Had a consult with the doc prior to treatment turns out Mamma has leukemia as well as the lymphoma it just keeps getting better ! Chemo went well they added a steroid to make her feel better going back today for second course . Next month they add another chemical to the soup ! Right now they are trying to kill off white blood cells that are of the charts. The next chemical goes after the cancer.
Prayers needed if you do !

Hang in there, Buddy! We will keep you in our thoughts and prayers!

I just can't imagine what you are going through? What with your difficulties and now your partner.

That's why I feel that Nancy, (and me) was most fortunate because we went from nothing wrong on a Sunday to expiring on a Wednesday, nine days later and she didn't even know what was going on; induced coma the last 4 days.

I could go on. My mother in law spent 7 years in a nursing home where they abused her with neglect. But, my mother died during open heart surgery, very little suffering. My Army buddy, Lt James Peterson died in his sleep and I honored him with my attendance at his funeral in Omaha. But, we don't get to pick and choose. Well, I guess we can always take the coward's way out but not with a natural death.

In any case, Good Luck, Amigo!

Will keep you in my thoughts, Paul. And suggest that you keep a few positive things in mind. First, the cancer has been discovered and the enemy has a face and name. Ignorance isn't always bliss, but knowing who and what you're fighting is definitely an advantage. Also, if there is a place and time to have cancer or any other condition of that magnitude, being in this country, at this time, gives you and your bride the greatest chance of winning this battle that anyone has ever had. Lost my mom to a form of breast cancer which, had she been diagnosed today, may have been treatable. For her, it was the fear of acknowledging it until it was too far along, and that denial and fear cost her her life.

Keep your chin up, and keep us posted. This may be the saltiest bunch of curmudgeonly assholes I've ever seen, but there seems to be a lot of heart in this place.

Yes, I have to admit, Lance said something sorta profound, when you think about it.

First of all, being born here and as a citizen is very fortuitous. Next, the health care here, in spite of the Democrats is the best available anywhere. I hear a pregnant woman in Canada has to wait 10 months for a referral to whatever that speciality is? It seems just crazy enough to be true? What is true, and a dirty little secret is that many Canadians with serious ailments choose to come here for treatment rather than waiting for an appointment in their country. As I said, Ain't socialized medicine great? And, the friggin' democrats are just itching on shoving it down our throats.

But, the main thing: conditions that were a death sentence, a few years ago, are now treatable, and that's why we keep hearing of celebrities like Kirk Douglas passing away at the age of 103 and like Betty White, another Centurion and just in general, people are living longer than previous generations....at least, on average.

So, we are all very fortunate to live in this country at this point in time and should be grateful. I know I am! I've already outlived both of my parents, so if there is a prize for that, let me have it.

Paul, you remember my girlfriend Judy? She lives in Phoenix now. But, she has always maintained a carefully pruned "Landing Strip". My daughter, Shelley calls Judy a "fashionista" which is fairly accurate. She worked at Nordstrom's for many years, selling fragrances. Still, all in all, I have to smile thinking about her Landing Strip. Now, Karen, on the other hand, was a slim, attractive six footer who could pass for a high class call girl. She had a bush like a Woolly Mammoth! Bless her heart! I miss her!
