In the interest of this not turning into the geezer board . I went calling for a couple of hours the other day Saw coyote scat everywhere
Only did four stands no coyotes but nine or ten fox And one bobcat , did not shoot anything , not worth skinning yet. One coyote crossed the road on my way back
he was in sixth gear. Ill get more serious as the fur primes.

Fur has been full prime and as good as it's gonna get for a couple weeks here. I haven't been able to get out lately though. Might be another week or two before I'll have time again.

My buddy Chad shot a decent 5x5 bull on our elk hunt. I didn't see a bull big enough to shoot, so been sippin' tag soup & it tastes like shit...

Got up to the farm & quickly avenged myself on the 1st evening stand. Had a big male come steamrollin' in just @ dusk & smoked it with the .17Predator:
 -

Made a night stand with my tripod LED torch gizmo, and a gorgrous grey fox obliged:
 -

Still, got a hankerin' for some thermal shit to try! Had at least one coyote appear to "spook" soon as the red LED hit his eyeballs. That pissed me right the fuck off!
FLIR's new PTS233 looks interesting, but has been slow to market. Pulsar has a proven unit that's a couple hundred cheaper that'd work well, either as a scanner or gun mounted scope. Just sittin' on my hands awhile pondering a buy...

Bucks are just startin' to feel their oats here. Watched a 1.5yr old and 2.5yr old 8pt sparrin' a bit on Saturday evening, so they're not quite in kick-azz mode...yet.

edit: to re-size pics

I went to Wyo. this past weekend and hunted two 1/2 days with a group of guys. We killed 71. Skinned a few and found some blue on a few still. BUT, this coming weekend, if the wind don't blow, I'm going to get after em hard on my home turf.

I'm counting the days. Still over a month away till I'm back in coyote country. I'm sure the cream will have been skimmed off all my areas, but will feel good to be back in the desert and out hunting again.
You old fucks keep at it, and post a few pics to keep those of us not yet able to get out, entertained!

Something I have always noticed, is a coyote will not tolerate a laser anywhere, not just in the eyes. Not noticed the same reaction with cats and fox?

Kinda surprising, what the fur condition is in Wyoming, right now? Then DAA says they are prime in (ahem) Utah? That's another thing. From blue to prime is such a short window and I don't recall a situation where some were good and some were not? They are either good, or not.

But, we are a month+ past prime in northern Nevada, if this Geezer recalls, accurately? I always regarded Wyoming as a cold place, but I never hunted anything but the western part. The wind, as everybody knows, that's the problem! Not only does it move impact point uncertainty, but your sound doesn't get out there where you need it.

Congratulations to those that persevere. I'm with you in spirit. Oh, and I'm gone a week now without the girdle. That has rewards and penalties.

Good hunting. El Bee

Guess I am beginning to resemble the geezer comment! Wow, TR…71 coyotes in less than 3 days of hunting, that is spectacular!

That is a good looking, coyote, Fred!

I hope to be released by my back doctor by Thanksgiving…after that, I am not sure how much I can be in field this year. I may have to forgo the calling season to heal up properly.

Right now, my wife is working full time, doing all of the housework, doing all of the yardwork, and puts my shoes and socks on every morning!

I also have 3 buddies that indicated they will gut, skin and cut up my deer this year…all I have to do is pull the trigger…sounds like I am one of luckiest guys alive, but let me tell you, I sure wish I could do it myself!!

Doing some whacking and stacking myself with coyotes, hopefully will get to do some cat calling here pretty soon.
Been coyote hunting all summer, then shot a small buck during bow season in August, ol recurve zipped an arrow straight on thru em, long story, but lets just say a landowner ended up with the deer. Im still bitter. Didnt even go rifle hunting when it opened after that. Went straight back to coyote hunting.

I'm trying to remember the last deer I killed and where it was? I think Utah? And I think it must have been over five years ago? Yeah, overrated. Of course, I haven't killed a really big buck in quite a while, that can be kinda a big deal.

Good hunting. El Bee

Land owners. I still recall the time in Colorado when I slid into a ditch on a curve, couldn't control the truck worth a shit and I'm usually a pretty good driver in those conditions.

