Not sleeping well here lately.
Cold temps are back 0400 and its 12 degrees. Its been dropping to 9 by day light the last few mornings.
Been put on the short leash so have not gotten anything outdoors done. Knee has come to a hault in progression to getting the scar tissue broke and getting on with my life. Seen the doctor yesterday. I truly hate Boise now. Anyway they are going to manually manipulate the breaking the scar tissue first thing Tuesday morning. Going to be a long day/night Monday. Have to be at the hospital 0530 Tuesday morning. It'll be out patient deal. Then a week of rest then start rehab over again. If things can go wrong it seems to be with this knee this time. The bleeding in the knee that happened 3 weeks ago set me back that much.
Looks like my hunting is over before it got started this season. Did see a coyote the other day from the chair. Been watching 70 or so head of cow/calves elk out the front window in a hay field. The other afternoon seen the coyote in the same field.

Rain,rain and more rain here.
That doesn't sound like a whole lot of fun doing the rehab you will be doing.BUT, once you kinda sorta get squared away you can get around to wacking a few critters. It's not like they will just vanish overnight you know. Well ,,,maybe if there is anything to those alien stories they wont be vanishing overnight.
Take care and heal and get back to doing all those things us oldtimers still wish we could do...And still think we can.

As I have mentioned about the jerk across the street, he is definitely not doing well after his knee replacement. He's bitter and angry and won't let the surgeon touch him again when he wanted to get in there and improve the situation. It could be that the problem is the patient rather than the doctor, not intentional, but some individuals have physical limitations and that's not the doctor's fault. In the case of my neighbor, he's really short and overweight and those pins he calls legs aren't the best I've seen and yet they have to support his tubby little body. I'm pretty sure he sluffed the rehab stuff because it was too painful and declined medication because he has a major beef with narcotics. This is hyped by media all day long and he swallowed it 100%. So, now it's going on 2 months and he's not improving. Like, what does he expect, since he is not doing a damned thing to help? Oh well, obstinate people are always pretty sure of things.

Good hunting. ElBee

I still like my surgeon. But have found out that this new age physical therapy people are like all medical fields. They are scared to death of being sued if they get to tough. Afraid if they make a patient hurt. Also my bleeding into the joint didn't help at all. Going off the eliquist for a few days so should help.

If you get a bad knee it's usually your fault for not following through with rehab. I've been working on it but the knee doesn't want to roll over. Doc and PAC could see and feel it. Its like you hit a wall and won't go any farther.

Just not looking forward to the drive 4 hours one way and now have a winter storm coming in. The joys of living in a nice place with no major city close by.

That's a big consideration! When my cousin's husband was found passed out on his front porch in Mormon Lake, they helicoptered him into Phoenix, but of course, he never regained consciousness. So, living too far out in the sticks can work against you. My knee, which is the third attempt is very good, no pain and I seem to have complete freedom of movement. But, it does make a clicking noise when I walk.

But, the surgery that scares me the most is spinal! I have seen more botched jobs in that area than any other. This latest procedure I had, an epidural, wasn't much in the way of discomfort but it didn't help, either. But, I see these people going back for years, much like a chiropractor. Fortunate for me, the morphine I take is just enough to mask the pain without making me feel drugged so I have no incentive to go back for another epidural. And, the only reason I did it is because the "authorities" are worried that I'm getting too much drugs. I can see the day when they will cut me off and the options won't look very attractive. But at least they won't worry that some bean counting bureaucrat won't be pestering them that they are prescribing too much pain killer for LB. Can't have that!

Good hunting. El Bee

edit: Paul, that fresh air is getting to you, might need some kind of filter?

edit: PS
anybody doing any hunting, at all?

Been getting out doing a bit of calling, roving shooting with the bow and scouting for Javelina.
There are still pockets of fur but they're getting to be fewer and farther between.

You don't need to scout for Javelina you need to sit with your back to the sun looking at the base of a hill they will just appear! I like javelina you don't have to get up early ! They are the bankers of the land !

Back in the good old days, the thing that decided me on where to go, if I was driving out of state for fur, was that Arizona fur and especially cat fur just isn't as good, in the eye of a professional buyer. We could get top dollar for Nevada lynxcats in November and never see equivalent prices anywhere in Arizona, even January, don't ask me why? Besides, I never saw an actual lynxcat in Arizona, I don't think? Although I think I did see a very few in NM, including the biggest bobcat I ever killed. I sold a truck with a photo in the glovebox of that cat stretched across both sides of a two track, a huge tom, whereas, the biggest cat I ever got in Nevada was actually a female, about 31 pounds. But they are lanky long legged creatures, and make most regular bobcats look like midgets. They are also much less marked, have an overall gray pelt and only the belly is well spotted. Even so, they average 25-28 pounds which is a lot more than our SoCal desert cats. Them were the days, for sure!

Good hunting. El Bee

edit: PS the coyotes average bigger up there in northern Nevada than Arizona, except maybe between where Paul is and over to Flagstaff or maybe as far as Two Guns? Some of those coyotes are fair size and fur out pretty good, including Mormon Lake. I think it must have something to do with the elevation? I don't know a hell of a lot about the north side, for some reason, never ventured in there very much at all. But, as I always said, getting into Utah was always not very productive, the locals keep the critters pretty well thinned out. I once saw 5 bobcat on a hillside, in Utah, only managed to kill one, just didn't work out?
Except, maybe right now, with fires etc. northern Nevada is not as good as northern Utah, according to member Chad.

Can you shoot a cat in Nevada not being a resident?

No. NR can't take bobcat or grey fox.

Nothing is the same any more. Like we remeber from
20 to 30 years ago.

Large areas now with very low or no coyotes. We're thinking the surplus of coyotes has finally been thinned out. Mainly from diease not trapping or calling.
