Well, as astute readers have learned, I tripped over Tillie and took a pretty nasty spill. So, my daughter, who lives in northern California flew down to help me. Okay, now I've been to the appointments and all that shit and one of the big deal reasons for her being here and had to happen regardless of my accident is to finalize a trust with her as executer and spelling out who gets what, in the event that I do not live forever. That's this afternoon and there actually are a number of considerations but something that Shelley has brought up in the past few days, seeing how difficult it is for me to navigate upstairs and even down around the pool area, and with crutches, in this case. I will have to wear a friggin' backpack because I don't have a free hand.

So, she sees me struggle and suggests ASSISTED LIVING! Looked it up and suggested Tucson Green Valley as a perfect spot and they have Pickleball!

That IS the first thing that popped into my mind! Do they have some sort of firearms policy? And, it's NOT that I have a one track mind, it is that we are surrounded by socialist control freak motherfuckers!

Geeze, I walked out of that consultation about my durable power, and trust and a will and all that shit and MY GOD! the document is impressively bound and three inches thick! It even says who gets my car and who gets Tillie and Pinkie who gets what guns, subject to the laws of the State of Commiefornia!

But, where is good assisted living and who qualifies? Do you have to have a drool and depends or what? I keep thinking Dove Mountain is a place I'd love to spend my senior years, but looks like some of these places are $6600 per month and I think that's like rent, not actually buying property? There's a totally gorgeous property close to Sedona called Seven Canyons that would be very nice. One lady said there is a year waiting list for some places but I don't know?

Really, I have no problem with Sun City, cookie cutter houses with one option, 2 or 3 bedrooms and the ultimate status symbol is a sahuaro in the front yard. Next would be a cluster of Organ Pipe which impresses me more than a sahuaro, at $200 per foot.

First thing is to put this dump on the market! Will it happen? We'll see.

Good hunting. El Bee

They do take birds and dogs up to 50 pounds, but I could put Tillie on a crash diet. Other than that, there are so many activities, like a Bridge Club, bird watching and the Young Democrats and lots of nature trails, and pickleball! 3 meals a day, in the clubhouse or in your room. No public intoxication!

Green Valley looks like a nice place to live. If I was you, I would sell your California home and move into a single story home with desert landscaping front and back. Don't spend all of your money on the home. You will need to modify the new home to ADA standards. Hopefully you can find a home with a large bathroom that you can have modified to ADA standards. You might consider a walk-in bath tub and/or a large shower sans threshold that is big enough to get a wheel chair into. You will need ADA bars next to the toilet. A custom cabinet maker can make shorter cabinets so the counter top can be used from a wheel chair.

I have one concern with Green Valley. You will be about 30 minutes from Tucson. Can you drive that far so you can have a good selection of doctors. I don't care for small town doctors. My wife has family in a small town, and her uncle was telling her how three patients died after this doctor operated on them. The townsfolk started calling him doctor nick.

edited in: It would be best if you found a builder that would build you a home to ADA specs. It gets really expensive modifying a standard bathroom to ADA specs especially when you need to move sewer lines and need a threshold-less shower. Also, bathrooms are the hardest room to remodel because it is almost impossible for even 2 men to work inside the average bathroom.

Good Luck

Must be high school grad, or GED! And, guess what? There's a big annual contest, Pickle Ball Tournament, mixed doubles champion get pick of the "girls" for the night-Huge Gala, everybody gets stupid falling down drunk, you know, pissing in the pool, girl fights! Really aggressive, over any man that ain't in Depends, etc. Loser gets voted off the Island, at least in theory? Sounds really fun, but they have rescue inhalers all over the place.

All this for only $6,600 per month USD? Hard to believe there is a one year waiting list, and they don't even check citizenship! Tempting, ain't it?

Good hunting. El Bee

PS Guided Dove Hunt every Sept. 1st south of Arivaca Junction.

edit: what the heck is ADA?

I know a couple of people that live in Sun City West, Phoenix. Ironically, one of them is a non-posting lurker here.
Anyway, they both speak highly of the place and the ratio of geezers to geezerettes is about 1 to 5.

