Well I've done it. I've cancelled my Amazon Prime membership. I dislike the idea of helping Bezo make more billions more than I like his stupid Prime movies, shows and his evil politics. What started this is when I heard AOC pressured Bezo to drop parlor from Amazon Web Services. Parlor has not been able to find a replacement web service provider since.
Over Christmas, our grandson gave us some salvaged parts from when he upgraded his gaming computer. I put together a new to me desk top computer using some left over parts from grandson's gaming computer, and parts I purchased from newegg and Best Buy. I purposely did not buy any of the parts from bezo. Using the Rizen AMD processor and two SSDs, this thing screams. Our laptop was getting too slow. So I upgraded the laptops memory from 8 gigs to 16 gigs and replaced its old magnetic head hard drive with an SSD. It is now a pleasure to use. Again I didn't buy anything from bezo. I found the prices were the same, and with free shipping.
I also find what I want using Google, but I switch to Duck Duck Go when I buy because sometimes Google gets a piece of the action when you buy it through Google.
I wish all of you would find alternatives to Amazon and google.

Yeah, I somehow got roped into Amazon Prime for $14 a month and I don't buy anything? I finally called after nothing else got results and woman I talked to gave me a refund and put in on (where else) Amazon! So, I have a 40 some dollar credit and don't know how to utilize it.
Right now, I am fighting The Smithsonian about a subscription I never ordered. (see a pattern developing) Anyway, they say I ordered a subscription in September and these asshole have no way of actually contacting them. I can mail back the "3rd notice) but I refuse to spend a damned stamp!
Another thing. I don't understand how it happened but recently I have been bothered by SPAM calls on my smart phone. I've had a cell phone for 20 years and it's just the past few months that I have been getting nuisance calls. Really pisses me off! I need some way to block calls from anyone not on my list. I don't know how to do it?
I have never had a Facebook account or a Twitter account and never will. Just when I thought there was a social media I might trust, Apple, and Google and Amazon squashed that!
This Big Brother bullshit is getting on my nerves!

I am experiencing the same thing. OnXhunt charged me for another year membership. I would love to have a credit card that would give me a new number and every year automatically so I wouldn't be recharged for something I won't be using. I only us OnXhunt for big hunting and you don't get drawn every year in Arizona for good hunts.
I guess what I am going to do is pick a credit card and call them every year for a new number. I think I'll start now and call the first working day of the every new year.

I've recently started getting offers and similar from casinos and cruise lines that I haven't heard from for at least 6-8 months?
Now, I just got a "reminder" from Wells Fargo that they didn't get their payment that is due today? WTF? So, I checked and sure enough I set it up on the first to be paid to day and it says, "pending". It's not even late until tomorrow. And, it's a measly $21 balance! Some cards don't even bother asking for a payment on such a low amount. What's the big deal anyway? This is the first time I can remember getting a notice like this? It's not even a card that I use very much, if I don't use it, they don't send a statement. I'm a little annoyed at this "concern" in advance.
Costco has been sending reminders before the due date, and I think that might be a new policy in view of the fact that many people aren't working and maybe they are behind on credit card pmts? Kinda stands to reason. You will pay the rent or mortgage first, and buy food first, seems to me? Credit cards can wait. Worst they can do is cancel your card....and trash your credit for the next 2 years.
But, things are happening, new and different. The whole country is really down the tubes. I notice they are really pushing the masks, even after you get the shot. Comrade Fauci says so.

Lets see if I can clear this up. WE were talking about subscriptions we don't want.
OnXhunt is a hunting app that I signed up for last year:

They charged again me this year, and I don't want to subscribe to it again right now. I want it when I get drawn for a big game hunt which doesn't happen often because we have to many hunters and not enough game.
Rather than getting on the phone with the vendor a year later when this happen, I think I am going to always use the same credit card. Every Jan 2nd make one phone call to this credit card company and request a new card with a different number so these subscriptions cannot rebill me.

