hey El Bee;
Remember that WW1 gas mask that you kept 'just in case' ????
You might want to dig it out and start wearing it when you're out in public. The looks that you would get would be priceless and who knows ...... somebody might offer you serious coin for it.

So, first of all, the store wasn't all that crowded, when I got inside, I saw why. Anything sold in a can was not available. Rationing fluid milk. No hamburger, as in ground beef. I saw one brand of bottled water, Evian. Less than 10 cases. Dog food? I scored a bag of expensive designer puppy chow, apparently pitbulls won't eat it? They (dogs) are stocked up on ground beef, I guess, which is a little cheaper.

No hand sanitizer, but every empty cart I saw had a bunch of discarded sanitary wipes laying in the bottom. You know, the ones that we wipe down the cart handle? I was very surprised they were available, actually. Produce was pretty well stocked, better than the durable stuff. Baked good were very picked over, except the in house Walmart stuff like the rolls and muffins, etc.

That's about it except for a curious thing. You know those brakes they put on the wheels of the carts so that you can't push them off the property? I had to try 8 or 10 before I found one that I could move! Chinese virus infecting shopping carts? They were left abandoned all over the parking lot, and every one had used sanitary wipes on the bottom. People are becoming germ freaks! Used to be, maybe 25% of people bothered to wipe down their cart handles. Not any more!

That's it, ko ko. Back to you in the studio!

My daughter told me last night, when I told her all about my Walmart adventure that up where she is, they let seniors in the store an hour early, on the theory that there might be something on the shelves. She also said, (and this blew my mind) that she is expecting an Amazon shipment of toilet paper today. And I told her that it's totally ridiculous, the whole idea of buying TP over the Internet and having it delivered. I'm now convinced that the fucking Chinese are gonna win and we will lose. Reason: like somebody said when Barry was president, we has a virus going around for 6 months and 1,000 people died before anybody even gave it a thought, much less blamed the president for sleeping at the switch! After thinking about it overnight, it came to me: the Media loved Obama and they hate Trump! Sometimes, when I come up with something this profound, I think, Boy, Boski, you are a real sharp cookie! Yet, I'm still in The Land of the Fruits and the Nuts....

edit: I remember when I was still working, rubbing elbows with techno geeks and we would get the Times every morning and it was like kids reading the funny papers. Only we were all looking at the 4 page Fry's ad for deals on RAM and shit like that. I'm talking about the big electronics store, not the grocery store Fry's. We don't have any Fry's grocery stores anywhere around here, but I used to drive to Orange County to shop at Fry's and just marvel at all the goodies. Right now, I haven't been in a Fry's in 6 or 8 years, and there's one in City of Industry.

What I don't understand about Wally World is that when open for 24 hours there were xxx # of customers. Now, with panic buying there are even more customers and the hours have been reduced to almost half, resulting in more people in the same space. The Social Distancing math ain't working here.

Isn't this just one of the many times you wished Obama was President, again? Then, the Media wouldn't be second guessing every damned thing he did and he would do nothing anyway. Think about it, no panic buying and hoarding! Yes sir! I sure wish Obama was back and handling this crisis the way only he and his jumpshot can do it! And there'd be another clinker and the Press would swoon. Oh my God, that bastard deserves to be beat with Hillary's dick! And, other than that, I thank God every day that Hillary ain't president!

They are NOT big dogs! All you have to do is make a fist and smash them in the lips into the front teeth. Do that a couple of times and they learn fast not to do it. Unless they have been beaten about the head and neck and finally have had enough and take it out on you. Then you probably deserve it.

Hey Paul;
What actually changed the history of the world was when somebody put a saddle on a horse and then put stirrups on the saddle.
There was a program on the History Channel a while back on the stirrup. Simple concept that had huge implications for the military, allowing men to be better at being mean to each other.

Question; Do you get Morel Mushrooms up there in the spring ????

Morning has broken like the first morning
Blackbird has spoken like the first bird
Praise for the singing
Praise for the morning
Praise for them springing fresh from the world
Sweet the rain's new fall, sunlit from heaven
Like the first dew fall on the first grass
Praise for the sweetness of the wet garden
Sprung in completeness where his feet pass
Mine is the sunlight
Mine is the morning
Born of the one light Eden saw play
Praise with elation, praise every morning
God's recreation of the new day
Morning has broken like the first morning
Blackbird has spoken like the first bird
Praise for the singing
Praise for the morning
Praise for them springing fresh from the world

Damn! The LA County Sheriff just closed all gun shops! Says they are nonessential. I don't know about you, but it reminds me of firearm confiscation after that hurricane in Louisiana. I don't fuking like it, AT ALL!

A gun shop is just as essential in this situation as a drug store or where you buy food, if food were available. It's a heavy handed solution, if you ask me....but BassProShops responded like, immediately.

under what authority can the sheriff order gun stores to close? Seems to me an order of that magnitude would have to come from at least a governor?

Denver mayor made an announcement Monday afternoon that all marijuana dispensaries and liquor stores would be closing down. Well guess what happened? In no time flat there were lines out the door at both and with in two hours flat, the mayor came back out and recanted that order.
Can't have people without their weed and liquor, for gods sake. This state has priorities....real fucked up priorities, but priorities none the less. [Roll Eyes]

They said this Sheriff is the coordinator for the National Guard and other emergency services, so apparently, he does have that authority. LB

edit: but seems to me, in a National Emergency, that's not the time for any part of government to restrict gun and ammunition sales.

Note the particularly lame statement by the anti gun senator!

edit: I'm saving you the trouble of clicking on it:
quote:
Senator Chris Murphy (D., Ct.) tweeted that it is “so sickening” that people want to “to stockpile assault weapons, instead of food, to get ready for the coming Coronavirus civil war.”

only sickening to those who want to disarm the populace.

Seems to me that when SHTF, a firearm would be worth more then food. With a firearm, I can get food. Just the other day I had about 30 head of antelope just 30 yards behind the house. If ya know what I mean.

didn't need to feed em. Between the left over salt block that the cattle left behind last summer, and the stock tank that is full of water, they have enough reason to come around on occasion.

Off the wall thoughts ............ Thinking out loud.

If there are mental defects that go out and fire weapons into crowds of total strangers, how long will it be before some loser with the virus goes out with the intention of infecting others ??
And, given the irresponsible media that would report it non-stop, there would likely be copy-cats doing the same.

Yeah, and lately, all I'm hearing is that these "Millennials" will automatically transform as soon as they own something of value and start paying taxes. I'm not confident of that at all.

I spend time on these dating sites, hustling pussy...I mean, trying to meet ladies; ya know? You would not believe how many women mention in their profiles how Liberal they are and how much they hate Trump. It's MSNBC indoctrination, it's amazing! Of course, I'm looking at females close to me and we all know how fucked up California is! So, I can't resist poking at them! I spend more time pissing off these progressive women than scoring pussy! Oh well, just doing my part.