Anyway, while we were struggling, these four guys came by and shortened our predicament by a lot since they had two vehicles and 2 winches and helped keeping the back end from getting worse than it already was.

So, we thanked them. They had Colorado plates and offered advice that maybe we shouldn't be out in these conditions. Had to bite my tongue. I've got more time in grade driving that type of conditions than the next guy, that's for sure.

So, they asked. And we told them we saw a real nice buck the day before and they were very interested so we got out the Forest Service maps, maybe they were USGS? But, we indicated the exact spot where we saw that buck and specified that there were white areas where he was headed which were private land.

WE went other places that morning and the weather stayed snowy and poor visibility for several hours, at least 4, maybe longer when we wound up on the road where we told those guys about the big buck. And right there, exactly the same spot was a big party going on. These two vehicles plus the land owner on the left side, (bottom land) and the local sheriff. Oh, and they had three dead deer.

We asked what was going on and one of the guys admitted that they hunted that guys property on the left side where we specifically told them that it was private land.

Anyway, the land owner got the deer and the hunters were all written up for a trespassing fine, I think they said it was something like 200/300 dollars?

And they were giving us advice. I usually watch my p's and q's very carefully, always mindful of the fact that a California plate is a big negative just about anywhere we go.

end of rant-

Went on my annual deer, bear & turkey hunt with the recurve this last Aug. in the Wallow Fire burn area. The vegetation is recovering nicely. Lots of green stuff for the herbivores to herbivate on.
Sadly, deer numbers are down. Way down.
Wolves, on the other hand, we have.
Fat happy wolves. [Mad]

Doing some scouting and poking around for coyotes.
A couple of more weeks and the fur should be sale-able.

Mine just happened to die on private, as it went for a little ways and jumped a small fence, onto it. I did not realize how close I was to it because of the crazy terrain that I backpacked into to get to the area, and stayed for a couple nights, because these fucking people like to cut off convenient access.
You cant recover game on private without permission...long story short..again (cause it pains me to re hash the event in my mind) came back with a authority and deer was gone and sort of end of story.
Edit: I should have been paying attention to my OnX map on my gps.

And just to commiserate with Mark...

Second biggest buck I have ever killed, same story. Shot him with my bow, he made it just far enough to die on private ground with no chance of permission for recovery.

Could have and should have just waited for dark and gone over the fucking fence and collected my fucking deer. Stupid me went down and asked permission though.

First and LAST time I EVER ask permission to do a single fucking thing to do with hunting.

Want to talk over rated? Private Land. I sure don't need it. Kill more coyotes than just about anyone else I know around here and do it all on 100% public ground and during the day without losing any sleep.

Well, I haven't endured the trials and tribulations of being a land owner in decent hunting areas, BUT.

I would call the cops, in a situation like I described, where those guys knew exactly what they were doing and knew they were trespassing on private property.

As far as what Mark and Dave told us about; those land owner folks were just being total DICKS! A deer runs off and dies on private property, and if it was my property and these honest gentlemen asked permission, I would grant it and help them, while I'm at it. But... I'm not a prick, so that explains my attitude. On the other hand, I have not dealt with trespassers and poachers so they have a valid point of view. But, an intelligent land owner should be able to tell the difference.

Good hunting. El Bee

In the Great state of Arizona you may trespass hunt and trap on private property unless it is posted at each corner and every quarter mile the signs must state no hunting trapping etc., and list the statute numbers at the bottom of the sign.
If not on public land footholds are legal and cage traps are not necessary. Did I mention I love this state. using ON x Hunt app on my phone it gives you the info for where you are and the land owners name so you know if you are on public or private property.

Holey shit guys...21 & 71 coyotes in a few days time? Incredible!!!
I hear ya bout big game. Even fresh off a cool elk hunt, there's no compare to calling a coyote! Man it was all I could do not to shoot the few coyotes I happened across while elk hunting...

We did glass a nice 6x6 down low while scouting, but that small herd was within a click of private on 3 sides. Just didn't seem worth the potential hassle or having one run of & tip over on private. Oh well...

