Hey Paul;
Go stand out by the freeway & see if you can spot him going by. Starting to get concerned...… old people wandering away from home, getting lost & confused, ….. all of that.

Get one of those archery string trackers & put it on your belt. When you go somewhere tie the end to the gate.
We can't have both of you lost !!!!

ATTENTION:

Pleas call off the search party! 🎉
I got home yesterday before noon. Unfortunate, but coming and going, on I-40, it was much too late for polite visitation.
However, I did honk repeatedly, and got hostile reaction from the big rig right in front of me who immediately tried to run me off the road; I assume because of my Kalifornia plates?

Same thing happened on the return leg. It was zero:dark/thirty passing Ashfork, but I emptied a clip at the highway sign as proof of intent to say “howdy” at least.

All this happened with both me and Aaron bobbing and weaving and nodding and threatening to drive into the weeds before pulling over every 50 miles or so?

Friends, the trip was brutal and only after conferring with my son who apparently had enough brains to check into accommodations but we never thought of it?

Tillie made the trip in good spirts. She got many looks at the truck stops and rest areas, as well. Apparently, nobody had ever seen a decent looking hound dog before?

Jet Lag is still with us? Even Tillie, who had never seen a mirror, flipped out! She also jumped in the pool, and had to be shown where the swim step is located. Seems, she had, in fact seen a pool before, but it was a kiddie wading pool where she could stand up. She still has a few things to learn.

That’s all for now. Brutal trip, for sure! That motel room, turns out, should have been for sleeping instead of chewing the fat all friggin’ night! Boy, did we pay for that!

Good hunting. El Bee 🐝

YES, THAT'S ALWAYS A PROBLEM.

On the other hand, I accidentally found a cheap, but effective "chew toy". You know those water bottles with the screw cap? Tillie can flatten them for me in 15 minutes. It's amazing, complete with crinkly sound effects. What's amazing, I used to just toss them, I bet I've wasted several dozen that way.

Today, we are off to the feed store, if we can find one that carries something called 9 in one, puppy inoculation. I guess she's due more or less and he has done it to all his dogs and I can observe and learn. Then, I might buy a real cute red fox toy that I saw the other day. And, we might go to a dog park so she can get socialized with the local pit bulls.

On other words, a very busy day.

Good hunting. El Bee

PS I have a few less than perfect photos, I will see if I can get them posted.

I very intentionally said "clip" just to keep you jokers on your toes!

Tillie and I have settled into a comfortable routine where she wakes me up between 3 and 4 am. The sound she uses is very similar to what sounds like when she is skinned alive with a dull knife, the sound effects are wonderful and I should be recording them for the hurt pup after the shot, if some of you guys remember that proven technique on doubles.

She got her inoculation, not a peep out of her on that one. Then we went to the dog park down on 12th st. We went into the small dog side. All the Siberians and Husky's and German shepards were waiting at the gate, hoping to make friends. But, guess who made friends? Yup, and I will be going back to visit with Julie and her intact Jack Russell who was exercising the big dogs on the other side of the fence. But Julie is a "Hottie" for sure, and a widow who lives with her daughter and grandson.

Tillie peed on her brand new pad inside the carrier. We will have to learn a few details like be sure to pee before being put away for the night.

Another thing is, she has fallen off the tile around the spa and into the water which doesn't seem to bother her a whole lot. It's easier to get a drink from there than from the coping. She's definitely not afraid of the water. Being squirted is another thing altogether. She has a good appetite. I bought something, designer chow, with Bison and venison and she ate the whole bowl very early this morning, and it's different from the Sam's Club puppy kibble that we had a small supply of for the trip home.

I'm striking out on photos. Tiny pic I could not get to work and Photo bucket wants $4.99 per month. I'm looking around for a free hosting site but have not found one yet? Anybody? Don't suggest the little faggot's Facebook, I won't go there.

Good hunting. El Bee

well, it worked this time!

She has two speeds, practically unconscientious and turbo charged, nothing in between. She prefers to be inside, or around people, hard to say which? She will go to anybody, but she's very leery of strange dogs, she takes no initiative at all towards sniffing another nose much less another butt.
I held her, and Gene across the street held their little male and we let them sniff noses where upon, she peed all over my boot; guess she didn't like his stink?

But, she has adapted here without missing a beat. She kinda wants to go up and sniff Pinky but he won't allow it. She will have to be cautious with him, he might lose but she would know she had been in a fight.

Anyway...

edit: everybody says she is beautiful and I have to agree.

She's a good looking dog. Just be ready for a very LARGE dog in the near future it is looking like.
Let her chew on a cat or two and you'll never have problems again. Except for the stripped black and white ones. [Big Grin]

I don't really know how she will turn out? The father is a little over 70 pounds and the mother is closer to 45. But, out of 4 males and 3 females at this stage, there's not much discernible difference between the males and females. I think she was whelped May 19th, so she's close to 12 weeks right now. I can find out, for sure. I have the Kennel Club application out in the glove box. But as far as chewing on cats, she does have needle sharp baby teeth right now and I can't tell if she has any permanent teeth pushing through as yet?

