No snow or rain yet this morning. But temps went to 31 for a little while and the garden is gone for the year.

Had my first P.T. session yesterday. My year of limping has shorten my hamstring so besides getting the knee working now have to work extra hard to stretch the hamstring out. Had a real rough night as had to kick the extra pillow out of the bed and not prop it up.

I'm 16 degrees off from being able to totally straighten out my left leg. It isn't much but my leg is telling it's a big gap.

The hard work begins to be able to walk normal again.

Interesting, not being able to straighten your left leg? The guy across the street, Let's call him Paul, just to confuse everybody. He had a recent knee replacement and has been having trouble from day one. So, his druggie brother died of an overdose so he refuses to take any painkillers and it's apparently made him koko...no wait, that don't sound right? Call it Coco, or cuckoo?
This is the guy that had a meltdown in the parking structure driving me to my epidural appointment. Where was I?

Anyway, he can't straighten his leg and he appears to be in serious pain. 4 or 5 days, I mean, nights ago, firetruck and ambulance parked in the street, but he refused to go with them. I have not bothered to ask, we aren't even waving lately; over a hamburger joint! I know, if you aren't paying attention, you don't know what the hell I'm talking about, which is fine.

Now, to finally get to the point, I have a knee replacement and other than a week or ten days of excruciating pain, and other that a slight hick in my giddy up, with sound effects, it has not caused me any pain or discomfort, at all ever. So, I'm lucky, I guess? But, I am a little surprised about the problems we, (some) are having lately? Is knee replacement the new "back surgery"?

But, 16 degrees is quite a bit, and Paul looks to be having at least that much lacking of a straight leg. It doesn't help that he is already vertically challenged, probably 5'3" or so? And you know how cranky the little fellers can be, what they call short man syndrome? Fortunately, I'm just barely over the limit.

Carry on!

I only made a hour in bed last night with just tramadol and Tylenol for pain killer. Husband enough got up and got something stronger to knock my ass out so I and he could get some rest. I made it to 0200 before having to get up and move the usual bathroom run then crawled into the recliner and finished the night out. Been trying to do the exercises this morning. Not sure what is worse the straightening or the heel drag up to bend the knee. The whole knee is just screaming.

Oh well such is life.

I had my right knee done 9 years ago. It was a bugger. I was between sizes, so they put the bigger size in so when everything loosened up the joint would be just right. It took a lot to get it working. But I was also 9 years younger.

I need a shoulder replacement but hear the pain for them is the worst. So keep putting it off. If the pain is worse than a knee I don't want any part of it.

After years of motorcycle racing both my knees are bone on bone my hips are a constant problem My shoulders are a constant source of pain, now the pain in my neck and head post surgery. They will never get me into an operating room again I will live with what I like to call extreme discomfort and I will die that way, I will never put another opioid in my body, doctors don't give a shit if you live or die! They get paid either way !
Oh yeah fuck em !

You know what, Paul? That's exactly what the Paul across the street says? Including that he won't let that surgeon go back in there and correct the problem, iif there is one.

Myself, I had two othrascopic minimally invasive surgeries before the knee replacement. They were supposed to get rid of the pulverized bone that was causing the pain but neither did any good, only the knee replacement fixed it on the 3rd attempt.

But again, the narcotics works for me. I'm glad I can function pain free with using the medication. Everybody is free to make their own choices but I know how to use this stuff without becoming a drone.

I only notice a problem if I'm out of morphine for a couple days, get a withdrawal type of feeling, not pleasant. So, I am hooked, to an extent, but I don't feel drugged, day to day. Besides, it's timed release, no highs and lows.

Anyway, it's a shame you have to gut it out without any help. I'm assuming constant pain, right? You are hardcore, for sure!

Good hunting. ElBee

Well it is totally over and done with the garden that is.
1 inch of snow so far and still snowing. Temps holding at 32* or so.
All the trees still have leaves on now worried about branches breaking.

We ended up with 2 inches of snow Sunday. Hit 26 degrees this morning. Snow hanging on the mountains half way down.

Went to rehab yesterday Got the knee straight down to 10 degrees. They worked me really good. Very painful had a tough evening. Be glad when it all comes together and working.

I watched an uncle with rheumatoid arthritis suffer for decades with knee pain that forced him to walk without standing fully upright. Too cheap to pay the co-pay to have them fixed. By the time he finally did, the hamstrings had shortened so much that nothing could be done. Got the knees replaced and lived to 70-something, always in pain.

I've been under treatment from a rheumatologist recently, trying to uncover why all my joints hurt. All tests for genetic markers are negative. Doc put me on max dose on naprocyn and that helped for a while. Recently took it upon my self to go the herbal route and added a fat capsule of ginger root and another of turmeric every night and morning. Reduced my pain levels by 75%, which even shocked me.

A buddy of mine with severe rheumatoid arthritis was started on an herbal remedy by his specialist at KU Med Center in Kansas City. He has any patients try it who are not candidates for biologics because of a family history of heart disease or cancer, and told my buddy that 80% of those who have tried it have found it to work in reducing pain and inflammation. Designed for gout, but I guess it's a god send for people with RA. Called Urcinol. You can find it on Amazon.I haven't tried it, but my buddy considers it a life saver which allows him to stay active running his towing and recovery business (tow trucks). Even his high-falootin' Indian specialist can't tell him why or how it works, but admits that he can't ignore the fact that it does.

As I was reading this post I looked up at my wall clock weather thing and it tells me it is 95 degrees outside at 4:14.
Go figure.
