I opened some mail this morning, (all bills) and one was my statement from Citi Bank. I only have the card because Costco quit associating with American Express a few years ago. I've never done any business with Cit Bank, seems like they are frown back east and new? Hell, I don't know, but I don't use the card for anything but shopping at Costco.

And here's the deal. I open the statement and it says I paid the total last month, but underneath it listed a late charge of $30 plus $5.34 interest!

The bill was due on the 9th and paid on the 10th of November, but because of the weekend, I guess? it wasn't credited until the 13th.

So, I called and talked to the machine. she asked why I am calling and I replied with one word: LATE FEE!

So, like they do, first they go over everything that you already know, because you are looking at the statement, but then they continued by noting the late fee and said they would issue a credit plus reimbursing the $5.43 interest charged, and I had not even had a chance to bitch about it to a human-yet!

So, what could I do? Problem solved. But I thought they caved in. This is a shout out to Citi Bank for rather decent customer service, except for scaring me with that late charge! I don't pay late fees or late charges because I pay on time. I don't know why they got their payment a day late but as long as I don't have to pay it, I don't care.

Pretty good customer service without having to talk to an agent. Don't get that every day.

Good to know that it all worked out.

FWIW; Whenever somebody tries to sign me up for something I usually get the customer service number and call it to ask some lame question about grace periods with the guy sitting there. Tells me a lot when I get the "Your call is very important to us. There will be a 20 minute wait to speak to someone."
Pretty much ends the sales pitch.

WOW!

What a coincidence, ko ko! All the Customer Service numbers I call have that very same recording! So does my health care provider!

A few days ago, I called two Chinese Restaurants and they both jerked me around. The first had me on hold for 6 minutes before I hung up. The second wanted to charge me $20 minimum delivery for a $8.95 item off the Lunch Menu! I wound up with a frozen Stauffer's Mac and Cheese in the microwave.

Another thing in the chewing gum and walking at the same time department. I was ordering off the mailed to the house menu, but this barely english speaker wanted me to go on line and order! I may not patronize either of them ever again!
