Woowee it's down right cold out this morning. Hit 18* but it's the wind that isn't helping one bit.

Kind of a rough week. P.T. last week ended up being or turning out rough. Got home and iced down again and while icing kept feeling like the wrap was tightening up. Took it off and the knee had ballooned up big time. Scared us to no end. Spent the next day resting and icing it by evening it had went down somewhat.

Seen the doctor on Friday. He had seen this problem before and it can get serious. It had popped something while at rehab and had bled into the knee until it filled up. Was told to take it easy and try and get the blood moved out. The worst thing is infection.
Don't know if just going to town and so forth caused it but didn't feel well at all yesterday. Feeling like I'll live today and the knee swelling is back down to normal. It's sore so being careful not to over do the stretches. Also with the amount of stretches I've been doing has inflamed the tendon on the ankle so making walking very painful. This just isn't my fall. Didn't get out at all for deer hunting and our cow elk hunt start's this coming Friday. Have a feeling it'll be tag soup for me again.
Getting old just plain out and out sucks. [Confused]

18 degrees? I was in Huntington Beach Friday and everybody was bitching because it was 94*. And, today, I don't know? I guess it must be mid 80's right now? Here. Eighteen degrees seems weird, but if you say so?

Been snowing here all morning and early afternoon. Supposed to get down to low of 5 degrees and a high of 29 degrees Tuesday. Seems a little early to be this cold...Hope it’s not a sign for things to come. Not looking forward to a long cold winter....

It must be localized? I saw no shit on the sidewalks in Huntington Beach, nor have I seen anything but an occasional mess left by an inconsiderate dog owner, in the City of Upland.

Along that line of reasoning, and attending Obedience Class with Tillie; I have learned a well dressed dog walker needs a cleanup kit and a small bag of treats.

It's OK; We're not perfect over here. I did see a pile of horse apples in the middle of a dirt road in Safford one time .............. or was it Ash Fork ??? I get confused sometimes.

Speaking of horses.......... There's a couple of Hispanics that ride by my place now & then doing drills with their horses. Forward, backward, tight turns, trotting in a circle...... that type of thing. Totally cool to watch. Around these parts, the phrase "He rides like a Mexican" is not a slur but rather a term of respect.

The coming winter rains should wash all the shit off of the sidewalks ........... but if they ever get that fire along the 405 put out the rain will likely wash that freeway out to Malibu. Might have to raise the gas tax in Calif. another buck a gallon or rebuild the 405 as a toll road.

Wind's blowing out of the west ....... I think I smell smoke.

Paul, you are right, I can't dispute anything you wrote, including the part about all my stuff holding me back. Right now I have another consideration. I spent Wednesday night in the Kaiser hospital in Ontario and Kaiser isn't in Arizona. My brother in law was driving up here to the Fontana facility for years, after he moved to Sedona. It's something to think about, although it seems like for serious health care in AZ, the only game in town is in Phoenix? So, I have begun thinking that these people here have my records and history, and changing horses in midstream is not impossible, but ....well, you know? Especially, you should know but ko ko is healthy as a horse and his time will come.

But, if I can swing another property in AZ and still maintain my residency, it might be feasible? ko ko offered to go halves, so maybe? [Roll Eyes] [Roll Eyes]

Yeah, they're asking quite a bit but for as long as it's been on the market I'm guessing that they might be open to a more reasonable offer.

Also ...........
I stand corrected; It's not on a dirt road. I took a dirt road on my bicycle to get to it just now.
That bicycle is one of the reasons I'm still healthy.

As a matter of fact I have a Hermia surgery scheduled for next Tuesday. I wont go to Flagstaff its all fucked up as most college towns to say nothing of the lousy street system. Cant take the environment in those places homeless looking kids with purple or blue hair sitting on the sidewalks with their homeless dogs. Why do homeless people always chose to make a dog homeless as well.

Cheap advice on your recovery. (I've had two) The sooner you go back to standing up straight, the more better it will go. Kind of a pain at first but it passes pretty quick.

The "offer" I could afford would be insulting. But, I can dig it, just what I have been looking for, except the price is too steep; for a second home. Did I mention, I'm on a fixed income, and it's very modest?

Now, if I brought ko ko along, in the role of Luca Braze, and made the man an offer he couldn't refuse, the property tax would still have me eating peanut butter sandwiches for dinner, for the foreseeable future.

But, I do love it!

Since it only got up into the low 70s this afternoon, my long suffering wife & I went up into some big rock formations near town. Took the metal detector along and found a really old prospector's pick head. It wasn't the loot from the Wham Robbery that I was hoping for but I still think that it's totally cool. Thing could be a hundred years old for all I know. Wish that it could talk.

edit:
As far as the big "plan". Yes, getting the hell out of the Land of the Fruits and the Nutts is the untimate objective. But, I sorta figured to do it gradually, moving stuff a little at a time from the old homestead to the new one. That way I could do a little fixing, and preparing to put this house on the market and transporting some stuff, as much as I can handle, since it's just me and I don't want to mess with a huge container. But, hell yes! eventually kiss Commiefornia good bye permantly! I don't know? It has been a pretty good investment over the years. I'd hate to tell you what I paid for this place 45 years ago, and what it's worth now a days!

I still have my copy, of my original social security card. I've been carrying it in my wallet since I was 17. It was issued in two pieces and the top one I lost a long time ago , like 50 years ago, don't remember? But, also I don't actually remember ever having to produce it for any purpose, at all? So, why am I lugging it around for the last 60 years, I don't know?