As an aside, my buds had a lion encounter on our last day! Turned into a 30 minute stare down @ 50-60 yds...the lion was in no rush to leave!!! Sorta reminded me of Dave's crazy story, but not quite to that level of butt puckerin'. Needless to say, both got a real thrill out of seeing a big cat in the wild!!!

The last deer I killed was a 4 point, western count, whitetail up in North Central Washington. My then girlfriend asked me to shoot it for her. She had a license and tags. About 20 minutes before killing that deer I filled my own tag with a big 5 point Whitetail.

I don't think deer are over rated mostly because I like good venison. Back when I hunted deer I never spent more than a couple of days at it. Fortunately I lived in places where I didn't have to.

In SE Alaska we were issued 4 deer tags and filling them was as easy as either flying or boating out from Juneau and watching the beach after the first snowfall. The deer run down to the beach and they're an easy mark since they have never seen a human before. You just shoot them.

When I lived in SoCal the deer I shot were usually while hunting coyotes. We'd see where the deer were feeding at night then return in the morning and hunt the nearby brush.

My biggest deer was killed near Hemet, CA. A big 6 point that came in on a morning daytime stand. A Mule Deer.

But I like hunting waterfowl and upland birds, too.

A couple years ago, in eastern Arizona, I called in four mule deer, one spike. I was about ten feet this side of the barbwire and they came right up to the fence, a little to my right side because thats where the caller was. But, they came in fast and deliberate, the first sight I had when they came over the rise was a blocky gray color and was thinking lion for just a minute.

Hey Paul;
Long long ago in a far-away land called Neva-Da I was driving thru the very posted Bottle Creek Ranch. (El Bee's probably been thru there, too)
Saw a coyote mousing out in a pasture and since I was pretty new to calling & the truck was mostly behind some brush I thought I'd blow the Crit-r Call just to see what would happen.
A couple of blasts and the coyote started towards me.
A couple of more blasts and a herd of antelope does showed up, spotted the coyote and ran an intercept course with fire in their eyes.
Coyote adjusted direction and almost ran into 6 mulie does coming in from another direction just as hot as the antelope.
The poor coyote didn't know whether to shit or go blind but it sure knew that it wanted to go somewhere. It may still be running to this day.
Finally noticed that the rancher had pulled up behind me to remind me that it was private property. We had a good laugh over the abused coyote and went our separate ways.
I don't remember if I killed anything on that trip or not but I'll remember that coyote with the antelope to the left and the mulies to the right for a long time.

Vic,
I'm sure there will be plenty left for you. Lots of coyotes this year.
Made a stand behind the house the other night and called in three different coyotes. Let the young dog work them till they finally lost interest. She had a blast and did good. Didn't shoot any of them. She brought the one back to around 70 yards. Just fun watching. Trapping starts this weekend so wont be shooting any for a while.

One of my deer and coyote stories...

This was last winter. Me and Tim, cold rolling, walk in, setup not my favorite kind but doable. We're on the shoulder of a big steep ridge, 100 yards to the bottom, another big steep ridge rising up from there, about 200 yards straight across to it on the other side.

I put the caller 50 yards down hill from us.

Pretty late in the stand, nothing happening, losing interest. I start playing some different howls on the FoxPro, just because.

Spot six or seven mule deer doe coming from a long ways up the draw, running across a cheat grass opening in a ragged skirmish line.

They get up to the caller and I start playing fawn distress. They stomp and blow and mill around. Start to leave, when they get across to the other side hill, I howl again, they stop, turn and start coming back. Fawn distress brings them all the way back again.

We play grab ass like this for several minutes, they start to leave and come back a couple of times. Third time I have them starting back, they are stotting downhill on the other side coming back to the call all stiff legged back and before getting to the bottom they suddenly make a hard left turn and pick up speed.

I look, and I'll be go to hell if there isn't a coyote running away out in front of them that they are chasing. Been on the stand like 25 minutes now.

Tim made a circus shot and tumbled that coyote on a dead run at about 270 yards.

