Moving is like quitting smoking; a little at a time rarely works. Cold turkey all the way & get it over with.
And
What's the place going to be worth as your 'tax the wealthy' Socialist Democrats proclaim that 'wealthy' is anybody with more coin than the homeless or the undocumented ????

BUT

They will control your ammo! Maybe you don't handload? Then what? At what distance are those pointed sticks effective? (in your prime) Just give up! Content yourself with FaceBook jail once a month as your form of dissent. Just bend over and enjoy it, followed by your two minute hate from Big Brother. You know, Liberals aren't so bad, their heart is in the right place, they have all that compassion for the unwashed, the undocumented, the poor; and you want to take it all away! Admit it! Shame on you! And, you probably don't recycle? Serves you right!

Paul;
Trust me on this one;
The day will come in the not too distant future when the government holds the 'citizens' hostage thru technology. You WILL have an Alexis type device in your home and in your electro eco-car and possibly implanted in your arm.

Ain't gonna be pretty.

Are you sure, rebellious ko? Paul seems enough rebellious type to just pretend to swallow that little mood enhancing pill. My dog was expert at that, eating the raw hamburger and somehow, spitting out the pill when she thought I wasn't looking. He looks just fit enough to manage it. Mmm! Juicy Fruit! Look Mom, no electrodes!

Please Thank God every day that Hillary isn't president!

Yeah, it'll happen one small step at a time.
Remember when your Social Security card said "Not For Identification" ????

I still have my copy, of my original social security card. I've been carrying it in my wallet since I was 17. It was issued in two pieces and the top one I lost a long time ago , like 50 years ago, don't remember? But, also I don't actually remember ever having to produce it for any purpose, at all? So, why am I lugging it around for the last 60 years, I don't know?

One thing for sure, "they know who I am and where to find me. And, you know who is very concerned that I pay my taxes on time? Not the Feds, it's the state of California. You know, an extension is pretty automatic on your income tax filing, but it's California that squawks first, if I miss a deadline. Oh yeah, and miss mailing my property taxes by midnight on December 10 and April 10 and get hammered 10% penalty. Somebody has to pay to hose down the streets in Pelosi's district!

I think we are not far behind Venezuela? I'm into Nelson DeMille's new one: The Deserter, (latest best seller) He's good, I've probably read 20 of his novels?

Surgery all over by 1:00 yesterday seems I did not understand the doctor it was a double hernia one on each side , the one the left was normal the one on the right was the largest one he has ever repaired.
Gonna stay down today back at it tomorrow. to describe the pain it would be like running into a horizontal telephone pole at 40 mph. Ice is your friend . They offered pain meds I said no. No incision's all Laparoscopic !

I have this thing going on right now, and for the past 3+ days. It's like a pinched nerve and the location is above my right hip, on the back. No idea what caused it but it's at least 40 MPH. I took a NORCO about 4am and dozed off for an hour. There is no position affording relief. I'm mulling going to a witch doctor, (you know, chiropractor) but that shit has never worked for me. No question, growing old ain't for sissies.

Yeah, ice on the 'owie' & a sip of Yukon Jack now and then. As you've probably figured out by now, the worst is getting up out of bed. After that, not too bad. You'll do well.
Did they put the mesh in ??? Either way, you're gonna know when the weather's going to change for a while.

El Bee;
Try hot showers and easing into some stretching movements.
You're right; getting old ain't for sissies, but it beats the alternative.

Thanks, but another strange thing is that I can't stand hot water. You know people get in a hot tub and luxuriate. It smothers me, I'm out sitting on the edge with maybe my feet in the water. I do not take even a moderately hot shower, I mean, I can't breathe if it's above about 101 degrees, pure torture in a steam bath, can't stand a sauna!

Now, a hot pad just might be an idea! I've got a good one, seen little use, at least by me, but I might try it after my appointment this morning. Had one yesterday, too. Got several scheduled from now through December. Some Dr I don't even know has issued orders, I'm supposed to collect a 24 hour urine sample, kept in the refrigerator, no less? Well, maybe we will learn something from all this bs test shit?

I have some patches that I can stick on my hip, come to think of it, might do that too!

Paul;
Been there / done that advice; Goals to attain one at a time ........... over the next few days.
(1) Stand up straight.
(2) Walk short distances with slow long-ish strides. Short distance being from the couch to the kitchen. Maintain posture.
(3) Go up / down a couple of steps. (Might want to have somebody there with you, just in case.) Posture & balance.
(4) Shake your empty bourbon glass while loudly singing the touching love song "Put Another Log on the Fire".

Put another log on the fire.
Cook me up some bacon and some beans.
And go out to the car and change the tyre.
Wash my socks and sew my old blue jeans.
Come on, baby, you can fill my pipe,
And then go fetch my slippers.
And boil me up another pot of tea.
Then put another log on the fire, babe,
And come and tell me why you're leaving me.

God! I hate that song or maybe it was the singer and the way he presented.

LB sounds like you might have an inflamed sciatic nerve. I'm dealing with that right now.

I am thinking sciatic nerve is the problem. I have the same issue from time to time. It comes out of no where and can cause a lot of pain. My wife suggested stretching, and stretching makes the problem go away very quickly.
Hope you get better sir

I have never heard that song? Of course, I never listen to the radio anyway, and when I did, occasionally, it was one of those retro oldies stations. And, I never listened to talk radio on my morning commute, except for a while when Tammy Bruce was on KFI real early. I gave Nancy's stereo to Judy, an old girlfriend, I just don't pay much attention to radio.

But, since I bought this Infiniti, Serous, or whatever it's called, subscription radio has been bugging the hell out of me to sign up for their service, offering me 3 months free, then another 3 months free and I never turned it on, so why pay for it?

Anyway, I'm even less familiar with anything "Country" on radio. But, I get the joke. I guess, if I had to listen to anything, and couldn't find an oldie station, country would be preferable to jungle music; Rap, or whatever they call it? For me, that stuff is unintelligible. How anybody could make a fortune performing that shit, is beyond me? Now, they have white people listening to it, I hear it throbbing, stopped at signal sometimes. If that bullshit takes over, this civilization is doomed, I'd just as soon listen to a preacher.

I did used to listen to Art Bell in the middle of the night. The other guy that took over his show was focused on some issue, and beat it to death.

But, damn! Paul knows all the lyrics? That's awesome! Just as awesome is that the rest know what the hell he's talking about.

excuse the rambling.

Good hunting. El Bee

edit: I have this location that seems to be smack dab in the middle of my buttcheeks, that I have been thinking is my sciatic nerve, but this pain is a little bit higher and inboard. But, it's the same kind of shooting pain, doesn't feel good, at all!
