Generally, I worry that they will be abused and any little bout of depression over losing your girl friend or your job or whatever reason that people feel sad about life, in general. I worry that there are zealots that are very eager to confiscate my gun.

However, you read this article and you get a different perspective, that Liberal assholes are, (as usual) afraid to stick their neck out. That's nothing new, but in this case, the kids mom knew better than the asshole that she went to for help.
Read about it here:
https://www.wsj.com/podcasts/the-journal/red-flag-laws-their-application-and-one-mothers-experience/b11951cd-bedd-4619-945a-b8408f681fae

Generally, I don't like bureaucratic regulations and the urge to disqualify people but in this case I blame Lilly Livered people in position of authority, including the police that should have known better and didn't, and the deaths are on them!

An ancient gun guru, Jeff Cooper, once said: “any law that can be abused will be abused". The most egregious example was the Donald Scott killing which was done using the Federal Forfeiture laws as a motive.

Thank you for the above. I don't think I knew about it? But, always, in these police shootings of innocent citizens I put myself in the position of the victim and it makes me very angry. Yes, it could just as easily be me gunned down by trigger happy cops.

So, as I finished reading, I thought about the Floyd killing, and the 23 million dollars, (last I heard) that his wife and family received shortly after via GoFund Me.

In my opinion, Floyd did many things, actions that contributed to his death. Other than that knee on his neck and the fact that he was very belligerent to the extent that 4 officers could not push him into the back of the squad car, and what the fuck do you expect? Yeah, somebody is going to hold him down and ignore his bullshit cries of, "I can't breathe!"

All over a counterfeit twenty dollar bill for a pack of cigarettes! Why that store owner decided to call the cops and 4 of them show up is beyond my understanding, the whole thing is just so stupid you have to shake your head. And yet, bronze statues have been crafted in his likeness and memorial. Fucking GAG ME WITH A SPOON! But, yes, I'm sympathetic, this felon has served time in prison and the wife and children that grieved extravagantly are rolling in dough thanks to the generosity of stupid people, and here I go again, bla bla blah!

Meanwhile, some geezer gets woken up in the middle of the night and the motherfucking 20 goddamned cops fill him full of lead and why no outrage that they contaminated the house with dangerous lead and I suspect some of it is still there! I demand a full investigation by environmental agencies!

I first heard about this roughly 30 years ago. For one year I subscribed to the Wall Street Journal, and they ran an article titled "Never Mind Only His Property Rights Were Violated". This article said "the smoking gun was the wildlife service had an appraisal in hand on that dreadful day at Scott's ranch. The Wildlife service shares the booty with the local law enforcement agencies, and they needed the appraisal to determine how much to pay the local swat team. I've tried to find this article but 30 years ago Al Gore hadn't invented the internet yet, so the article hasn't been digitized.

The thing is; your cited case is not all that rare. It happens mainly due to the forfeiture laws and that's the way these agencies get the stuff on their WISH LIST, from fancy breaching gear to nice speed boats and even funding their new Mounted Devision. It's something for nothing for these Gung Ho types, and Hey? what could go wrong?

What is needed is in depth investigation of the planning and execution of these raids. Raids that serve no legitimate purpose and cannot be justified. Always planned by the over eager boy scouts with real and lethal firearms and the bastards have the force of law covering every damned detail. This is not the people that should be planning raids and the big issue is that there is usually very little oversight! I suspect the mayors and Chief's of Police seldom know about these operations before they go down and fall apart but then they must cover everyone's ass.

The real problem is the incentive, the booty, the reward, whether it's an airplane or yacht or Rolex Watches. They shouldn't be allowed to retain the contraband. Border Patrol has been using forfeiture laws for many years and those drug runners usually have some very fancy gear. It's hard to resist!

But, that's my bitch. These are the wrong types to be in law enforcement, in the first place! Weed them out!

Luckily, the Arizona State Legislature recently passed and the Governor signed a bill that required return of the assets if the suspect/s is not indicted within 90 days by a Grand Jury. It won’t change the Federal LEOs, but at least Arizona has some politicians with half a Brain. I’m sure it won’t stop some of these egregious acts. At best it might make the police more careful in their investigations, but I doubt it.

I'd be, not "satisfied" per se, but at least a bit mollified if for once, the bureaucracy would not close ranks and protect trigger happy cops! While I do not agree with the Minneapolis clusterfuck, and BTW,

those 4 cops didn't deserve anything more than a reprimand, but the reality is: White Cop versus Guilty Black Career Criminal=White Cops guilty. That's reality. Has something to do with slavery a couple hundred years ago? Maybe it was the right thing to do, and worth 600,000 dead white soldiers, and maybe they should have left it for Congress to decide-HaHa!

But anyway, this closing ranks and protecting white cops that fuck up, has got to end! You cannot have 20 LE from a half a dozen agencies plan this sort of nonsense and just cover it up! We have to get to the root of these raids who's sole purpose is to generate income and resources to be divided per some formula to enhance their operations beyond the budget, what might probably be called a wish list of stuff/bootie that the supervision would never allow.

So, we need to stop/cease awarding the spoils and they won't be dreaming up raids, with live rounds and nervous and trigger happy cops and federal agents. They are all guilty of this gung ho shit, BUT WORST OF ALL IS COVERING THEIR ASS WHEN IT ALL TURNS TO SHIT AND THEY LIE THEIR ASS OFF. If one guy shoots and they never find any fucking marijuana, make the whole bunch guilty! If that sounds like a contradiction because of fore-mentioned Minnesota clusterfuck, assume there are always exceptions.

I'm just sick and tired of police misbehavior! It makes them all look bad. Especially when it's all planned and executed for profit! Twenty highly trained officers with machineguns versus some old fart with a 38 Special? This don't wash and sweeping it under the rug just makes my blood boil! end of rant!