She has a lot of spirit

My dog is Tally we might have problem calling them together although Tally has an electronic collar that makes verbal unnecessary . She comes either way with enthusiasm ! Great looking little girl Leonard !

Tillie has this little trick where she bites a little piece of my skin with her needle sharp front teeth. It's not mean, but it hurts like hell! She has several other tricks, but mostly she is exuberant and full of fun. A couple chew toys from Petco and she immediately knew they were her's. She noticed that Pinky can talk, the look was priceless. Four days straight, wakes me up at 4am to unlock the kennel. Acts like she doesn't know what the hell a puppy pad is for? Ignores them, but I have only caught her squatting inside once, but there is a spot out on the corner of the deck that is suspiciously yellow and damp? This morning she helped me take a dump, sort of stood guard. Good dog! She does think she belongs up on my recliner when I'm in it....she must have a bit of poodle in her background? I have the impression that she has definitely grown in a week and there is hardly room here for both of us. I'm suddenly remembering that puppies are a lot of work! I took her to the dog park for socializing, then to Petco where she picked out a couple things. EVERYBODY notices her and wants to know what she is, even if they are still baffled by the response? However, the comment is always; "She's beautiful!" And, this is at the dog park where they have seen a few dogs, so I can't hardly disagree. They have picnic benches under the trees on the large dog side and it's quite a ways away, at least a hundred yards. But, they let curiosity get the best of them and wander over just to ask what breed she is? She attracts attention. One little girl who had her own dog still played with Tillie and wanted to take her home; (she's a charmer)

That's it for the Tillie Blog, for today

Something to do;
I've been teaching our dog (some kind of pit / hound / mutt mix ) to sing with me. While sitting out on the patio I'll do a somewhat passable coyote voice howl & if I do it right the dog will join in. The wife is less than amused but the dog & I seem to be having a good time and it might come in handy someday on a coyote stand.
Dogs are great !!!

With your talent, you could be curing cancer, but no! You are instead teaching your dog to annoy your wife. <shakes head>

You could be constructive, like me, teaching Tillie to shit all over her kennel. Weren't too bad, I hosed it down and only lost two hours sleep....so far.

Good hunting. El Bee

PS the term, (or expression, if you will) "shit all over" does not always convey accurately what happened. Maybe "shit hit the fan" works a little better, in this case? Use your imagination; while I try to get some sleep, good night!

BOY, HOWDY!

edit: but she's good in the bath, takes it like a trooper!

When I was hosing down the kennel and the mattress, she tried to help by biting at the hose nozzle? She's like a duck commander, not bothered by water at all., jumping in it, wading in it or being sprayed. My Redbone loved creeks and the beach and even a bath when she tangled with a skunk. But turn on a hose, it didn't even have to be aimed at her and she would freak out!

Good hunting. El Bee

Yeah, our dog will chase a stream of water out of the hose 'til she can't chase no more. Saves doing that whole bath thing and afterwards she prances around the yard like it's not even 105*.

Haven't gotten to where I can vacuum her yet though.

Why thank you, Dave! But, everybody seems to agree, even if they never saw a hound dog like that before?

But, I'm thinking, this is just like the whole vast chasm between the Liberal coasts and the rest of Normal America, the so called, "Fly Over Country".

My son says practically every pick up in North Carolina has a dog box in back. While the Liberals think dogs mean French Bulldogs and Yorkshire Terriers. Go figure.

Update:

This morning I heard the lonesome howl at 3am. I had to play with her for an hour. Well, at least half of it was sleeping in my lap. This morning she helped me water in front and is ow guarding the back yard pretending to be asleep sprawled half way out of her kennel.

I need to figure out some way to house train her. The suggestion I have heard; observe her sniff around and start to squat, that doesn't work, at all.

She doesn't sniff around, she squats and piddles and she's done before I can even react. I still have two pee pads down and she has avoided them since day one.

I'm a little baffled, except for leaving her outside and inside I have her on the leash so she can't wander off.

Good hunting. El Bee

edit: bonus!
When we bought this house 45 years ago, it came with all kitchen appliances. One thing that has gone unused is the trash compactor. I was worried about leaving a bag of kibble in the garage for critters to get in to. Not a big deal I guess?

However, I know two different people that had dogs and kept dog food in their dishwasher, of all places. Old school. Wash dishes in the sink. I always thought it was very weird. Especially, even when we were first married and renting, my lovely bride insisted on a portable dishwasher that hooked up to the sink.

PS, the thing in favor of dishwashers is the sanitizing, sterilizing. Even if there is a chunk of something left, it's unsightly but it's sanitized.
