I got invite from my mentor and good friend to come down to southern Iowa and Mo. to run some dogs, I couldn't resist so off I go. Took about 7 hours to get down into TT country (Tony Tebbe). Rolling hills, drainages and dam good cover for coyotes. Also, some of the nicest landowners you will ever meet which meant we could hunt wherever we wanted. Good area for calling but found out the coyotes don't respond any better there than here, pretty tuff going. I wasn't sure of what the area would look like so only brought along two dogs for the hunt as buddy had over a dozen so no shortages there. Being this late in the year buddy said they going to be tough to find with the dogs as those that are still around have played the game and going to hang real tight. First day we jumped one coyote and dogs ran it over 16 miles and couldn't get it to stop for very long or long enough for other dogs to get to it and hold it. Ended up finally with a loss when coyote took to a gravel road and then onto a tar road, neither of which hold much scent and due to traffic, we pulled the dogs off. Next mourning started with a double jump, and they split the dogs up, so we had to add more dogs to the two races that seemed endless, as these coyotes new how to get around by using every bit of cover, water what have you to lose the dogs. One coyote took to crossing major highway, so dogs got caught soon as they hit the ditch and we took them around to other side and added them to the race going on there. It was pretty dam wild watching the dogs work and when it seemed like they had the coyote bayed it manage to break free again. The race also took dogs into another big section, talking five mile square and they run their course through that one back and forth from one side to other and then to other end and then into another new section. The dogs ran with pure heart and nothing else not giving up but finally around 3:00 p.m. they lost the coyote and we called it a day. I had a good time seeing dogs run in another part of the country and learned a little more about it as well as how to teach the dogs to fence and load up or rally to the truck by useing the horn. No ego trips or who dog better than who's, all about the hunt and good friendship. I sold one of my year-old pups to my buddy he really liked her as she could flat out fly and burn some hair off a coyote. I'll miss her..

I know you're just pulling my leg because Tillie runs like a deer! She's got a boiler room built like a Greyhound and I think she's got the heart and the instinct to run all day.

The folks next door have a German Shorthair and reminds me a little of your dogs because she's a pee wee! Smallest GSH I have ever seen, but they assure me she's got the pedigree, she was just the runt of the litter, not a hunting candidate but a good pet. Tillie goes nose to nose with her through the gate and she looks like a puppy, I think a coyote could probably clean her clock! [Big Grin]

Another thing, when we go to the dog park, Tillie is no trouble causer but she does not take any shit from male or female. I'm not speculating about what she would do in a fight to the death, but she ain't afraid of big dogs; and little yappers don't mess with her.

Yeah but she's a tree dog, and a looker, for sure. People around here don't know what the hell a coon dog is, but total strangers come up and tell me she's a beautiful animal. I mean, how many times a day do people come up and compliment a good looking dog? I don't know about others but my dog is a friggin' Beauty Queen and people tell me so, almost every day!

SO THERE!

Good hunting. El Bee

Yeah, it's embarrassing! Women, brazen mostly young ones! They must think I'm a cheap slut? Just using my dog to get acquainted, I can't really blame them.

dam dog is a women magnet for sure. To run coyotes it take a dog with alot of endurance, stamina, the will to run with just its heart and conditioning. most breeds don't make the list that's why Running walker is the go to breed, they bred for it.
