First of all, read this article and particularly the comments below. It will demonstrate about a hundred or so supposed firearm experts. They talk about "armor piercing" and vests and "tracers" and supposedly, the guy that assembled this ammo and sold it to the asshole shooter is now in trouble for manufacturing ARMOR PIERCING AMMUNITION

I didn't know that you needed a license to assemble ammunition for sale? I don't know what constitutes armor piercing? As we all know, any garden variety 223 or 5.56X45 round will sail right through body armor. Unless they use ceramic or hardened steel insert plates. Kevlar won't stop a bullet fired from a center fire rifle, regardless of the caliber. Maybe I need to be careful, but I'm referring to common 22 caliber and maybe 17 and 19 and 20 caliber but those rounds represent such a minuscule percentage of what's out there and what's available that we can generalize a bit.

So called bullet proof vests are designed to protect against most common handgun cartridges and the bullets they fire. Yes, I know they make solid bronze machined bullets that they call cop killer. At least I think they peed their pants over such a thing several years ago?

Somebody brought up in the comments that the concern was the fuel tanks located somewhere behind the venue. There again, almost any standard .224" bullet will penetrate most fuel tanks so you don't need to use armor piercing....whatever that is? Maybe a hardened steel core instead of lead? I don't know but it seems to me there is any number of armchair experts that will tell us what is legal and what defines armor piercing.

Also seems to me, .224" armor piercing bullets are somewhat of a joke? And, since when do you need a license to assemble cartridges with an armor piercing bullet? Or, is it to manufacture for purpose of selling those cartridges that is illegal? Too many legal experts responding for me to figure out what the law is and what it is not.

Does anybody know what is going on and is this man guilty of anything, or not? Seems to me, the slippery slope is there and if they can hang this man, they can hang anybody that reloads for a friend and the friend kills his exwife with ammo you "illegally" made?

Comments?
