everything I have heard is that this is a good movie and the only people that poopoo it are Liberals that are afraid of guns.

Further, they say Cooper, (that his name?) give a hell of a performance.

You know, probably 90% of the members here are, or can easily relate to this "occupation". I guess Fred is our resident tacticool expert?

Anyway, I want to see it.

What I have not heard is what happened to the asshole that shot Kyle? Anybody know?

Good hunting. El Bee

I saw it, last week.

As always, "the book was better". If you've read the book, you'll notice that the movie snips actual events & sequences them in order to make a viable story line to fit a movie. Every movie needs a hero, a villain, a tragedy, a climax, etc. Chris Kyle's book has all of those in spades, just that the movie molded them to make a story that flows on screen...

All in all, I think the movie did an excellent job in capturing what Mr. Kyle was getting at in his book:the struggles of war, and the toll it takes on the warrior, and his family.

Bradley Cooper really did a super job in conveying those struggles in a believable fashion. I think he did Chris Kyle and his family proud with his performance. I believed him...

Haha, I was thinking some New Yawk pre-release preview type thingy that maybe some of your guido pals got you into. Your answer leads me a whole 'nother direction. I need to get learned up by someone tech savy-er than me.

In the book Chris Kyle says "if I had of seen it or if I would have done that" a whole lot but officially it could have got him in trouble.

So if Fred would've seen it last week, it would've been a good movie but officially it opens tomorrow. [Smile]

Just got back. Full house, lots of applause at the end. Seemed authentic, to me; I'm a vet, the military hasn't changed.

I would have liked to see more sniping but I can understand why they focused on the knocking down doors stuff.

Anybody else?

Yes, I saw it last night as well.

Best war movie I have seen. That's what I am going with. I am calling my father today to tell him he has to see it. He loves this stuff.

As far as sniping goes, I see what you are saying Leonard. I think they (Hollywood) portrays a lot of different aspects of the Legend's life and military career because the audience isn't necessarily comprised of hunters and shooters as we are. Notice they focus on the family aspect, and the toll the war and Legend's service took on his family, especially his wife. They even put a little snippet about the enemy sniper's family life, as if they were going through the same thing. I don't know if this is in the book or not, or how they could have known this. But I think a lot of war movies are "compromised" due to the fact that they want to put some stuff in there for the women in the audience. I guess it's all about making big $$. It cost me $57 to take my two boys.

This is just my humble opinion.

I can't wait to read the book.

Does anyone know if Chris' Wife will get any money from this movie's success? I sure hope so, and I don't want that Ventura asshole getting any. Jesse Ventura is a fucking disgrace.

Just a short mention. At the end of the movie, something bothered me. Here is Kyle walking into a room and pointing a revolver at his wife. It kinda looks like a single action Freedom Arms but I wouldn't swear to it? Anyway, it's COCKED. Maybe it's not loaded while he is playing grabass for some unknown reason, but in that condition, that's a friggin' hair trigger and he just shoves it on a high shelf and walks out the door to oblivion.

Not the image I wanted. But yeah, the casket was impressive with all those tridents. (exact same casket as my dad was buried in) Should have seen it eight years later when we dug him up and flew him to Olympia to be with my mom. Those beautiful wood caskets don't last, even in a thousand dollar vault.

Good hunting. El Bee

I bet the real Chris Kyle wouldn't have been playing with a cocked single action revolver like that.

Geez, feel like I have to take a shower after that…he makes everyone that has a different view of his feel dirty. I guess I never will understand the left.

We are taking a trip next month that will take me to the town in France where my dad was hurt on July 11, 1944 during the breakout. I am going to take pictures and show them to my 91 year old mom so she can put places with the names she has only heard about and spoken about the last 70 years.

I asked her if there was anti-war sentiment in WW II…she said there was a bit, but that the whole country was so patriotic that the anti’s kept their mouths shut should they find their mouths being shut for them.

Interesting how attitudes have gradually gotten more liberal from WW II, Korea, Vietnam and now through the war on terror. Damn shame the liberals can’t rally around the USA.

I read the book a few years ago, liked it, and had a huge amount of respect for Chris Kyle. When I read about him being killed, I felt like I had just been gut-punched.

I knew I had to see the movie and did so yesterday. I tried to go the day before and it was sold out. Packed house and nothing but silence at the end.

It crossed my mind after watching the movie that the success of American Sniper has to be a nightmare for the hand-wringing liberal crowd. Millions of American citizens, shelling out millions of dollars, to see an American hero smoke a hundred plus bad guys.

Good core values, protect your own, the yes sir, yes ma'am, and respect for others is still alive in this country. The movie oozed what makes this country great and it ain't playing nice with those who would sooner see us dead. And that's bound to have some people really upset.

Can you picture Obama watching American Sniper?

I'm wondering what's going to happen when it's shown in countries like England and France that have a large infestation of the smelly little camel humpers. More riots from the religion of peace and tolerance ??

Basically, it's wolves, sheep and sheep dogs. There are people that do not deserve others risking their life to protect the clueless.

At some point, I think decent people will be shook out of their denial, and realize it's us against them; they ain't going away.

Perhaps a really big event, like detonating a dirty bomb in Israel? At that point, understanding that it's going to be survival, this might be the best thing that could happen since stuff like "Twin Towers" seems not to be sufficient motivation?

The "good" muslims will have to be damned sure to let us know who they are because it won't be pretty. Yeah, I'm actually thinking what's called for is a religious war. Judeo-Christians versus Islam. I think the Hindi's and nominal Buddhists will fall on the right/correct side.

All wishful thinking, perhaps? But, something's got to give. Understand one thing. They cannot possibly win, unless we just lay down and allow it. They have nothing but willpower, something we don't have, at the moment. Once we wake up and take no prisoners, (and muzzle the Liberal element) we can solve this problem that has been festering for far too long.

End of rant. [Smile]
