Anyone here who has Leonard's phone number tried to reach out to him or had contact? Looks like he lives between the epicenter and LA and probably got quite a jolt.

I got a text message from a girlfriend in Huntington Beach, asking me about the quake about 10 minutes after it happened. Apparently she got quite a jolt?

However, it was the first I had heard of it. The thing is, I have the whole range of the San Gabriel Mountains right behind me and they absorb a lot of that shake and bake.

Like I told her, on the quake that was actually centered in Upland about 20 years ago, it was a Sunday morning and I was sitting in my chair reading the LA Times about 7 A.M. when the quake struck, I jumped about 6 feet straight up! This was only a 4.3 quake but it was 5 miles straight down and it scared the crap out of me. Later on I heard that neighboring cities like Pomona and San Dimas has damages in the millions, and in Upland there was one water heater that wasn't strapped down. You never know, but this town is solid rock and does not shake rattle and roll.

The quakes that cause a lot of damage are the strike shear type, (I think they are called) and our quake was a blast and over with as soon as it started. When they start shaking and keep shaking, it seems to me, those are the ones that cause buildings to fall apart.

I heard the Ridgecrest quake had 3 or 4 pre-shakes and a bunch of aftershocks and yet, I didn't fell a one, here? Don't know what to tell ya, Lance?

Ridgecrest, the gateway to the China Lake Navel Air Base, might be 50-60 miles away, in a straight line, but unfortunately, you have to go around the San Gabriel's east or west and that would make the trip twice as long, either Newhall or by way of Adelanto up 395. That's all I can figure, Mount Baldy, right behind me absorbed all that shock and I never felt a thing.

Good hunting. El Bee

Good to hear. Been working on my drug proposal for the past week and have been nose-deep in my lap top rather than watching tv. Happened to see a post about it earlier on FB and wondered about ya.

Your buildings there are built for shaking like ours are for wind. A brief period doesn't do a thing, but if the forces continue for a long time, they eventually wear down and fail.

Good to hear there's nothing to see there in Upland.

One thing about earthquakes; Pacific Ring Of Fire.
Big circular plate Calif. to Asia. Sure as night follows day, if there's a quake of note on one side of that plate there will be a quake usually within 6 months on the opposite side.
'Bout 6 weeks ago, Japan got hit, now Calif.

WAIT ………………… Let's blame Trump !!!! He caused the global warming that melted the icecaps and caused the earthquake !!!!!

And lo, the Light of the Trump shown upon the Darkness and the Darkness could not comprehend it.

Well, at least Newton comes into play, for every action, there is an equal reaction. So, relieving stress along the San Andreas creates stress on another fault, it's Domino's Pizza all over again. That's another thing. After a quake, Mexicans will be sleeping in the park for several days afterwards. Precautionary. Not against Mexicans, at all. In fact, I love Tacos!
