I am so macho about females in front line assignments in the military and don't care who knows it. There is no way a female can compete with males in certain units and missions. The fact that people are always pushing for inclusion can only hurt these organizations. You might as well be attempting to prove that black is white.

When women were first admitted to the United States Military Academy, (West Point) there was routine physical qualifications, the PT Tests. It didn't take long before they found out that even an exceptionally strong female could not do ten pull ups. So, what did the political types do about it? Of course, they changed the qualifications, but just for females. The males still had to do ten pull ups but the females were required to jump up and hang in place for one minute to qualify. At least that's the way I heard it, and of course all that shit is very confidential.

So, what did we prove? That ten pull ups was a unnecessary qualification? No, the men still had to do it....and believe me, it's not easy to do. Actually, big guys can hardly ever do it, the jockey types can do twice as many, so it is somewhat a test of certain physical characteristics. That's why the Olympic Decathlon is always won by an average 6 foot, 6-1 or 2. Maybe even somebody my size can sneak in there once in a while. I was always at the top or very close in all of those tests. ANYWAY, what exactly are they trying to prove? You cannot prove that females are as "good" as males in almost any test of physical ability or strength. All they do is weaken the force and why don't they let the men hang for one minute if that's all it takes? So, it's purely politics.

Are there any standards that cannot be broached for the sake of political correctness? Apparently not? Such as admitting black students into Harvard Medical School. I remember a man that sued the University of California Medical School at Davis because he scored something like a 97 on the admission test but didn't qualify to make room for some blacks that had scored around 85, something like that? This is because they have coined a word "Diversity" and made it highly desirable, and preferable above concepts such as FAIRNESS. Fuck over the white guy and educate a black student that may never show the ability and never get the same grades but none the less, will graduate with a degree and a license and be considered "elite". Even though it's an artificial status, and who are we kidding?

Some black people are very smart and I say give them all the credit they deserve. Pay for their education, give them all sorts of privileges, but in the case of Institutions like Harvard and UC Davis, when they get there and have to compete with the best and the brightest, a very high percentage struggle to keep up with their peers. The drop out percentage is high, just as it is in any college without some consideration given their status. The drop out rate for blacks in public high schools is very high, in case you didn't know? Instead of Harvard, why not give them free tuition at a State college where they can compete with the rest? Sticking them in Harvard is almost a guarantee that they will fail or graduate at the bottom of the class.

So, it's the same with West point and the Rangers and the Green Berets. When I was in, the so called "Green berets" were specific to southeast Asia, I forget right now, was it the 3rd Special Forces? I don't know? But I did know the 10th Special Forces and their black berets. And, I knew the 1st Special Forces with their Red Berets. Nowadays, they are calling all of them Green Berets, for some reason? We always had Rangers and their brown berets. Now the whole Army wears berets and everybody hates them! It's meaningless, now, and looks stupid. We wore blocked hats like Fidel Castro. Now the field caps they wear look like somebody sat on them the night before. The Marine Corps "cover" is a little elaborate but at least it holds it's shape. I have one and wear it on stand once in a while, even though I have never been a Marine fan.

If we are going to cater to the "politically correct crowd" all the time, expect standards to be thrown out the window. Maybe we can justify a cripple who was born with a deformed leg, just let him roll his wheelchair under the chin up bar and stare at it for 2 minutes? It's okay and wait a minute while your partner will enlarge the foxhole so that your wheelchair will fit. I'm sure he won't mind.

An example of the exact same thing is the testing for firemen, once upon a time. They used to have to pick up 50 feet of firehose and run with it a certain distance. They used to have to lug a firehose up 3 flights of stairs in a certain amount of time. Well, at one time, they had to carry their unconscious buddy out of a burning building. Now, if you are a girl, you can't pick up your partner and save his life so you leave him and run out of the building and get a couple more guys to carry him to safety while you collapse and take a breather, having done all you could. A dirty little secret is that firemen's wives aren't too thrilled with their husbands living with the lady firemen for the whole shift, and living in close proximity and all that it brings to the equation: after all, boys will be boys. But, it's the same old story, what are standards for, anyway? Be they physical or mental. I'm not going to congratulate the lady Green Beret for "making the Grade" because she sure as hell didn't do it.

Think about all the chatter with Transexuals competing in girls athletics. Biological males are beating the pants off of high school girls in State meets all over the country. The girls are suing. They know that something isn't FAIR. But just stop and think about the reverse situation when the petite girls qualify for West Point, and some guy....didn't.

Okay, okay, end of rant. But I feel pretty strongly about the sexes respecting their gender and qualify for the office clerk job, making coffee, instead of CRACK COMBAT UNITS.

Man, I'm hard core, huh? I'm sorry!
Good hunting. El Bee.

When I was in EMS, candidates for jobs were required, regardless of gender, to carry a cot loaded with an "H" O2 cylinder(the five foot tall ones, to represent a patient), and an EKG monitor up four flights of stairs, do ten minutes of one rescuer CPR, then carry the cot back down the stairs taking the end opposite of where they were when ascending the stairs, raise the cot and move it fifty feet then placing it and locking it into the ambulance. I saw a number of female techs who could do that with the boys, and I saw guys who couldn't.