The deer acted like they didn't hear the shot. Went over and sniffed around and stomped and blew some more around the dead coyote.

Good fun!

With the the landscaping season now finished I'm now in full blown coyote/snow removal business! Gunning for 100 this season. Going to be tough though, 7 killed so far but have only hunted a couple times. Also need to meet up and have a beer or two with the bearhunter, haven't forgotten just been crazy busy.

Pickup up a new pack the other day, Eberlestock gunnrunner. I think it's gonna be slick for my style of hunting..walking my ass off! Hope everyone has a great season and posts up a few pictures and stories here and there. I'll do my best to do the same.

Walking after coyotes is a job! It's productive but shoot the coyote, drag the coyote is tough, unless it's skin the coyote, (on the ground, yet) and stuff him in your backpack. Anyway, sounds like you have it figured out, so good luck, and say hi to bear hunter.

Good hunting. El Bee

edit: I say that; on the ground because I have heard the old joke that the "state tree" in North Dakota is the telephone pole; to hang a gambrels.

I figured that Brent, I saw lots of sign and heard lots of coyotes while down dove hunting in Sept. Just figured the out of towners that frequent would be hitting it hard by the time I get there.
Don't forget, we have our local "wildlife specialist" that sneaks into the area to wreak havoc. I'll see you in December!

Took the 10 year old out Saturday. It was the opener of the pheasant hunt and he prefers shooting my #3 in 223 to the old single shot 20 so we went after coyotes. First stand I was giving things a last good look before shutting it down. A coyote came around a little rise and came to a stop 25 yards in front of Bridger about 10 degrees off the end of his barrel. He didn't see it until it had already turned tail, not a shot was fired. He denies drawing pictures in the dirt with a stick but admits he was daydreaming.

That's funny, Bryan!

I remember hunting with Jimzy, and got caught daydreaming on a midday stand. Had a "1,000 yard stare" focused up on a distant rock cliff...thinking it looked like a good place for a lion to chill. All the while, a coyote had eased in under me & stood there broadside @ 150yds...OOPS!

As for back home, my buddy killed the big buck I had on trail cam...glad one of us got him! Another cool thing was,I saw a friggin' WHITE coyote!!! I'd already seen a 'creamsicle' orange/white one last month, but this one looked pure white. Almost got an arrow in it, too...I lip squeeked in close but it caught a whiff & split. Got a good look at it...a big azz wolfy WHITE coyote. It was stalking deer in the rain & blew 3 does right past me before I saw it...

Something wonky going on with seeing two white-ish coyotes on our farm, but I'm glad they're around!

Don't take my word for it though, imma call that fucker in, and shoot it fair & square! Kinda feel like Capt. Ahab right now...LOL

I've only seen one, ever. Up by the Amaragorso, southern Nevada. One of those deals where they kind of flare in at an angle and basically, never slow down. By the time I realized he wasn't stopping he was in scattered brush and no way to get a shot at him. I say white, but not pure white, like a white poodle. More like blonde.

There was a guy that worked in a gunshop, in Downey. I noticed a white pelt hanging on the wall behind the counter and he told me where he got it, up in Boron, behind the prison.

Other than that, during a lifetime of hunting coyotes, that's it.

Nope.
I posted this one here a few years ago. He was pure white, fur was dirty and muddy as he was romping thru a dairy pen full of cows and ran across the road when I "harvested" him. I was on my way to a meeting at work and was late so I didnt throw him in the truck. Came back by couple hours later and he was gone, footprints where someone had walked up and snagged him.

He had regular colored eyes, etc. no albino look to him really.

Vic,
Yes they will be here for two weeks I think. I did a little calling and called 7 in 3 stands. Looks like it could be a good number year for sure. Come over to the house once your back. Will be in Mexico doing some control work. I will be back by Dec. 1 should have a good story or two from this trip.

Man, that's hard core, Dave! Thanks for the pics. I am looking at the terrain and I don't quite recognize it? But, I think I know where it must be?

