I'm not entirely clear? Yuletide is kinda "code" for Christmas, ain't it?
Solstice is everything from planetary cyphers to that pagan druid party time. Have we really got there already? Something about shortest day, is that what it means, sorta turns the corner and spring is just around the corner?
All I know is, we celebrate the Christian calendar, Is it called Gregorian lately? Not the Druid calendar, right?
The whole world takes it cue from the Old Testament, Ten Commandments and the Christian concept of Love thy Neighbor. This world would be in pitiful condition if we abided by any other rules of guidance and decorum....such as that Sheria garbage.
Anyway, Season's Greetings!

There's lots of ancient stuff that boggles the mind. How were primitive people without smartphones, no less!! able to figure out the sun and planetary movements? And this was before some Romans decided on leap years to keep things kosher and accurate re: the calendar so they would know what specific day the sun rose predictably to humble the masses. And, this was 5,000 years ago? A thousand years ago, they didn't know that a flea could kill off half the continent. But 5,000 years ago, they had some kind of accurate calculations and enough wealth to accomplish things beyond bare survival. And, so far as I have been told, the Druids didn't even build Stonehenge, they just stumbled upon it and sort of hijacked it for rituals that the originals never intended and still nobody knows the whys and wherefores. So, who discovered America and did Vikings really settle in Wisconsin? Beats the shit out of me?

I don't know. I think the shortest day of the year is today. I was bullshitting with some dudes in the Farm-Ranch store tonight.
I said typical shit wasted time & as usual do chores in the dark
I am cool with winter, usually. The short days do get on my nerves though..

Ok .......... Long story, less long;
As the Christian faith worked it's way out of the Middle East and across Europe it encountered many local and not so local Pagan / Druid / Norse beliefs and traditions. Getting the locals to accept that there was one God rather than a God for this and a God for that was quite a challenge.
Everything else was 'small stuff' and a lot of that was easier to adapt into the Christian Traditions. More than one local God or Demi-God explained to actually be a Saint. Solved a lot of problems and reduced a lot of friction.
Thus, the Yuletide Celebrations were rolled into and combined with the Christmas Celebrations. (Google 'mistletoe' for example) The whole 'melting pot' thing.
So .......... We have the Pagans celebrating the Solstice, the Christians celebrating Xmas and the Jewish folks celebrating Hanukkah all at roughly the same time.
