I suppose the US team was favored, but this is ridiculous!

Yes, I know it's a boring game and all that, but it's every (what?) four years and the rest of the world thinks it's a BFD. So, I guess it's like rubbing their noses in it?

I don't know the final, they have only played 18 minutes so far but it looks like we will be world champions. (Chick version)

Good hunting. El Bee

edit: oh, it's 4-0 U.S. versus Japan.

Wow, what torture! After 93 minutes of bewildering extensions, they finally won 5-2. One more time, BFD!

Never understood the game.
A bunch of doofi (plural of doofus ?) running around in costumes based on their underwear, and too dumb to bend over and PICK UP THE BALL !!
Probable cause; brain damage from bouncing the ball with their heads ??

Soccer, next to golf, is akin to watching grass grow.

With that said, those ladies are easy on the eye, and I bet they could crack walnuts with their thighs... [Eek!]

There was maybe 10-20% that were actually cute and feminine.

The rest were what appeared to be Dykes. Both sides.

But how do they extend a 60 minute game out to 93 minutes?

I know it's boring, I just thought somebody might appreciate a little American pride, the day after the 4th?

Good hunting. El Bee

Ok..........I will concede;
They developed a high level of skill.
They competed with opponents at or near their skill level.
They played by the rules and won.
Congratulations.
But I still don't see the point of it. To me the game is just silly.

I agree, Paul.

Soccer just does not rise to my level of interest. But, I also understand that Globally, it is a very big deal. So, in an activity that Americans are only marginally interested in, we beat the pants off rabid fans of Germany, Japan, England, etc.

That's all I'm saying; It's gotta hurt.

Now, on the other hand, I have become so disenchanted with Professional Football that I truly do not care who wins, and consider fans to be CHUMPS !

The NFL owners are greedy bastards, Georgia
hawking tickets was so tawdry, it was hard to believe. They move franchises from Cleveland to Los Angeles to Anaheim and to St Louis and suddenly we are supposed to bleed for OUR team. I don't give a fuck what the Rams do since they left the
Coliseum.

I can barely get interested in college ball, but sometimes I still care, a little bit.

The only game, FOR ME, with any honesty, is baseball. God, when I think of Little League and high school ball, and of course, I just love the Dodgers, well, everybody is entitled to an opinion, but this is an American game with integrity, except for Pete Rose, of course.

Basketball, since the days of Jerry West and Elgin Baylor has become insanity. How people get excited about what black giants do is beyond me? Since Jordan, nobody ever heard of the term, "TRAVELING". There again, college ball is not played by kids, these are grown men and are paid rather handsomely. (wink)

The Olympics. Need I go on? Beach Volleyball?

I agree, Leonard. Women's soccor has that "cheerleader effect" going for it. That is a phenomenon where women in a group appear to be more attractive, as compared to if they were seen alone. The bulldykes of the bunch sure must enjoy locker room time!

Soccor ain't my cup o' tea as a spectator sport. Heck, hockey is the same basic game, played @ 10x speed on ice, with sporadic physical aggression & brutality, and that is barely viewable...

I reckon, chalk me up as a disillusioned sports fan, as well. With big $$$ business and ridiculous salaries being the driving force behind teams/players nowadays, the purity of what is "sporting" has been diluted beyond repair.

Sports is just about the only TV I watch. I like a lot of sports. But I watch it to be entertained by elite, world class athletes competing at an almost unimaginable level of skill and conditioning. Not because I actually give a fuck.

So, I watch a lot of NBA basketball - haters gonna hate, but what those guys do every night is unfreaking believable. Sheer athleticism is just amazing. Had season tickets for a long time. Been to many hundreds of NBA games. I watched Jordan play in person many times, the game has gotten a lot more interesting to watch since then though, if you ask me. Rules encourage much more free flowing, fast paced offense.

College basketball is almost unwatchable to me. Just way too slow and unskilled. Only the Final Four will I walk to the other side of the airport terminal to watch.

Baseball, nothing better than going to a game, but I'd rather mow the lawn than watch a baseball game on TV. Most unwatchable sport ever for TV. At least regular season, with only a few camera angles. LCS and WS are decent enough, but hard to devote enough time out of my life to sit through an entire game.

Football... Love going to see college games live, will even watch college ball on TV and enjoy it if I happen to be indoors with nothing else to do while a game is on. NFL, I don't go out of my way to watch, but absolutely enjoy a good game when I happen to be around a TV while one is going on. But, that time of year, I'm usually outdoors doing stuff and not watching TV.

Soccer... Can't stand to watch it. And don't care at all.

Sports on TV is the only thing our family will watch together. But there are preferences.

Soccer- Can't get into it.

Baseball- Live games are fine, but on TV it is like watching paint dry and the games are crazy long. 162 games is too many also. Unless there were some drastic rule changes to speed up the game and make each game meaningful, I could easily go the rest of my life and never watch another game on TV.

Golf- I'm 47 and still too young to play golf... Good background noise for a Sunday nap though. I can appreciate the skill and mental fortitude it takes to play the game.

Basketball-I used to love the college game, but it has deteriorated so much the past few years with all the talent going 1 and done. Will still watch games occasionally during March Madness.

NBA- I've gotten back into after taking a decade off. I really got into the playoffs the past couple years. I wish the regular season could be played with the same intensity as the playoffs? The guys in the NBA have amazing physical abilities.

Football, college and pro, is my favorite. Hell, on Monday nights we often eat in front of the TV.

I could honestly care less about the gross amounts of money professional athletes and organizations make. There is such a small portion of the population that can do what these athletes do. The way I look at it is if you are blessed with some amazing talent or brains and can make it work for you, you might as well get top dollar for it.

I'm with Dave & Lonny.

Sports is the one thing my family enjoys together. Especially football, in particular college football. Heck we watch games just because we hate some teams like STANFORD !! hoping the other team beats 'em..Lol

Yes, I've also warmed back up to the NBA after taking several years off.

I thought the finals were amazing. I think Lebron James could put any four of us in a uniform and if given say 10 cracks @ an average NBA team we would win one, just because of him. Lol

I'm not in love with the guy mind you. I think he's one hell of a competitor though.