Brent, wow you must have some stories to tell. I got scared of Mexico more than ten years ago. Besides inspections by the Army and permits and renewing it every three months, and the potential for danger. Also, they started insisting on meeting and taking a "guide" along, which just got in the way. How are you dealing with all of that? But, it was always amazing how dumb Mexican coyotes are. But we were mostly below Lukeville and Sasabe and Baja; not way over on your side. I really worried about running into the drug cartel and at night, we would always run into Army roadblocks and that got nervous. Bottom line, tempting but dangerous.

Good hunting. El Bee

edit: another thing, they started a regulation, could only bring back two animals. That's what really killed it for us.

Brent, you have put the situation as well as I ever could, and you are fortunate that you have somebody doing the paperwork for you. But, not only are the Mexicans a stickler for regulations, they don't seem to know what the hell they are doing, BUT they are very sure about it, and it used to drive me batty!

Just remember, as soon as you cross that border, you have zero rights and they are certain to remind you of it at every opportunity. How a guy like Tim can live in that country, I will never know.

I have an old school chum that lives down in Baja since he retired. He thinks it's great and I keep telling him that Mexico can take everything he owns. They can, and they have.

We were down there one time with a Mexican man that worked with my partner. I believe he was a US citizen but had lived many years and was born there. He happened to see a cartridge in the back of the truck and became very concerned until we tossed it. This particular time, we had no guns and no permits. If he was worried, with his command of the language and his status, then venturing without him, we felt naked.

The things we used to do in that little shit town of Zaragoza when I was in the Army, scares me to think about, today! One time we even unlocked the jail and let a friend out because the cop was tied up somewhere else. I mean, they might even shoot you and throw some dirt over ya, and shrug. I admit it, I'm psyched out.

There is a big market/grocery store down in Cabo, probably several? But we needed to get coolers to bring back frozen fish. You know, even the cheapest styrofoam 30? quart containers, not sturdy for travel were $40! Something you would expect to pay maybe two dollars for, in the states. And Taxi's? They have higher rates than New York City! It's a Gyp Joint. Ok end of rant!

Good hunting. El Bee

PS it reminds me of those UCLA basketball players arrested for shoplifting in China. Some of these foreign countries, you have to be a moron to break the law! Like North Korea; you steal a poster and they beat you senseless and send you home to die! Mexico ain't far behind!

Fuk Mexico Ill hunt up here and not too close to the border either time was I'd shoot one here and retrieve it on the other side never again ! Good fortune and be safe Brent . oh yeah and trust no one !

Paul, I've hunted that road down to Rocky Point at night, many times, But mostly around a little place called Doctor and over closer to the gulf, in the swamps. I think they mostly hunt birds, not rabbits. I swear, those coyotes are so stupid, they walk right up to the truck and look up at ya. Pretty safe place to be, too. Imagine holding a shotgun over the side and pointing it straight down. Those were the days, but I won't be back.

Mexico scares the crap outta me. When our nephew was in the seminary before he was ordained a Catholic Priest, he was sent to Southern Mexico to be ‘immersed’ with a family so he could learn Spanish.

After this 3 or 4 month period, 3 of the priests from their seminary went through Mexico picking up the seminarians in a 15 passenger van for the trek back to Chicago. As they were on the trip back, they were going through Mexico City and got stopped by ‘police’. These were guys in rent a cop uniforms with very real guns.

They made all of the priests and seminarians get out of the van and basically shook them down for all of their cash, watches, and anything else of value. When they were done, one of the guys rode with them to the outskirts of Mexico City so they wouldn’t get rolled again.

Any country that allows that kind of open graft and corruption isn’t any place I want to stay long.

My nephew said the ironic part of the whole ordeal, was that when he realized he wasn’t going to die, he happened to look at the license plate on one of the cars owned by the ‘cops’…he said it happened to be a Kansas tag!

Yes, a shit hole...and you know, whitey stole California and other western states from Mexico, so, they are slowly taking it back according to them...by increasing the mex population here. Yes, when you breed like rats, its a simple numbers game, of course you will. Then, it can be a shit hole here to.