Nowadays, the new Stryker cots are autolift where you strap the patient on and push a button. I see a lot of petite female medics out and about, teamed up with one another, and I recall more than one time where it was just my partner and me, all alone except for a state trooper who may or may not offer to help, lifting and carrying a 300# patient on a spine board 100 feet up a grassy embankment from where their car stopped after leaving the roadway. One in particular was a pretty big ol' gal and it was all my ex-college football player partner could do to hold up his end.

My main concern is along LB's about women in combat roles. I see two pretty paramedics, pig-tailed and looking delicious, paired up on a truck, and recall the times I had to deal with an unruly or combative patient who, if given the chance, would have easily overtaken and possibly hurt or done worse to a female tech when there isn't a male partner to take him down. You don't always have PD or SO there to help. Drug issues nowadays make that even more probable and I recently told my former and first EMS partner who is Deputy Director of EMS that I thought that arrangement put his female techs at unnecessary risk. I guess it won't be an issue until it is.

I miss the good old days when boys were boys and girls were girls and that's all we had. Certainly thankful that my wife is a girl, and that my mama was, too.

whatever, but they still can't do 10 pull ups. Equality says, the guys shouldn't have to, either. Transsexuals should not be competing in girls athletics. Who is pushing this bullshit?

Challenge Cook Brothers hired a female welder. But first they spent a lot of money on a bathroom, since before, there were only men and there was a single bathroom.

I saw her, she was a big girl, probably 200 pounds, and part of the job was to turn the frame over to weld the underside of the axle. Well, she could not do it so they assigned the short Mexican fella in the next bay to turn his axle assembly and turn her's for her. Near as I could tell, he didn't complain, in fact he was kinda chivalrous and Macho about it, But she was a lot bigger than him, so somehow, the equality situation was out of whack. I can't say for sure, but I THINK that before the girl welder was hired, a guy would be sent home if he might have had some injury that would prevent him from manhandling his trailer without assistance. If he flat couldn't do it, he wouldn't have been hired in the first place.

I know. Why didn't they have hoists? Well, they didn't. Maybe they do now? That's progress and equality.

Good hunting. El Bee

I'm just old fashioned I guess because I have ALWAYS believed it was just wrong and not right to put a female in harms way.
I'm old and getting older by the day but still believe in the old ways when it comes to the fairer sex.

Of course. Like most people, I favor "perky" breasts. There's another, honorable mention; pendant ant; prime, but difficult to define properly. I know it when I see it. Y'all know what I mean?

Whatever, I'm a butt man anyway.

edit: Oh! Need to add something. In the most recent American Hunter, there is a photo of Managing Editor, Rose Bier with a nice whitetail. As far as I am concerned that is my favorite PORN! I'm telling ya, I can't get enough of pretty girls posing for Hero Shots! It's just sexy as hell!

Leonard - I think I may be about your age, give or take a year or so, also in the Army same time you were. I have been a SF and/or Operator the vast majority of my twenty-four years. As far as I can remember the SF alway wore a Green Beret, Airborn a Red Beret now, but when I was in the 82nd we wore standard head gear except for the "C" cap which had a glider on it. There are only two Top Tier outfits in the military - Seal Team 6 and Delta Force, since I was not in the Navy I can't address them and since most if not all DF members have signed NDS I can't address them.

Yeah, I signed one of those. I bet it's been misplaced, or lost in the big fire along with that will I signed leaving everything to my parents.

I guess the problem with strolling down memory Lane is that the situation isn't static, SOP changes for many reasons. All I know is what I know, and that's not worth a bucket of warm spit. Just old farts reminiscing, right?

The main thing is, get the chicks out of combat. They don't belong, and they are a distraction. period.

Good hunting. El Bee

edit: when we were working with the 82nd, we wore a blocked cap with a white band. This was at Eglin and Hurlbert.

PS, of course, I agree about Delta and ST6

Now that's blasphemy!

OK, back to Rambo women soldiers, the only way they qualify is the relaxing of standards. Women never trained with the men at Parris Island. Reason: they physically could not do the training. Front line combat is not a place for a woman to be. It puts her in danger as well as the men beside her. Obama got this ball rolling with his "gender integration" program. Another social justice piece of bullshit.

Sorry about the blasphemy. Actually, things are a little different, these days, inter service rivalry is not the same as it was. Right?

I guess, the main thing is, that you have served....oh, except for bus drivers! ha ha

Everybody get that or is ""Bus Drivers" a little too inside? It refers to the uninspiring Air Force uniform that makes you think that the inspiration came from Grayhound. get it? ha ha

Yeah, right! You are going to be like my uncle, the paraplegic, paralyzed with a broken neck, since he was 25, and that outlived six siblings.

Like, who would have ever thought I would outlive Nancy by 14 years, so far? It's out of our hands....ya know? Cheer up!