Here's something that surprised the hell out of me!
Yesterday, I got a refund check from Amazon in the amount of $41.07.
I'll have to check but I think they might have removed the "credit" that I had not used and just coughed it up. This is for 4 months of unused Prime membership. I did get a statement but put it in the rack, unopened.
Whatever, but I have to admit, it's an attempt at customer relations.

edit: oh, another thing related to a comment above by az. I signed up for Apple TV to watch a movie and this was about 4-5 months ago. Ever since, they have been charging my Discover card $4.95 a month, I think it is? Well, that card expired and they sent me a new one, but poor Apple can't charge me this month for movies I have not watched and have no interest in watching. Maybe I will let them stew, because I see no need to pay five buck for the option of possibly watching another movie. I don't know how I screw up and sign up for shit like this? the reason is they need an expiration date and the code on the back of the card, that has changed on the new card. Too bad, I guess?

I've bought some stuff thru them recently. Got a free prime for awhile we shall see.
Here's the thing I'm anti big business like this and always support local. Since we moved out to nowhere I must admit the service they provide is pretty good. I'm an hour away from buying blue jeans. I also hate people don't want to go anywhere with any population base anymore.

My next door neighbors, (who I really like) I noticed that they went to the dunes, Ocotio Wells, maybe? Where was I? Oh yeah! The "Prime" boxes were piling up at the front door, so they are in the swim. I guess if you are a hard core consumer/growing family, etc. it makes sense when I can get charged 7-8 bucks shipping a pair pf socks.
These are the folks that I hardly knew, that called the police for a welfare check when Tillie was outside howling all night when I was accidentally admitted to the hospital. Because they took the initiative and called my daughter and agreed to come in and feed my dog and my bird, I made sure to give them a key, just in case something happens.
Believe me, it's better to have a concerned neighbor than that witch Paula that complained to the city that my fucking bird was too loud! Yet she has/had two large dogs that barked all the time and I never said boo! New neighbors gave me contact information and he has come over knocking on the door a couple times since I got out. I highly recommend decent friendly neighbors. (he did say that Pinky does not like him)
Isn't that just like a bird? You go in to replenish his stuff and water that he pollutes with his stuff, and instead of gratitude, he threatens to bite your arm off! He fits all definitions of "attack bird" I can think of; he is fearless. I have had and bred and raised quite a few different hook bills, (parrots) and none are as bold and aggressive as Pinky who is a Moluccan orange crested White Cockatoo. The only white cockatoo that is actually pink and the largest of the white cockatoos. There are black cockatoos, like the beautiful Palm Cockatoo and I'm not sure how they stack up against Pinky, as to size? But, if you want to wrestle with a buzz saw, Pinky will take all you hand out and then some. Like I said, he's fearless; I've seen him beat the shit out of a 6 iron, broom, whatever? We have this Feralingous hawk that preys on the Band tails and I wonder who would win if I just set him out on a perch, instead of inside a cage. We have a bumper crop of Band Tail Pigeons this year. Where they go for winter, I do not know but they nest around here in the tallest trees, in this case, Japanese Black Pines, one of the trees that were included in the landscaping in this development and there are enough that 50 years later, they have grown bigly. The others here are Pepper and Magnolias, but they aren't nearly as big as the Black Pines. You know, Band Tail's are a game bird with a season. I wouldn't know where to go to actually hunt them but I've seen them up at lake Silverwood, sorta diving in the water and I don't know the purpose? At first glance, they look just like an average pigeon except they are all marked identical, no variation like "Rock Doves", which are city dwelling nuisance pigeons. They, (Band Tails) average maybe an inch longer than city pigeons and a quick glance you couldn't tell them apart. But, they are cool, behave themselves and I like having them around. The flocks are bigger this year, for sure. I don't think they have anything to do with city birds at all, these all have identical markings, a stripe behind the neck and a white bank on the tail feathers. Over all color is gray. I just know that the hawks seem to think they are tasty. And the crows steal their babies! Very strong fliers. It's hard to believe that hawks will tackle a bird that is at least as big as they are, & maybe weigh a little more. So, that's about all the drama we have around here, besides the eternal war between Magpies and Crows. So you are up to speed! ....other than the usual hummer wars, that is.

Never done Amazon but I do know my way around eBay.
FWIW;
I've rarely had any problem with eBay or the sellers. The few times that there have been an issue, it was usually simple human error and was promptly straightened out.