Not only that, ko ko, but my girl cousin lives in Sun City, and so does Betty Ann, my ex housemate that lived with me for 6 exquisite months before she decided to go back, (in name only) to her neutered, (not really) husband! (don't ask, I can't figure it out either?) But, prime talent! (oh my god!) I miss her a lot! She was up at 4:30 to read her Bible, but that's a small price to pay for a TOTAL BABE that could, (and did) get up off the couch and win 10k's for her age group! A true Strawberry Blonde, including bush!

Now what were we talking about?

No, really, Sun City is a very nice, modest community with lots of charm and street legal golf carts and a line waiting at Denny's for the 4:30 special. What's not to like? My (kissing) cousin Judy has lived there since her divorce and that must have been 25 years ago? She sees Betty Ann around town occasionally too, and she claims we are just friends....ha!

Because they have such a large Snow Bird residents, the community has welfare patrols and as far as I know, damned little crime to speak of? Supposed to be at least 55 years old policy, last I heard? No block walls, unlike Southern California and there are bunny rabbits and Gamble's Quail in every back yard with coyote patrol most every night.

Interesting observation: most numerous out of state license plate-Alberta!

A little more on Sun City, at least I think this is accurate. There was an effort on the part of the children of deceased residents to lower the resident age limit because it so limits the buyer base. I don't know where it stands?

There is an association fee and I think it is somewhat optional, if you don't want clubhouse and pool access. At the time, I believe it was $1,400 annually? But, unless you participate, naturally, you are not going to be meeting a lot of the others socially. Not unless you bump into them walking your Poodle. But, those you do see seem content, which is a legit point: the folks do not seem grumpy, to me?

Would they call SWAT if they saw ko ko practicing with string and pointed sticks? I don't think so? At least some of them wouldn't care about his muscle Togs and bare chested; I'm sure the ladies would go GAGA, probably leave him a phone number for a good time and Cindy would have to chase away the fans. Repeatedly.

That's it from Sun City, Eloy. Back to you in the studio. What are they going for? I have no idea?

You think that's an euphemism for peter&balls? I really don't think so, but you and everyone else is entitled to an opinion.

But let me tell you what happened that had me practically hysterical. See, a friend sent me a book to read and I took it with me to pass time while waiting to be seen at EMERGENCY. If you folks do not know, it can require a lot of patience sitting in a chair, in a crowded lobby for 3-5 hours, and there are various other rooms, many of you know the drill.

I thought I could counter the boredom by reading this interesting book, or at least I was hoping it would be interesting. Did I mention that I had 3 separate admissions? Yes, but anyway, at some point after things quieted down, I lost track of my book. Panic ensued because I was sure to be asked or grilled about it and I even thought I would call down there and see if they have a lost and found. Then I thought I might have to contact the quaint little bookstore and have a replacement sent my way, post haste.

Then, after sweating bullets for almost a week, there was the book sitting on my kitchen counter! WTF? My daughter said, yes I noticed it in my big purse and it's been upstairs....Why? I guess at some point when I was at X-Ray or something, she took care of it for me but didn't mention it.

Oh, nothing! I've just been pulling my hair out wondering what to do, confess my shabby and careless attitude, or what? What a relief, didn't have to do that.

So, end of DRAMA!

And I have big concerns, many things have to be done very soon and Shelley is leaving today or tomorrow depending on if/when she can get a flight. My tax situation is a total fucking mess and my mortgage holder is threatening to slap me with an escrow account unless I can prove I paid my fucking property taxes, which I most certainly did! Anyway, it's like that with a few other situations and I will be fending this stuff by myself-oh! Yes, did I mention GoDaddy? It's not done yet but I will do it. I need a new hose! I bought one and it said medium duty or something like that which is one degree below contractor grade. First day, within ten minutes the fucking thing kinked up in 2 places. I coiled it up and it's sitting in my garage but I'm taking the piece of shit back, today if we have time. Otherwise, I cant drive with this damned boot. But I need to water the plumarias and I threw out the old hose, it's gone. Shit like that.

I've got so many things to do around here and it does sound a little attractive to live in a two room thing and not worry about a house and property. I have an arc welder that I haven't turned on in at least 5 years and a Chinese mill, kinda like a Bridgeport, same thing. Hard to imagine not having all my junk, if I move to something where they assist my living. I just don't know if I'm ready for Pickle Ball? I sure as hell don't want to die in California, that's for damned sure! But I have my will in a fancy binding, personally, I've never seen anything like it. Before, I had my will handwritten on one sheet of paper, dated and signed and on a shelf in the safe and Shelley knows the combination, easy peasy. And it didn't cost what this one cost but I'm told that it will easily avoid probate.

