We have a light spring rain here, this morning. But, the nights are still chilly, high 30's, low 40's. I'm ready!

Good hunting. El Bee

edit: my Iris patch got pretty gnarly so I dug it up. No regrets.

Equinox isn't for another six weeks and I am sooooo ready for Spring when a man's fancy turns to ....... poking arrows in spawning carp.
I did NOT move to Southern Arizona to be cold. A couple of fires in the woodstove and enough already. Think warm thoughts !!!

Yeah, and BOY, does the thought of spring carp make my mouth water!

edit: I used to wait for them torpedoing over the spillway on Minnehaha Creek, south of Lake Nokomis. I would brain them with my 9 iron and they would turn belly up and I would race downstream to club them again from the flagstone bank. Had to be fast or they would recover. Just doing my part to keep trash fish out of Lake Hiawatha.
For some reason, many of the streams and waters around South Minneapolis were named after characters in Henry Wadsworth Longfellow’s epic poem; The Song of Hiawatha.

Good hunting. El Bee 🐝

edit: everything in Minnesota is either “knotty pine” or “Flagstone”

the only people I have ever seen eat carp is Asians. To me, it's revolting.

Spring my ASS!!
Have a foot of snow or more on the ground and more coming at the end of the week.
Temps at night are still quite cold, days are getting a little better.
Yeah I know we moved here. We were told it doesn't snow much and never last long. In the last 5 years we've had record snow and it has lasted very well in the valley.
Oh well it keeps the low lifes out and the ones who just love it here soon move after 5 years of this stuff.
It's just we've had snow on the ground since October. [Big Grin]

It must be because a FRICKING skunk came through the yard last night and the other half let the dog out and you can guess the rest.
He's off to town to find some skunk wash if nothing else we'll do the backing soda, dish soap and hydrogen peroxide thing here in a little while. [Mad]

I hate that, tomato juice

My idiot has much to learn! She doesn't recognize ANY critter, just other dogs, and size is no problem. There are exactly 3 properties that have a pair of German Shepard type dogs as I walk her around the block, or as she drags me around the block, is more accurate. When we get to those gates with the barking dogs, she just looks at them, never a peep out of her. She doesn't seem intimidated, at all, just interested. But she doesn't bark back. I think it must have something to do with how these breeds are trained and bred to bark "Treed" and it's different from howling on the scent. She can do that number, she has an Adam's Apple and a very deep voice. When I howl, she gives me the damnedest look, along with that tilting of the head, but she doesn't join in.

Good hunting. El Bee

Exactly how do you snake train them? My idiot hasn't even been off the pavement yet.

We never snake trained our hounds or our Man Curs.
They just know it's a snake and to be careful of it.
Had a hound who would trail them through the yard bay them up until you got there and wouldn't get close.
Then black mouth cur seems to know what snakes are.
They train dog with a shock collar and a snake either a dead or live one. Every time they go to sniff it they are shocked until they don't want to have anything to do with it.

Ours thinks it's just another big black cat and it needs to be chased. He got into a skunk last year and we went through this.

Paul M, In my flower beds I have a foot of ice from the eve dripping.
Snow coming in tonight. It's going to be a while before we can plant.
Haven't seen open ground for 4 months now. It's getting old.
Still can't believe a skunk out in 12* temps. Tracked him all over the yard. Other half set out skunk traps yesterday. We'll see what happens here in the next few weeks with them.
We seem to be the thorough fare for the cat. They cross through us to go between neighbors. Hoping to thin more of them out too.

Run in place! If you buy it, you know that wood will be wasted until next Christmas. Here's an idea! Wear a sweater....Mr Rogers! Ash Fork's Mr Rogers, sets traps for the local kids if they open the gate. Bah Humbug! You could get sued! Has Ash Fork ever had somebody in small claims? I doubt it? That little old lady up at the twenty dollar motel I stayed at; is she still around? She had to be 85 if she was a day? I bet she fought Injuns, as a teen? Ash Fork has a real interesting yard sale along the main drag. And, are you still the "new Kid on the block"? A FLAT LANDER from Phoenix, and never live it down!

Good hunting. El Bee

Hell, ..........I figured that Paul would be the Mayor of Ash Fork by now.
Or maybe the Sheriff. [Cool]

The ugly little rumor I heard is that he was appointed COMMUNITY ORGANIZER by that new hot chick senator in the red dress. Somebody said the sign on his gate says: STOP GLOBAL WARMING NOW,
DRINK YOUR TOFU
