I know alot of you guys don't get around to the other forms much, so I thought I woud share this.
I hunted a contest in TX this weekend with my new coyote hunting hero. Marvin Henry is 70 years young. The hunt started at 7:00 am Saturday morning and check in was 9:00 am on Sunday morning. In this hunt, we were able to do drops, so Marvin and I hunted together till dark. I called a coyote on the 1st stand and Marvin promptly let his 220 swift bark. We are on the board. I never called a coyote the rest of the day. Our team mates a couple of brothers made their stands after they dropped me and Marvin off. They called and killed one coyote all day long. We hunted all night, some drops and on others we were all in the high rack. Killed 2 more coyotes, a cat and a coon. Really tough. All the coyotes we killed were last year’s females and all running solo. I can only think that all the older coyotes were doing the nasty and had no time for any of the sounds we were playing. Even with our poor showing, we placed 2nd. Mr. Marvin had been up 32 plus hours and finally after check in and the polygraph He let me drive us back to Archer City. Marvin finally took a little nap and then was right back talking coyotes the rest of the ride in. I was wore out, but had a good time. Got to hunt with some serious contest guys that kept plugging away, no mater how hard it was. I can not even begin to tell you how many stands we made between us, but did see the finest rifle shot in a long long time. Mitch the older of the brothers, made a offhand shot on a coyote well over 200 yards at night in 20MPH winds. That tends to rock a high rack just alittle. I was on my rifle and knew there was no way I could make that shot. Don’t think it was luck, cause Mitch shot well though out the contest. I can count 2 of these as we went out Friday before the contest to help a rancher that was calving out. I kill one coyote and one in the contest.
Yall stay after them Kelly

I hope I can still hunt coyotes when I am 70 years old. That's awesome.
KJ: "I never called a coyote the rest of the day."
I don't know if I will ever get used to the days and/or places where the fish just don't bite. I really start second guessing myself and our strategy. About when you think it can't get any worse, here they come again. It's frustrating because I want to know the WHY behind it. Running all night? Plenty to eat? Educated? Did they see or hear something? Drives me nuts.
Good job.

Sounds like you had a good time with your new coyote hunting hero Marvin. 200 yards offhand with 20MPH wind is really impressive. I have no idea what contest hunting is like, but it is intriguing to me.
Is that a bucket in the back of that truck??? Must be the new snow camo model.
I agree with Lone Howl on the FP show the other night. My favorite part was when the four coyotes came in and one was killed. The camera goes to Kelly and he says "Not Good"....That cracked me up. Beautiful looking country down there.

70?
Well, at the rate I'm going, Bre'r Coyote has jacked up two disks in my back, and now my left knee. And, that's just been in the past three years. At 46, I figure I'd better take it easy or I won't have any decent body parts left to chase them WITH by 70. Have to put a rifle rest and scabbard on my walker.

KJ, Safe to say that when you reach 70, you'll be someone's hero, just the same... And coming from a dude lucky enough to have shared some stands with ya, you already are...

Kelly killin coyotes was just a bonus, enjoying Marvins stories and company was worth more any monetary gain from the contest I would assume.
Hope I can still crawl around at 70 to a stand or two!