Hey, moving that safe into assisted living sounds like it will need the proverbial 3 men and a boy to set it up. This has NOT been decided, I could still wind up on that dirt road just down the block from ko ko but closer to the dead end. Question, how's the Door Dash over there?

It's a delivery system when you order groceries. I used it once. It's ok. I think they charge higher prices but not sure. If you are in a CERTAIN CONDITION it's very acceptable.

But I think most of the stores deliver anyway. I think you can call up Walmart and they will deliver but they have a window, could be several hours?

I can't drive right now so with Shelley leaving, I will kind of depend on DoorDash. The thing is my foot with the broken bone is my driving foot. It's painful to step on the brake. It's painful to stand on the damned thing.

I tried that, with a proviso that the successful candidate be over 18 and able to vacuum and dust in the nude. I had so damned many applicants that I was literally swamped, drowning in paperwork, photographs and gymnastic videos. Got so involved in screening that I forgot to even eat and then dizzy and I forget but it was a total lost weekend, minimum. Doctor advised me to never try that stunt again and if I did, come in for an office visit right away and bring any and all paraphernalia with me. I don't know where I get all these hallucinations, but since I fell and hit my head they just won't go away. Thankfully!

Good hunting. El Bee

edit: that reminds me of the time up in Winnemucca and Pat just had to stop at one of those "establishments" for which Nevada is famous. No, it was Battle Mountain. Anyway, after he was adequately serviced, we got to talking with both girls and damned if we didn't have them 90% convinced in going with us for night coyote hunting! They were pretty excited about it, one was saying her grandpa used to hunt squirrels or some such shit and the other was excited about shooting a real gun. Eventually, the spell was broken and we parted with handshakes all around, but it actually could have happened....or I made it all up. Ask Pat if you don't believe me!

Not sure assisting living will let you have guns on property Leonard, maybe have to ship them to me to watch over, can send handguns to Koko to keep eye on and oiled up.

I already sent ko ko almost all my handguns just to keep them safe and well oiled. He says they are resting peacefully and content all over the house and says, "send more when you get'em!" What a guy! Don't know what I'd do without him?

I'll tell you this much. This moving to AZ shit is getting to be a friggin' pipe dream, or as granny used to say; shit or get off the pot! Actually, no. I never had a relative of any denomination make that crude exclamation. It does make a point though.

My daughter is also become very interested in the Sunshine State. That helps a lot. It puts us one or two percentage points in that direction! But seriously? No guns in assisted living?

As I said, I thought assisted living was for the diaper crowd? But in all the presentations I have watched, these people look energetic, like pick up basketball happens almost every afternoon and Pickle Ball is just for the cripples. And with lots of hanky panky and choosing sides every day or so, especially what men are left have pretty much easy pickings, including the cripples! Especially the cripples! The girls wear Bikini's to the strip poker game on Saturday night as everybody likes to turn in early. It's like that in Safford, so I'm told-Now, if it ain't that way, then I am under some serious misconceptions. There ain't much else to do in Safford.

I've been busy fucking with Rocket Mortgage for the third day now. It's just sport, for me. They probably have another name for what I am, but I know that I am frustrating them, and seriously. Hey, they are the Number 1 lender! Like who gives a shit? I give them everything except permission to run my credit. They are going nuts. But they called me, so all's fair. It's exactly like the asshole that is worried about my computer and I need to depress the windows key. I don't have windows, this is a MacBookPro. Anyway, Rocket used to be Quicken Loan, but who gives a shit?

I think I have talked to 3 different people at ROCKET MORTGAGE, and they want to refinance my property in the worst way, but I think I already have the best loan available, but if I don't I am quite willing to a refi. It's just me. It's something to pass the time, fucking with phone robocalls. I think I get a lot more than average, I must? Every frigin' day! Everybody says, if you don't know the number, don't answer. Well, that's my mistake, I answer the phone and get free entertainment.

I know, weird dude, huh?
