To someone or thing nice warm and cozy. Someone left the window open last night and let the cold back wash over the divide. Minus 4 so far this morning. Had snow showers yesterday and got a dusting of snow then it was gone. New storm coming in today. Looks like Dave A will need to took up the goats to get out of the drive way tonight.
Have a good one everyone. [ December 24, 2017, 05:11 AM: Message edited by: earthwalker ]

ol' Dave will be in no shape to drive. He stopped at the package store yesterday for some good cheer and you know how he gets after a few Hot Toddy's.
Yes, those goats will have to fend for themselves. But, Be Merry, and add an extra blanket tonight.
Good hunting. El Bee

Well, no biggie, wound up with about 4"-5" of snow. Goats fended for themselves well. This winter so far is nothing like last year !!
My buddy & his wife came over last night, between me & him & my wife's dad, we made a pretty good dent into a 5th of Crown. Head still hurts, I'm on the wagon again
Merry Christmas !!

It was a cool -16 F here in the UP of MI this morning. Just think how cold it would have been if we didn't have global warming.

Up early and drove down to the other place. Snow depth varied greatly from Challis to Horseshoe Bend. Stanley its self had less than a foot. Banner summit looked good and normal deep snow. At our place it looked cold and real winter. 3-4 inches, had to get a atv running and the plow on. Got the placed plowed out. Weather peeps saying rain down in the valley by Friday. Didn't want a ice rink the rest of the winter. Don't get more than a hour of sun down there in December and January. Temps have been single digits at night in the mountains and getting into the 20's during the day. No snow at the Challis house just a dusting. Compared to last year we have no snow. Temps haven't been bad. Almost 60 and winters and cold temps are no longer bothering me. What in the world happened? Must be the over built house and the new and better winter clothing. I love it!!!#

Boil meat ????? Good grief.........isn't that illegal in five southern states and the Hawaiian Islands ????
I must be getting old; I would rather be out in the sun in 100* than be bundled up in that <30* air.

As I understand it, a good method with beef ribs is to boil them first before putting them on the barbecue? I haven't done it but I have eaten them prepared this way.
But, the English have never been known for their culinary skills. Kidney Pie? WTF? Many examples, too numerous to mention.
I could be more harder on them except they may actually come to their collective senses and withdraw from the European Union. That deal is a real clusterfuck.
Bright sunny day here. little chilly, at 53* right now, supposed to get to 75 today. I say again, (in my defense) you really can't beat the weather here. It's the people; the wetbacks, the Liberals, the Democrats, Hollyweird, the control freaks, etc.
Good hunting. El Bee

I think when you posted earthwalker. It was *26 here in the fog-snow-ice bowl. 90% humidity.
I have no idea how folks handle things where it's really cold ?
I know my hands are numb after chores with decent gloves that still provide feel ? that's the thing ya have to be able to feel the twine on the hay bale & such ? not counting all the chicken chore stuff ?
I'm glad, I'm small time. [ December 27, 2017, 08:00 PM: Message edited by: Dave Allen ]

Leonard boiling ribs is a mortal sin according to sister Mary Boudreaux. You can and must boil pastrami and corned beef but these are pickled meats. 24 here this AM sitting by the wood burner witnessing the destructive distillation of cellulose fiber.

Grew up on a small farm as a kid in the 60's and 70's. Fought tractor not starting and so forth. Milked cows for a few years and fought cow chit up to my knees and beyond. Went through several floods. I don't miss the tuff times or that valley and its endless foggy winters.

Of course! I knew that!
I boil the hell out of corned beef every St Patrick's Day in honor of my dearly departed Nancy, who was proud Irish and gone twelve years in April.