Who in their right mind would want to go to a third world shithole like Mexico anyways? Even if the hunting was or is good. Don't drink the water and don't eat the food whitey. You are not welcome there.

Yeah, those license plates. There is a big junk yard in Ajo where people that try to enter the US via Lukeville. Apparently they think that driving into Mexico from El Paso or Brownsville means that they can sneak back out, way over in Lukeville. Of course, some that the Federales want, they keep, especially 4 wheel drive and Suburbans.

But anyway, this guy with the junk yard he gets almost all of those vehicles that are seized at the border. We had to buy a Ford truck from him one time and since it was a sunday, there was no Western Union but we paid for that truck with nine guns!
True story!

Actually, my partner drove down there with a trailer to pick up his hunting truck and paid for the Ford and got all our guns back. If you are looking for a decent deal on a late model vehicle at a good price, he's got them.(the junk yard) The dead giveaway as to where that vehicle has been is to pop the hood and notice the Mexican battery. But he will tell you, no secret. The insurance company doesn't really want the cars back anyway so that's who he buys them from and he's usually the only bidder. And, he has a selection of 30/40 decent vehicles at any time, ready to go. Pat used that Ford in his business for a long time, it was only one or two years old when we got it.

Good hunting. El Bee

edit: oh, and that was the best use of AAA roadside assistance ever! because this junk yard was the closest nearest facility, 168 miles from our place of breakdown.

edit: you are right, Walt. This is why you learn to brush your teeth with beer. Oh, and they refill the Sparklets bottles, don't be fooled!

Do you guys know the only way to get to Sonora from Baja? Unless you swim, there is a railroad trestle that crosses the Colorado River, in Mexico. It's one way, and you go bumpily bump across the ties, open air down to the river about 30 feet down.

It's a little informal, you have to wait your turn, coming or going. It's crazy and dangerous but it's the only way to get to the closest town in Sonora, the name of which is called, "kilometer 57" that's no shit, the actual name, not a single paved street or sidewalk in town.

If you look to the side, as you cross, you will see a small guard shack off to the side, on both sides and you can see what remains of the vehicle bridge that washed out 25 years ago but has never been rebuilt. The reason is because there used to be a toll for the bridge but the railroad trestle is free, and the Mexicans are ok with that. Go figure.

NVWALT, never been accused of being in my right mind, and if you haven't figured it out no one get out of this game alive. It just is. These folks have enough invested in this project to want to keep me alive. Its on going and continues to get better for both of us. I'll be leaving in about a week and back in December.

While things aren't as nice as in the US this ranch has better accommodations than I live in. So over all its not bad. Good food and clean water. The difference between being on a good ranch and staying in town. The people have been friendly so far I can't complain. But as I mentioned something always seems to go south, it just depends on how you handle it for how the rest of your stay is. Take it in stride and realize were your at and keep plugging along or start winning and acting like a bitch cause shit isn't going your way. Its just as easy to shake your head, laugh and keep killing shit. Its what I'm there for.

Hey, in spite of my reservations and the fact that my passport has expired, if you needed a helper, I bet that would be a hell of a learning experience! In a way, I envy you, Brent.

Apparently, your employers have enough juice to keep the cartels off the property? But, truthfully, I used to be just as concerned of the Federales. WE would pass things like power relay stations, and all sorts of infrastructure and there would be a 16 year old soldier with an M16. I just wondered what kind of restraint these boys had before they pulled the trigger and hosed everybody down?

I stayed at a Club Med resort down in Colima one time. Very nice, a couple of girl Vaqueros on horseback guided us up the trail to the clubhouse. The chatter was that they had been robbed by some banditos recently and never caught. That's Mexico. This part of of the allure, that element of danger! Don't kid yourself, it's there and you have no rights whatsoever. And, the US State Department is a bunch of pussies, and they aren't particularly interested in helping United States citizens.

That fucking Obama and Lurch, his Secretary of State would not help a Marine that wound up in Mexico by mistake and spent a long time in jail because he had a couple weapons. If you have a weapon, don't expect any help from the Obama Administration. Some nice lady congresswoman from Florida got him out of that shithole where he was chained to a bed!

