So rise and shine and start talking!
Been a tough spring somewhat.
Cousin's mother passed away a week ago.
Close friend was diagnosed with cancer, he had his first chemo treatment this past Tuesday.
Had a MRi done on my left knee finally. Have a big lateral meniscus tear and major arthritis in the knee. Waiting for the surgeon to call to set up a appointment.
Lost some much needed paper work. Living in 2 different places is starting to get very old. I've turned the new place over several times and can't find it so back to the other place to start hunting.
Still have enough snow in the road at the lookout to keep me from hauling water in. I can drive my Toyota in but not a 1-ton dually.
Maybe the week after next.
Tried an experiment and lost 5 tomato plants already. It might have worked if we hadn't went into a cold period and would have been here at the new place.
Planted thornless blackberries and strawberries yesterday. Suppose to be warming up this week. Sure hope so. Would like to see some rain up here to maybe help with the seeds I sowed out in the pasture(future pasture that is).
Just waiting to get into the summer schedule for the lookout. I hate being in the office with nothing to do but stare at the clock. I've been going to the lookout and picking up trash and cutting back brush and so forth just for something to do and not be in the office. Now with the heat up won't be doing much going off the road. The rattlesnakes will be coming out big time especially on the lower part of the road.
Ticks have been bad. Dog has been getting a lot of them when out in the hay fields. Now that the other half is done gopher trapping for a while (waiting on the ranch to cut hay now). Dog might not have as many ticks on him. We do give him a pill once a month to kill ticks and fleas but still don't like them dang things.
That light at the end of the tunnel is very bright now so bright it's going to be a long summer before I can pull the plug.

Sounds like you're in the fire a bit, EW. Sorry to hear about your aunt (?). ANd, your friend's cancer. If there's a good thing about being diagnosed with cancer, it is that there is no better place or time than right now, and right here in America because of the advances in cancer therapies. Hoping things go well for them.

As to the knee, I feel your pain. Literally. Having had four (or five, I lost count) torn menisci already, and just as many surgeries, I'm staring down the barrel of another on my right knee. After a couple, you don't need no stinkin' MRI to know that it's quacking and walking like a duck. Worst part of it is that the wife is first up with shoulder surgery in the next couple weeks first. Same surgeon. Same surgical center. Get her all fixed up and healed enough so she can drive me back and forth for mine. LOL I worry less and less about knee surgeries and more about being under anesthesia again. The surgeries and recoveries themselves are a cake walk. Hurts worse to have my teeth cleaned. Remember a time when I had never had surgery. Now, it's an annual respite from my routine. Four or five knees and a gallbladder removal. A year after my GB surgery, the surgeon who did that had just finished the Boston Marathon when those bombs went off. Ended up treating victims on the street. My daughter's doctor had just landed in the Paris Int'l Airport as the nightclub terrorist attack happened. Said there was total chaos. I'm starting to wonder about this three degrees of separation shit.

Hope things start looking a bit brighter for you and soon.

I used to have some gorgeous Iris's. eventually, the bulbs started growing sideways, all distorted and I didn't know what to do. They just wouldn't listen so I dug them all up and shit canned them! Now, I have well behaved ground cover where they used to be. Nothing lasts forever.

Leonard iris must be divided just split those tubers off and replant them , best done shortly after bloom or if you have no room and nobody wants them just toss them they bloom better when not over grown. I grow them here because nothing eats them !
LOL.

Yes. I had a iris jungle going on and like I said, they would sprout sideways and I just didn't know what to do with them. Wasn't my idea in the first place, my wife LOVED iris's, so I did it to make her happy. And, I must say, we had some beauties. What are they called, bearded? Had one that was kind of a chocolate color, could of done without that one. No doubt, when they are blooming, they are impressive. I think some people dig them up and store them during winter?

But, that's just like my Hibred Tea Roses. I had 21 All Americans. My tradition was to prune every New Years day before the Rose Bowl Game. They acquire a lot of litter that needs to be cleaned up, constant fertilizer, needs to be watered etc etc. So, after more than twenty years I dug them up and planted CACTUS! Way less hassle.

For me, it's peonies. My mom's favorite flower was the pink peony. By luck, every house I've ever lived in has had at least one bush. Our current home has about twenty of them along the outer garage wall. Mom would have been 78 on May 1 and they usually bloom a few days before that and look like shit by her b-day. This year, they are stuck in this holding pattern with about half a bud and doing nothing. Every day has been about ten degrees below normal. Nights still in the 40's.

My recent fun has been with daylilies. I got lotsa them. Last year, I had 38 different kinds of flowers in the backyard. This year, I've scaled back in variety and planted more area. Just got done replacing a couple failed clematises. Big beds of purple coneflowers, butterfly milkweed, yarrow, coreopsis, crepe myrtle, lilac spirea, four o'clocks, toothache flowers, peppermint, spearmint (chocolate and citrus), petunias, coleus. three different kinds of phlox, roses, black-eyed susans. Lots of birds and bees in my yards these days.

With me, it’s many different types of cacti. A few are at least 20 ft tall. My other passion is plumeria. I have a lot, except for one, all in large containers. They remind me of the islands and I go there when I can, otherwise, the trees give me comfort.
My problem here lately, nobody to go with.

Already had the right knee and hip replaced. Now the left knee. Need a new right shoulder but to chicken for that. On the pain scale the shoulder is number one then knee then hip.
Not to much into flowers they take a lot of work.

To clarify; Paul, are you suggesting there is something about this site that prevents you from posting photos? Or your lack of expertise? It seems to me, if you can post pictures anywhere, you can post them here.

You got that right. Practically a National Treasure. We keep telling him to do it, but I think he's not quite motivated.

Whatever, Dave. Just post 'em here. That's good enough.

It's not potable haul in drinking water.
Taking today and tomorrow off going to visit friends in MT Friday and Saturday. Going to try to get back from eastern MT to Challis then back to Boise for work all Sunday might not make it for work on Monday morning. A lot of driving and not use to it anymore.