One thing for sure, "they know who I am and where to find me. And, you know who is very concerned that I pay my taxes on time? Not the Feds, it's the state of California. You know, an extension is pretty automatic on your income tax filing, but it's California that squawks first, if I miss a deadline. Oh yeah, and miss mailing my property taxes by midnight on December 10 and April 10 and get hammered 10% penalty. Somebody has to pay to hose down the streets in Pelosi's district!

Thanks, but another strange thing is that I can't stand hot water. You know people get in a hot tub and luxuriate. It smothers me, I'm out sitting on the edge with maybe my feet in the water. I do not take even a moderately hot shower, I mean, I can't breathe if it's above about 101 degrees, pure torture in a steam bath, can't stand a sauna!

Now, a hot pad just might be an idea! I've got a good one, seen little use, at least by me, but I might try it after my appointment this morning. Had one yesterday, too. Got several scheduled from now through December. Some Dr I don't even know has issued orders, I'm supposed to collect a 24 hour urine sample, kept in the refrigerator, no less? Well, maybe we will learn something from all this bs test shit?

I have some patches that I can stick on my hip, come to think of it, might do that too!

Paul;
Been there / done that advice; Goals to attain one at a time ........... over the next few days.
(1) Stand up straight.
(2) Walk short distances with slow long-ish strides. Short distance being from the couch to the kitchen. Maintain posture.
(3) Go up / down a couple of steps. (Might want to have somebody there with you, just in case.) Posture & balance.
(4) Shake your empty bourbon glass while loudly singing the touching love song "Put Another Log on the Fire".

Posted by Paul Melching (Member # 885) on November 08, 2019, 03:44 AM:

Put another log on the fire.
Cook me up some bacon and some beans.
And go out to the car and change the tyre.
Wash my socks and sew my old blue jeans.
Come on, baby, you can fill my pipe,
And then go fetch my slippers.
And boil me up another pot of tea.
Then put another log on the fire, babe,
And come and tell me why you're leaving me.

I have never heard that song? Of course, I never listen to the radio anyway, and when I did, occasionally, it was one of those retro oldies stations. And, I never listened to talk radio on my morning commute, except for a while when Tammy Bruce was on KFI real early. I gave Nancy's stereo to Judy, an old girlfriend, I just don't pay much attention to radio.

But, since I bought this Infiniti, Serous, or whatever it's called, subscription radio has been bugging the hell out of me to sign up for their service, offering me 3 months free, then another 3 months free and I never turned it on, so why pay for it?

Anyway, I'm even less familiar with anything "Country" on radio. But, I get the joke. I guess, if I had to listen to anything, and couldn't find an oldie station, country would be preferable to jungle music; Rap, or whatever they call it? For me, that stuff is unintelligible. How anybody could make a fortune performing that shit, is beyond me? Now, they have white people listening to it, I hear it throbbing, stopped at signal sometimes. If that bullshit takes over, this civilization is doomed, I'd just as soon listen to a preacher.

I did used to listen to Art Bell in the middle of the night. The other guy that took over his show was focused on some issue, and beat it to death.

But, damn! Paul knows all the lyrics? That's awesome! Just as awesome is that the rest know what the hell he's talking about.

excuse the rambling.

Good hunting. El Bee

edit: I have this location that seems to be smack dab in the middle of my buttcheeks, that I have been thinking is my sciatic nerve, but this pain is a little bit higher and inboard. But, it's the same kind of shooting pain, doesn't feel good, at all!

Hey, yeah. Yesterday, at my doctor appointment, his nurse, you know, when they check your vitals and grill you before the doctor comes in the room. Anyway, she stood against the wall and demonstrated a maneuver where she raised her leg and crossed it over while bending, and since I'm a dirty old man and she a very cute dirty blonde, it was kind of erotic, to watch, if you know what I mean? She even said it could be done in bed, but I didn't go there! She's cute, (did I mention that) and has a great personality, with a scratchy voice. Anyway, it was interesting, and unexpected. BTW, my girlfriend dumped me, and I didn't even ask her to throw another log on the fire. Maybe she got tired of the drive? My lasting image of her was that reverse cowgirl. You can learn a lot about a female by the way they do it. Then, she text'ed me the next day so that was probably a good bye gesture, and totally unsolicited. Nurse Goodheart would be great, too. Don't know why I thought of it, but I ain't dead yet!

Good hunting. El Bee

edit: that's a good suggestion, Dave. Too many people are talking about that stuff for it not to be effective.

El Bee;
Just go to Google.
Type in any song title, lyrics or artist name.
Put another log on the fire will bring Tompaul Glaser right up.
Then ..... on the right side of the screen are more somewhat similar options for other songs.
It can be addictive & you can listen to music you haven't heard in decades.

BTW; Rap is NOT music ...... Rap is noise. [Razz]

Since you're obviously suffering from a broken heart, try typing in;
Bobby Bare Marie Laveau. [Big Grin]

And if you scroll down the side-bar, Big Bad Don is worth a listen [Smile] [Smile]

I think I've seen that one!

If he loses, I'm moving to Vancouver, the one in Canada.
(the Land of the Midnight Sun) Which reminds me; have you ever seen the Aurora Borealis? That shit is amazing!

Should the unthinkable happen it is likely that about the time Calif. goes bankrupt they will pass laws to prevent you from taking American money out of the country. This on top of taxes equal to income, property values tanking & you WILL turn in all of those dangerous guns.

All for the common good, of course. [Frown]
