Here is a clip thought yall might like. Goal was to get Bryson his first coyote and get a little pup training in.
Usually don’t get too exicted, but I will give a fist bump to a 10 year on his first coyote..lol

Sugar is the black dog I got from Ryan as a pup she is just over a year old now and gets latched onto. When I got up to get her unlatched, another coyote showed up….
Grape is a 7 month old pup out of my Peaches dog and a Jadg male I bred her to. Like what I see in this pup so far.

Yall stay after them
Kelly

Very interesting Kelly. Interesting to watch those dogs.

Not a criticism but I am wondering about the runners and spinners. Is this due to shot placement, or what cartridge/bullet was used? I'm a bang/flop kind of guy.

Good hunting. El Bee

LB - the first one was shot with a 22-243AI and a 80gr berger. It was hit a little far back.
The two close ones, I used the 204AI and 50gr bergers. If I remember right, I hit em where I wanted, but got pass throughs on both of these.
I like em to melt when hit also. These didn't.

Paul - you got that right.
Bryson is a fine young man and WAY more mature than anyone I have ever known at his age.
Damn good baseball player too.
His Mom and Dad have done an excellent job.
Take care

Great video, Kelly. I've seen a lot of young coonhounds go through that rite of passage with one ear string out like that. Hated to see it happen, but always knew that I'd have a different dog when the dust cleared - either forever broke of coons, or a heart full of hate for them. Never an in between.

Great images of the posturing of those coyotes, too. Hackles up, ears back, stiff legged, challenge barking. Lots of education in that video for the new guy that knows what he's looking at.

Hunting in lawn chairs! Nice..

The yotes are so focused on the dogs, it seems they just ignore the hunters... Thx for sharing..

I was kind of disappointed by the lawn chairs.
I would have thought that the Great Kelly Jackson would have his stands set up with Lazy-Boy Recliners.

There are times a lawn chair is just the ticket. I know for a fact, Steve Craig recommends a lawn chair to survive and endure an hour long lion stand.

I remember one time, sitting in camp, (equally stinky), but it was KELLY that got invited to shower in Dan, (the man) 's trailer. WTF? I guess it was the secret handshake?

What would Kelly do? He needs a little help naming his black dogs. "Grape" and "Sugar" don't do it for me, but what do I know?

We need a thread: WHAT WOULD KELLY DO?

A dogs name should be no more than two syllables. The dogs I use for coyotes have food names, cause they get chewed on from time to time.
Bean, Tater, Pepper, Ginger, Milk, Corn, Peaches, Sugar, Grape and Chile to date.
Oh the first Jack Russell was named LB, short for Little Bastard cause he bit the shit out of me ONCE.

On the chairs, I might leave the rifle or call at home, but I’m taking a chair.

LB – Les let me take a shower also one year….lol….thx again Les and Dan.

Here is the story on LB the JRT. Was out hunting one morning and drove by and a buddy of mine was out at his gate, so I followed him up to the house for a short visit. Looked out in his kennel and saw the Jack. Ask about it and he said it was some high dollar registered dog “from California no less” that his son had come up with. The son was working way off and he needed to get rid of it.
Told him to load him up and I will take him hunting.
As I was starting to drive off. His wife hollered at me. Stopped and got out, she said you forgot his medicine……Medicine for what. Epilepsy she said.
Well, took him home and forgot about the medicine, sure nuff he had a episode,
After about 15 minutes he was ok. Give him a dose and he was fine.
A few days later I took LB hunting.
Roped him to a tree about 40 yards out in front of me. Howled a few time and had a big ol male bust out of the mesquites and heading right for LB. Barked him to a stop and killed the coyote with a mini14. Made another stand and did the same had 3 show up and killed one of them.
3rd stand when I howled ol LB laid down in the grass and never looked up, he had figured out the deal and didn’t want nothing to do with it.
4th stand same.

So LB never got to go hunting again, but he finished out his years living with my ex-wife cause she loved him and me paying for some high dollar medicine every month for 10 years till he passed last year.

Yall stay after them
Kelly

oh lol Ryan, a fat ninja maybe...