We really should invade Mexico, make it the 51st state and improve the crummy roads and see to it that the water is drinkable. Everybody would be better off except a few thousand extremely wealthy Mexicans that don't give a shit about the masses. The problem is, Mexicans are so complacent, they are okay with being fucked over by the wealthy. If we invaded, they would all be able to go to school and learn to read and write.

The way it is now, Mexicans have an inferiority complex, they pretty much hate Americans, as well as Mexican Americans. It's hopeless. Here they are next door to the wealthiest country in the world, like Canada, and unlike Canada, they are a backward 3rd world country, and there is no excuse for it. Fact is, it's actually a beautiful country. They have every climate you can imagine from desert to tropical jungle, and Monterey is up in the mountains, so you have everything including the cheapest gasoline on the planet. We used to get a case of Cokes in 16 oz glass bottles for a dollar, it's more now but at the time, the gas was twelve cents a gallon. Even today, they fire shots into downtown El Paso from Juarez, across the river. I don't know now, but Juarez used to have a higher population than El Paso?

Mexico, don't even try to figure it out.

I ain't too keen on leaving USA, either. Been blessed to have traveled some, enough to realize there's a whole lotta shit in our country to visit/enjoy/discover/hunt/ etc.

Be safe, Brent!

Heck of a haul again, Dave! Are your TSS loads still performing to your satisfaction?

Just got back from Okieland. Pard & I drew a limited 2 day public land muzzleloader deer tag. Put the Comanche stalk on this sucka & smoked him @ 60yds:
 -

Got to visit with Cat Daddy KJ, do some shootin' out to 1K, drink some beer & generally have a friggin' pisser! And being that we tagged out on deer a day early, we made a couple stands & killed a couple coyotes. Can't go to Okieland without that!!!

Headed up for our home deer opener a day late, to wait on my buddy. More excited to see that white coyote, than a decent deer...

Keep gettn' after 'em!!!

Looks like good eating Fred!

Yup, TSS continues to impress. Used #4 all weekend. Shots were pretty much standard issue. One small young female, broadside at 53 yards, dropped like a rock, found five or six pellets had penetrated clean through. Tiny little 4s. At 50 yards.

Thanks, Fred. Just noticed on the second look, that's a friggin' whitetail! Weird antler.

Dave, the TSS sure looks promising! Total passthroughs with #4 shot at 53 yards? Really, it's hard to believe?

I'd still go a little bigger on diameter rather than pellet count.

After I use up what I have left of the 4s I don't think I'll get any more of them. I do prefer the extra punch of a larger pellet. Would like to try some 3s.

And yeah, it is hard to believe. I haven't and won't post the most amazing/impressive things I have seen so far with TSS, it would just sound like bullshit.

Well, I made it back in one piece! Had a good time, good food and good people. Killed a lot of coyotes, that country is over run and hadn't seen any calling pressure. I was a lot of fun. Plan to go back down in the spring and do a little denning work for them. Good time all around.

Leonard, thanks for the offer, glad I didn't need to take you up on it.

Going to take a dog down next run now that I know the requirements. Pretty simple process.

Hey Brent,
Good to know you were successful and made it back okay. I've been out of the US for extended periods before and I have to say, it feels good to be back. Almost chokes a man up, sometimes.

Mexico is a beautiful country but the people that run the place are evil. You can never trust them, they will go back on their word with a shrug that only a bribe can change. And, law enforcement is the worst, just about all police can be bribed.

A friend of mine witnessed the murder of a policeman down there in San Filipe a long time ago. Cured him! It's like this; if you just want to buy some shit, and risk incarceration for who knows how long, you just might pop a cop? I guess it's a take no prisoners situation? Fucked up but the only solution is to stay out of the country.

You are fortunate Brent. There are other parts of the country where they can, and will feed you to the hogs. Scares me to death! Sorry to sound like a wet blanket. The resorts are still reasonably safe for economic reasons. Out in the sticks, Mexicans are world class in playing dumb!

Good hunting. El Bee
