What is the general consensus nowdays on Burris scopes? Good, bad, ugly, what? Mark

Mark, Burris gives Hunter Ed guys a discount. My calling partner also teaches with me and he just put this one on his new R-15:
http://www.burrisoptics.com/scopes/fullfield-tac30-riflescopes-series/fullfield-tac30-riflescope-1-4x24mm
We sighted it in about 3 weeks ago and while the reticle isn't my cup of tea, he loves it.
Has a red dot on top of the scope. The scope looks to be well built and it was easy to adjust.

Mark, are you looking at any one scope in particular?
I have an ol' Made in the USA FullfieldII that is decent enough to still keep around. The fit & finish on it is nicer, when compared side by side with the more recent Phillipno made FFIIs...
Burris has been coming out some FFP tactical offerings that look cool, but they are big 34mm tubed sumbitches.
Burris acquired Steiner, not too long ago.
My default setting for low-mid level optics is Bushnell...

Thanks guys, Fred, not looking at anything in particular for myself, had a buddy asking about them, he used to be a big Burris fan. I just wasnt sure what had become of the quality nowdays. Mark

I have one Burris, a 6X24. Never felt particularly enamored, since. Sits in the box, unmounted, for must be like five years now? Opinion is, indifferent.
They bought Steiner? I would have thought the other way around?

LB, I think it should say .... The asians who bought Burris also bought Steiner. Steiner is/was contracted by the U.S. military for binos & maybe (?) various range finders etc.

My personal experience with Burris has all been negative. When I worked for a large sporting goods store chain, the most returned brand of scope I had to deal with was Burris. I've owned 4 Burris scopes all of them have failed in one way or another in the first year. None were cheap either. I don't see me buying anything made by Burris any time soon.
